A medley of favorites, flavor nirvana
    Steve P.

We get here at lunchtime and the food is fresh and steaming. Obviously, time of day of arrival in a buffet is important. Trays were being replaced as soon as they got low. Tables and floors are clean. Large windows let in a lot of light. I really enjoyed the Orange Chicken and the Sesame Chicken. My favorite part of a buffet is to be able to do a side by side comparison of favorites. The pot stickers that they call Fried Dumplings were really good. The dipping sauce makes the difference. There was a manager walking around with a microphone looking over the food levels. He was telling kitchen staff what they are low on. Obnoxious customers though. Facetime loud talking, checking your bank balance on speaker phone for all of us to know how you are doing financially, uncontrolled kids playing loud volume games on phones... Good fresh hot food, pleasant staff! -could do with a better crop of customers though.

    8 grams of extra protein

Not gonna lie the food is absolutely bomb, but you might get some extra protein you didn't ask for

This review is based on the food quality for take-out service and not on the ambiance, as we normally just do take-out. We enjoy the food variety, and the quality has improved tremendously since the restaurant was bought by new owner. We enjoyed the coconut sauce shrimp, steak and broccoli, squid, sautéed shrimp and vegetables, mussels, roasted eggplant, and the sushi. You can't beat the price of $9.99 per pound for cooked seafood and sushi. We'll be back for more delicious takeout food.

This buffet restaurant needs to work on keeping the buffet clean. There was sauce all over the bar. Some of the spoons to scoop the food were switched to other dishes. Staff need to manage this better, especially since they were not very busy at the time. Overall, the food tasted good, but 1/4 of the hot food dishes were cold. Will probably not return again.

I've lived in Springfield / Eugene for 12 years. One of the first places I went to was China Sun. I have enjoyed it for most of that time. No, it isn't comparable to my favorite places in San Francisco or Los Angeles or Seattle or Portland, but it is local and accessible. Last week I had 2 hours to kill while bride was at a business meeting over dinner hour. I was in the mood for Hot and Sour soup, Mongolian Beef and a couple other things from the buffet. I was seated and walked to the buffet. I usually start with sushi (I know, not Chinese) -- and selected half a dozen pieces. While not usually exceptional, the rice was dry, the tempura shrimp in the center was hard and the selections were bland.. I got my usual cup of Hot and Sour soup. I was hot by temperature, missing any noticeable quantity of white pepper, minimal vinegar and devoid of mushrooms (or other edible fungi). I got my usual serving of Mongolian Beef. It was devoid of any red or green peppers, mostly bland and greasy. On the whole, I walked out into the rain with a mood that matched. One of my favorites failed to deliver anywhere near what I was used to. I'm sad.

Food was very good and fresh. The Mongolian bbq was really a good twist to buffet! The price was not bad at all $13 for a Chinese buffet!

Pricey for a typical Chinese buffet & they charge for drinks $14 a plate is a bit excessive. The food is okay & the staff is nice.

Growing up in Hawaii, it was a nostalgic place to visit whenever I go back home. That ended when the Oahu location permanently closed. I made a move up to Eugene a few months ago and I was ecstatic that there is a Sizzlers located in Springfield! I decided on a special treat for myself and came on Mother's Day. The restaurant was bustling and the line was speedy. I decided to go retro and ordered a malibu chicken with a baked potato as the side and a salad bar. The salad bar did not look too sanitary. It's inevitable that the salad bar items will be mixed with the items nearby since it's placed so closely next to each other. But when it's in and around the crocks, I avoid those items...which was practically the whole salad bar. The hot food (taco bar) was pretty empty and messy too. The small portion of what ever meat or nacho cheese was left, it was all dried up. I think the soup area was okay. There was two soups to choose from brocolli cheese and clam chowder. I decided to skip it. I hate to see my childhood restaurants go but when a chain restaurant is struggling and losing it's luster, it may be a time to prepare ourselves and start the letting go process.

The gal told me that the lunch buffet will end in about 40 minutes and asked if it was okay with us. I said no problem. We go seated and got went to the buffet counter. It was a smaller selection than what we were used to but it didn't bother us. We got what we wanted to eat and enjoyed our food. Even though the buffet was closing soon, the cooks were still bringing items out. I was kinda expecting we were just going to get what ever is left, but everything was still coming out very hot and fresh. I didn't get seconds, but my daughter did. She's pregnant and said that the food really hit the spot for her and the baby. For me, that's a win! Thank you for the great food and service. We will definitely be back.

I have been wanting some Indian food, and saw on Royal India's website they offer lunch specials…read morethat were pretty reasonable. So I went to Royal India. I was seated quickly, and brought water... I also ordered a Masala Chai. Once there, I found out they no longer have Lunch Specials, but opened a buffet ($17.95) instead. Apparently the website has been incorrect for over a year, but the owner has not fixed it. I did not really want buffet, although it looked decent. So I ordered the Chicken Korma ($19.95). Then I found out that unlike the lunch specials I was hoping for, they do not serve Naan with their dishes, so also ordered some Garlic Naan. The food was delivered to my table in a reasonable amount of time... and looked good, although I thought the portion of Korma was pretty small for the price. Korma description in the menu states it has cashews and raisins in it. I think I could taste some cashew, although there were no whole cashews like I have had at other restaurants with this dish... and no raisins either. It did taste strongly of curry leaves which overpowered the cashew flavor I love. But every cook does this dish differently. Large portion of rice was ok. Garlic naan was very thin, and lacked the chewy softness I expect from naan. This was just flat, no rise at all. Masala chai was lacking in flavor, but it was a large portion, which was nice. Service was very good... Ingrid checked on me repeatedly, and was very nice. For the price ($36+) with the tip, I felt like this was a very expensive lunch, and while I did take some home... it was not even a meal (unless you count just the rice). Usually if I spend that, I get at least one other meal from the takeout. I guess I will have to just stick to making Korma at home when I want some. Not sure if I will be back....
