We are very regular here. Always great service, quick and friendly! Their egg drop soup is really comforting, and I love the vegetarian options! My only complaint is that there is too much broccoli in their vegetable mix, but I love that they use baby corn and water chestnuts! read more

I'm absolutely amazed. For the 60 seconds I was in for a pickup order I can't recall having a better experience or impression in a while. This is a family owned business, VERY friendly and welcoming as you walk in and you're left feeling appreciated. I'll be honest that the crab rangoon wasn't my favorite, but it's definitely worth the $4 and I'd order it again. (Edit: Prior to posting this review I microwaved them and they were pretty good at 4:30 AM!). read more

Been back here a few times since my first review, and I'd like to add that actually, they claim they don't use any MSG in their cooking, so my last review was somewhat inaccurate. However, I am pleased to report that subsequent visits have not disappointed, in either portion size, or consistent quality. The Hot & Spicy Chicken - yum, but very spicy. =) read more

I had a great experience with the China star in Wheaton illinois. My only problem is that they were not clear about the amount of food. There was way too much. Also I was not able to substitute dumplings for crab rangoons which made me sad. Otherwise delicious and nice people. read more

We recently moved to the area. Being a huge fan of Chinese takeout we were sad when we got the craving and didn't know where to turn. We rolled the dice and chose China Star. GREAT CHOICE! Craving cured and bellies were full. We just ordered our second round tonight and we are just as pleased the second time around. I must add that the owner, Alice, is the nicest person that I have interacted with since we moved here. Her overwhelming friendliness makes the experience that much better. We will be back many times to come.... read more

This place is amazing. Yes, I agree the outside or inside doesn't look like much but the food is incredible and they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. My family and I have been living in the Wheaton area for 6 years and we have NEVER gone anywhere else for Chinese food! If you look past the look of this place, I promise you will not be disappointed... we have basically had everything on the menu! read more

This little tiny place, filled with family children has the best tasting Chinese food around. They use fresh veggies (not canned mushrooms!), tender meats and very affordable. 2 orders is enough to feed 4 adults for $20. Good deal for very decent food. read more

This is some of the worst, lowest quality Chinese food I've ever had! I'm just laughing over some of the good reviews they have... some people obviously don't know good food! The meat is of low quality & I wouldn't want to feed their food to my worst enemy's dog. A few people have bragged about their low prices, but when you serve absolute garbage, then you can charge cheaper prices. They do give you pretty big portions with the fried rice(not bad) & the soup is actually pretty good, but as far as their meat... stay clear. I ordered General Tso's chicken, once, & it was the worst combination of low-quality overcooked meat that I've ever had. The sauce was also really awful. I also gave the orange chicken a try, & that was also awful. I will give them one plus, in that the owners are very nice people. Way too many better options in the Wheaton/Glen ellyn area. read more

The wonton soup was good... every thing else had no flavor. Really dissatisfied. The Mongolian beef only had half a cup of beef in it and the rest was onions. read more

They always get my order right! Im amazed! Great food and easy on the wallet. Very personal; they get to know you! Family business.

Nope. Don't think about it--completely disorganized, kids running around, couldn't find anyone apparently running the show. Food was not good either. Prices were cheaper but you get what you pay for. read more

We've tried four different Chinese restaurants in the area since our favorite Stone Dragon closed. Finally we found our new go to Chinese place!! We had sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, beef lomein and chicken egg foo young. It was all terrific! Cant say a bad thing and the sweet little women behind the counter just topped it off. Dont waste your time at the other local places..took us a year to find this place! read more

One of the hundreds of Chinese takeout joints in the area well at least 20 or so. Menus are all similar to each other but overall one of my favorite cheap Chinese takeout joints in the area. read more

We've been eating here for years, and we love it. You get a TON of food! The staff is really friendly, and they even remember us. Great for take out, but too small for dine in. read more

Absolutely great food. Made as ordered. Very friendly service. They add freebies on larger orders.

The egg foo young was very good, even though they don't use bean sprouts. We also ordered the sweet and sour pork which was average. It was overly breaded so the pork was lost. I would order from here again but forgo any dish that is breaded. read more

This place is a hidden GEM! Best prices and amazing food! I'm pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food, but this place is great. A must try is their pan fried dumplings, these are handmade not the ones you can buy frozen at Jewel, and have great taste. Their pork friend rice may be my favorite fried rice dish. Their traditional Chinese food is very good and their more Americanized dishes are good too. Best Chinese food under $30 for 2 in Chicago read more

My husband and I have eaten here a couple times. The first time was OK-enough to satisfy our Chinese food craving. But the second time was just bad. We ordered a couple of appetizers and a couple of main dishes and reheat the leftovers for lunch the next day. Everything we had tasted like it was cooked in stale grease. One of the main dishes, Mongolian Beef, has tons of onions but very little meat. We ate what we could and threw the rest away. I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Have never had another bad experience and have continued to eat here! pick up is definitely the way to go though!

The food is always great and the owners are always friendly. The apps are especially fantastic-try the shrimp toast and dumplings!

China Star is in an unassuming strip mall. It has a couple of tables inside but it seems like nobody eats there. They typically order out. They are your typical grungy cheap Chinese food restaurant. I have had orders of beef with various types of vegetable. The beef came out very tender and the vegetables were decent. You'll pay somewhere between $5-10 per dish depending on the size you order. As long as you keep your expectations low to medium, the food is decent. They do give you a lot of food for the amount you pay for. The shrimp fried rice is so-so. The shrimp they serve is good but it doesn't come seasoned and the rice is kind of bland. read more

I love their fried dumplings, but everything else hasn't quite met my expectations. In all fairness I previously went to a particular Chinese restaurant for 14 years before I moved, so I'm a little biased. Prices are good though. My husband likes their General Tso's and their fried rice isn't too bad, so I'm willing to keep trying new things at China Star. read more

Fast food quality, slow service. They say 10 minutes every time I call ahead but when I arrive it's another 10 minutes. Take your time getting there read more

First of all i do like the little family that runs the place... kids are too cute ... the first few times i went there , the food was amazing...then it was very good, now , it depends i guess on who is cooking , it can be hit or miss..their white rice is the best i have ever had ..prices cannot be beat , so i will go back from time to time ... plus it is 3 minutes from my house read more

It's not the best but definitely the second best in the area. The food is good and fresh and they give you MASSIVE portions. Like, leftovers for 3 days. The owners are so incredibly friendly and want to please each customer. They do a great job of that. I wish their food wasn't quite as greasy but it's still good. read more

The China Star is second to none in the western suburbs...especially when it comes to Chinese food. I love this place. Truly. And I've have never had a bad experience. Most delicious dishes made with love that are served hot and fresh every time. Sweet and sour chicken is my jam. And their approach to customer service is fantastic - full team effort all around. If you're jonesing for Chinese, this is your joint - no doubt! read more

I ordered from here for the first time and it was excellent! The food was awesome and it was extremely fast delivery! It was kind of a big order and they threw in extra food for our group! Our delivery guy was so nice! I would say it was a great experience over all and I would highly recommend it! read more

I have been coming here since 2009. While this little gem looks like it may be sub-par the food is always tasty, plentiful, and made fresh. The family who owns and operates it is great and happy to call you "my friend." Most orders they throw in a free drink or side item for us. My only complaint is that of all the times I thought their hot & sour soup was made in house... the son opened a giant can of pre-made soup and put it in a bowl and heated it up for me. It is still good I just thought it was a family recipe. read more

The place may be an eye sore but the food is good and you get a lot of it. For 10 bucks I have 2-3 meals

Ordered food for pick-up. Food was ready when I arrived. Friendly staff. Generous portions. Wanton Soup was very good. Vegetable rice was bland. Sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken were fine. A very good experience. We will be ordering from them again. read more

I've eaten a lot of Chinese take out in my lifetime and have seen it all. Some places are terrible, some are OK, and some are really good. China Star is awesome. Friendly people, great food, and it's always hot and fresh. They have nice little "coupon" deals too, depending on the size of your order. You can get free soda, egg rolls, soup, etc. It's the only Chinese place we order from, now. You should check it out. I recommend egg rolls, won ton soup, general tsao's chicken, mongolian beef, house special noodle (mei fun), and BBQ pork. read more

My family take out before twice, it was ok, they are not that friendly,on 10/18/09, my daughter got sick after eating their orange chicken. never go back again and will not recommend this place to anybody. no stars. read more

This place is right down the street from where I work an live. I get it probably once a week, just for some good ol' Chinese food. It's made quickly, it's inexpensive, and the proportions are huge. You can easily make two meals out of their 7$ lunch platters. There are definitely some better Asian restaurants in Wheaton, but none of them combine the price and serving proportions like China Star. read more

Tried this place last night. I called right before they closed and the lady told me that I would be able to place my order if I got there before 10. I really liked that because everywhere else that I called they had already stopped cooking before they even closed. Egg rolls were really good. All the food that we bought was really good. Our food was ready fast. It's really hard to find a good Chinese place in the Suburbs. I will definitely be going back there. read more

I love this place for Chinese. I think it has the best Chinese in the area and the prices are reasonable. It's not a restaurant where you sit in its more I take out place. What else I really like about it is that it's all family run. Even the kids help their parents out. It's really nice to see a family working together. I feel good after I go there because I know they all work so hard and I like to give them my business. read more

I get this food at least once a month! They are so good and have great prices! I high key recommend china star for all you Chinese take out!

Why does this company try to show themselves in their listing as a Nashville company when they operate out of Smyrna? Seems misleading.

Great food and great family business with great quality and prices. Been going here for a few years and have never had a complaint. One of the best authentic Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten from. read more

Great family run place! The food can be beat, but not for the price, efficiency and location...I've only been more impressed the quality and the fancier, sit down establishments. Everything we have tried has been wonderful. Here you are always greeted and sent off with "Hello & Thank you my friend"! read more

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in town! The workers are so nice and respectful. The food is amazing! My favorite is the orange chicken:) But they have such a large menu for such great prices! I would definitely recommend this to anyone! read more
