Just right. Exactly where you want your Chinese food to be. 3 stars. Great Service. The lady who was my cashier was also my waitress. I even saw her go into the kitchen and eat from the buffet line too ! She might of cooked the food too ! Ambiance was awesome. Felt like I really was in Hanover Park rather than Carol Stream. Will be going here again soon. Even saw Yao Ming !!!!

Delicious food, always fresh, clean, friendly, hidden gem of the town! Favorite Chinese buffet in the area!

Well, I had an hour to kill before an important meeting, and I figured I needed to try this place just to see how it stacked up. The China Buffet is one of those Chinese restaurants that was widespread in the 1980s, but has managed to survive until now. The interior is completely bland. Buffet prices and descriptions are stuck to the wall with 3" tall block lettering. Oh, and there were french fries mixed with the crab rangoon, and fried chicken served on the side. Such was my introduction to the restaurant. The food was completely hit-or-miss. The fried rice was somewhat crunchy, and had a good texture, but its flavor was completely obliterated by an heavy hand on the soy sauce. Some sort of seafood dish was ruined by something pretending to be imitation crab meat--crab meat is not supposed to be chalky. Most of the buffet food had been out there a while. The mushroom dishes did not skimp on the mushrooms, and they were quite good. Some sort of mushroom-chicken dish was pretty good, though the chicken was dry. The orange chicken (I think that's what it was?) was surprisingly flavorful, though a bit salty, and easily the best entree out there. The hot and sour soup was standard fare, but avoid the very stale wontons. The crab rangoon also was stale. If you wanted fried chicken, though, it came out very nicely. The sushi in the back also was quite good, although I'd probably head a few doors down if I wanted to eat sushi. Avoid anything at the dessert table, where most of it was dry, except for maybe the Jell-O. The owners run the house in front and cook in the back, and serve you with a smile. I regret to say that unless their food quality turns around, I probably won't be back.

Its Chinese food. The food is hot, not entirely TOO greasy and the prices are not too bad especially if you eat the buffet vs. ordering out.

I've repeatedly asked that they don't include so much rice in the chicken rice soup since it ends up more like wet chicken and rice, and yet they continue to do it. The flavor was pretty bad this time around anyway, so I will not be ordering it again. Strangely enough, the egg drop soup, which I do not normally care for, was quite good. So the quality varies, I guess. Speaking of quality, the vegetable eggrolls were over-cooked and dry, but the shrimp eggroll, which was part of a lunch order, was good. I also tried the fried rice for the first time and was not impressed at all. It looked like Panda Express fried rice, except Panda Express is better. Usually Chinese fried rice is much better than any chain. As for the main dishes, the sesame chicken and teriyaki chicken were good, but the broccoli chicken was just so-so. In the photos online it has a brown sauce, but it came with a white sauce. I'm not sure if that has to do with my special instructions asking to put garlic in it or not, though. I also asked in my special instructions not to provide utensils or any sauce but sweet and sour but they threw in hot mustard, soy sauce, and utensils anyway. So I still don't know if they can see the special instructions or just choose to ignore them. In any case, I will probably still order here occasionally since the location is convenient, but I'm not as thrilled with the food as I was in the past. That being said, they do pack the containers as full as possible which I appreciate as not all places do.

Available from 11am-3pm you get soup of the day along with an egg roll, entree and rice. Super affordable! We started with a Philly Roll which was delicious. Sushi is made fresh and they offer many many options. The presentation was very nice! My wife had the Beef and Broccoli gluten free which was not available on the lunch menu but it was big enough to share. Served piping hot,the flavor was amazing. I had the Chicken Lo Mein lunch special with an egg roll and Egg Drop soup. No rice since it came with noodles. Portion was enough to bring some home. With locations in Arlington Heights, Naperville and Highwood, this is definitely a place to try. I can't wait to go back !
