First time here. I am very impressed with their 97/100 health score. Few restaurants achieve that high of a score. My biggest complaint is that NONE of the foods on buffet were labeled! How could that be? Sure white rice is a no brainer but all those little fritters.. are they chicken, pork or other? A beautiful vibrant vegetable dish was freshly put out. Oh oh wait.. I see shrimp mixed in there. Seafood allergy sufferers beware. Two soups were on the buffet but no soup bowls. Eating soup on a flat plate would be very messy and futile. This is a great little place that you've probably passed many times without realizing it's presence. It's a buffet, so you can do a tester plate first, and choose from a number of dishes. Plenty of fresh vegetables and very clean. The people were very pleasant and working at giving people a positive experience. I will be back. read more

I stopped into this china buffet last night with my buddy because we where passing through the Carol Stream area! We both enjoyed how fresh the food was. The crab ragoon was absolutely delicious! I loved their fried rice. It was so simple and delicious. Brown rice with onions. Yummy. I really liked the hot and spicy chicken that had all the veggies in it. Celery, I believe some carrots. Very small selections on the buffet line but absolutely delicious. Will be back soon read more

I have been coming to this place for over 18 years now. Yes, this place is not pretty inside but I'm there for the food. I'm not there for the looks of the place. I love their kung pao chicken, crab rangoon, noodles, rice I can keep going. If they are low on anything their quick to whip up a new batch. Love that they're family oriented, very attentive to clean up the table while we get seconds. Some people are just too damn picky and love to leave negative reviews. As long as this place stays open my family and I will continue to support this establishment. read more

We have eaten here many-many times. It's lower in prices that many other Chinese food places and that is of course very appealing to many hard-working folks that frequent it. I love that it's a family oriented small restaurant with enough choices to find something to every taste. They are very accommodating if food is getting low and are always friendly. Well, I had an hour to kill before an important meeting, and I figured I needed to try this place just to see how it stacked up. The China Buffet is one of those Chinese restaurants that was widespread in the 1980s, but has managed to survive until now. The interior is completely bland. Buffet prices and descriptions are stuck to the wall with 3" tall block lettering. Oh, and there were french fries mixed with the crab rangoon, and fried chicken served on the side. Such was my introduction to the restaurant. The food was completely hit-or-miss. The fried rice was somewhat crunchy, and had a good texture, but its flavor was completely obliterated by an heavy hand on the soy sauce. Some sort of seafood dish was ruined by something pretending to be imitation crab meat--crab meat is not supposed to be chalky. Most of the buffet food had been out there a while. The mushroom dishes did not skimp on the mushrooms, and they were quite good. Some sort of mushroom-chicken dish was pretty good, though the chicken was dry. The orange chicken (I think that's what it was?) was surprisingly flavorful, though a bit salty, and easily the best entree out there. The hot and sour soup was standard fare, but avoid the very stale wontons. The crab rangoon also was stale. If you wanted fried chicken, though, it came out very nicely. The sushi in the back also was quite good, although I'd probably head a few doors down if I wanted to eat sushi. Avoid anything at the dessert table, where most of it was dry, except for maybe the Jell-O. The owners run the house in front and cook in the back, and serve you with a smile. I regret to say that unless their food quality turns around, I probably won't be back. read more

This restaurant reminds me of a high-school cafeteria. There is no fancy decor or ambience or music. The food is OK for the price. They don't have a vast collection of dishes; what they have will be enough for you. There are no smiles; you pay for your meal, eat, then leave. First and last time customer. Went her on Saturday 3/17 to dinner pick up. We ordered eggs rolls, chicken fried rice, dumplings and chicken & vegetables. I have to say the WORST food I have ever had in my life. The seasoning (or lack thereof) was an odd flavor of grease & water combination. Generally when you eat a certain food you will taste certain seasonings like salt, pepper, onions and so on. These foods had literally NO FLAVOR. Always good flavors and fast and fresh. Can't beet the price and close to location. The drink is included in the price and they have always been very polite and welcoming. My kids always have an option with choices and they are also priced by their age. We tried them today, ordered a LARGE $55 family sized order, and terribly disappointed! We would like our money back... The Sesame Chicken was terrible, all dark meat chicken, and, scary part was it didn't seem cooked enough, and chewy!We order this entree as our norm at other restaurants, so know it should be white meat chicken, dark meat is cheaper meat, so.... Also, got Chicken Fried Rice, also, an entree we order regularly from other places..This was simply rice and chicken, Classic Chicken Fried Rice has chicken, peas, scrambled eggs and green onion in it..This was not only missing these ingredients, but, the chicken seemed boiled and very chewy and gross. Beef Chop Suey was beyond bland, no seasonings whatsoever, and husband always gets this entree elsewhere.. The broccoli with garlic sauce was way spicy and hot, burned my throat, and couldn't eat it either. The cherry on top of this is they charge a $9 'service fee' for their restaurant if you choose Delivery, along with taxes, and delivery charge...???? Yikes, this place unfortunately is going to be a no go in the future. Mostly because the food quality was poor. I will always give business to local no chain restaurants as this one certainly is. The selection is very small which is not a problem at all but the quality of the small selection was very poor. The rice was very dry and the noodles were ok. I have been going here for years. They show great service and make sure everything is clean. It's a fair price as well. Their meals consist of normal Chinese food including orange chicken, rice, soba noodles, etc. They are bilingual in Mandarin and English so you will not have to worry about a language barrier. The place is not usually packed except for Sunday's, they're busier around 1pm on Sundays. I will continue to come here for years to come. read more

I'm not going to lie... it's a great restaurant but when the restaurant gets full the owner of the restaurant starts to take other people's table, for the new incoming customers, only does it to make bank. Also they've raised the price of the drinks... it was free then, Now it's 75 cents for each cup. What a steal!! This is a buffet that I have been going to for a while now, but sparingly. My mother is a dentist a few doors down from the restaurant and we have been good friends with the management of this restaurant for a while now-they are very nice and friendly! The food is actually some of the best Chinese buffet food I've had. Lo mein is very good and so is all of the varieties of chicken. Being a buffet, sometimes the food can be a bit dry but if you ask for a refill then they will do it! Prices are very good for an all-you-can eat as well. This is definitely a restaurant for take-out only. Dirty interior and is showing age. Don't take anything out of the desert buffet-its been there for a while. I decided to finally try this place and I won't be back. The food is... weird. The chicken in the chicken and garlic sauce has a strange texture to it even though the actual dish as a whole is rather flavorful. As for the Kung Pao chicken, I've never had their weird version of it before. Some green cubes of a vegetable I cannot identify and no peanuts. WTF? And, again, the chicken had a strange texture. It did for the Mongolian chicken as well, and we didn't get any crispy noodles with it like the menu advertised. Oh and the egg rolls were positively dry and gross. I couldn't even tell what was in them but they weren't good. I didn't think the woman who took our take order was rude but due to the strange texture of the meat I'd rather not eat here again. I can go over to Luong Loi in Wheaton and get way better food for the same price. The portions will be smaller, but way more fresh and the chicken won't be so rubbery and weird. read more

I honestly don't agree with any of the other postings. I have been here a lot seeing that I love chinese food and I live in the apartments right behind it. The people who work there are always friendly and helpful. They are all nice and speedy at checking you in and out and cleaning up after your plates. They place is small but the buffet is great. From my granddaughter Today my best friend and I and 1 year old Niece,I went to the Chinese buffer off Hiawatha and there was a piece of metal in my noodles and it cut my tongue, I nicely went up to the counter asking to speak to a boss or owner, the women came to my table and immediately remove my plate (to hide from customers) and then she told me to get another plate, I told her I wasn't interested in getting a new plate I would just like my refund, she then suggested to get another plate and I again said I just really want my refund, she then said that we have to pay, mind you we only had a few bites of our food, and she kept suggestion we pay and I then refused and then threaten to call the police, so I then paid for my food that had metal in it, to avoid being arrested. She was very rude and laughed about the whole situation, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE read more

This is a good China Buffet for the price. Not a wide selection but for what they do have its good. For 9.99 all you can eat buffet they provide dessert, soda machine so you can get your own refills. I recommend the fried shrimp! read more

I just stopped here and looked over the Buffet table and what I saw was Pathetic ! ! About half of the choices were empty . And when the lady came from the back I asked her about them she was extremely sarcastic and said what do you mean there's plenty food how much you need ? I said it looks like your closing she kept repeating plenty of food and went in the back. Out of about 11 containers 5 were only crumbs Litteraly. The other stuff was almost gone and the beef and chicken sticks looked horrible . Dried out shoe leather looks better. And there was only 2 or 3 of each in the pans anyway . The white rice had about 2 servings left same as the fried rice . I felt the fried rice and it was COLD ! When one of the other workers asked what was wrong she looked at me aid something in Chinese and they both had a good Laugh . I left without getting anything . Eat here ? Ha fat chance . And like the other reviews say this place is very dirty I thought I'd take a chance based on the good reviews but No way . I'm temped to call the health department in the morning . This is the first time I have ever written a review, but we as a family were so disappointed...we have eaten from this restaurant before but today was the worst...we just get take-out. The fried rice was extremely bland with nothing in it except rice and chicken...no vegetables, sprouts, etc. I had to use several tablespoons of soy sauce just to get flavor. My husband ordered beef chop suey...with hardly any beef and extremely bland. The egg rolls were just left-over and heated up. We were totally shocked and frustrated that they would serve food like this! We will not be back to this place...such a pity. read more
