Pretty good overall, not your typical Chinese, I think this style is called Shanghai. The Mongolian beef is good. Char Sil for appetizer is good. The seasame beef is very sweet and I like this style but most people don't. They deliver as far north as Centerville. Great decor. read more

Truly bad. We got take out and come to find out we only got taken. The chicken fried rice was just that. Some old fried rice with a few pieces of dried chicken. Nothing else. Not sure how old that rice was, but I think it was near retirement. The Mongolian beef was tasteless and was about 80% onions. What beef was included was tasteless as well. The egg drop soup and won ton soup was equally bad. Since Ho Ho Gourmet has closed we will drive downtown SLC for good Chinese food. I would not recommend this place for any reason. We go here at least once a month. My wife likes it because of the Thai connection (rice noodles) and the fact that they tell her that they use GF soy sauce in all their cooking... which I find hard to believe. I'd say it's average food. Not great, but I've never had anything that I couldn't eat. Decor is dark, and heavily "Asian" - except for the caucasian waiters. Lots of families, with noisy kids on weekends. Very casual clientele. 3-D dragons popping out of the wall, huge ceiling tiles. It will always serve Asian until someone redecorates - that's for sure. Horrible!!! Stay away. The egg drop soup is Campbell chicken noodle with some specs of egg in it. The walnut shrimp was so hard could have broke my tooth! My chicken curry was watery and like soup broth. The chicken in the curry was rubbery pretty sure it was canned chicken. The potato was crunchy. I ate 1 bite and pushed it to the middle. The server goes "you don't like huh? I said nope it's gross. She still had me pay for it which is fine I ordered it. I will never go back or recommend. I ordered the massaman curry. It was almost milky white, just a little bit of coloring. And the flavor was just as lacking. No Rich deep flavor in this, almost like sweetened milk. Their orange chicken and general taos was mostly breading. I'll pass next time. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ordered cream cheese wontons for lunch, I picked them up and went back to work and the wontons had NO cream cheese in them, I called to let them know and they told me it was my fault, I know I ordered correctly but they thought I was trying g to scam them out of $4.25, they also told me if I wanted my money back I had to give them back the wrong order, so I didn't get lunch that day either. The manager never called or anything. I will never go back there again and I suggest you don't either. Empire Chinese is better and you get more food for your dollar! read more

Got take out from China Platter and have been going there for years. Never messed up on an order and was fairly fast. Waited 10 mins to have the cashier come give me my food, got home husband was eating the food and there was a hair in it. Called to tell him that and he acted like It didn't matter. I love this place! I used to go here all the time when I lived in Bountiful, but I've since moved an hour away and am sad I can't go here as much as I would like. Whenever I make the trek up to David county I'm sure to go to China Platter! Their combination platter is a great deal, and you get plenty of food. I've only ever had Chinese food here, but my husband assures me the Thai is pretty good too. I highly recommend sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken, moo goo gai pan, egg foo Yong, chicken chow mein, or general Tao chicken as entrees. And of course for appetizers you can't go wrong with cream cheese wontons or pork pot stickers fried to perfection and served with a delicious sauce. But the rice!! The rice is where it's at! Never been able to find another Chinese place with rice that good! Oh, and their egg rolls? Not like those typical tiny wimpy ones. They're giant and delicious! I've yet to find a Chinese place closer to me that's better, so for now I still happily make the drive to China Platter! read more

This was one of the worst Chinese places we have tried. The house fried rice was so bland. Looked like plain white rice that had extra ingredients added. The sesame chicken was just plain awful. I can't even describe it. The beef and broccoli was okay but didn't make up for the rest of the meal. We just moved here and were very disappointed with this restaurant. read more

This used to be a great place to get Chinese food. We ordered here this week and it was the worst we've had in a long time. Everything tasted like it had been heated up in the microwave, nothing fresh. We were starving, but still wouldn't eat what they offered. Their food is good, but their service sucks! First off last time I went in, he charged me twice. This time when we went in to get pick up food their credit card machine was down. We stood around for 20 minutes waiting for them to try to get it back up. After explaining to whom I think was the owner that we couldn't wait any longer because we were late getting back for lunch he asked don't you have any cash? IF we had cash we would of paid cash from the start instead of standing around wasting our time. I and my spouse went to China Platter the other for the first and last time. We just recently moved to the area and wanted some Chinese food. We walk in and it's a cool looking place, so far so good. Someone greets us and seats us. We start looking the menu and another couple sits down. We see 2-3 waitress it's not a big place so they're not that busy. About 5 min in we're ready to order, no sign of any waitress and then I see the waitress helping this couple that came in after us she took their order and walked right past us and never said anything we wait another 5 min and nothing no waitress wanting to help us. I call BS on this. If I like a place guess what I come back very frequently they just lost my business and I hope this review helps others. The food might be good but the service sucks ass. Ordered take out on Sat night. Not as good as any of the previously ordered, hundreds of, meals we've had from there since 2003. Chow mein was mostly celery and onions with very few pieces bland chicken. Gen. Tso chicken was pretty good but lacked enough sauce. The batter on the deep fried chicken while tasty didn't seem especially fresh. Hopefully this was an off night and our next visit will be more like what we've come to expect from China Platter in the past. It has a really great atmosphere for eat in dining. And I'd get the China Platter house rice as a take out main dish or for lunch as it has tons of tasty things such as pork, big shrimp, egg, vegs and lightly seasoned. read more

There are very few places that offer such great food at an even better price. Don't let its simple looks and name fool you! I have been going to this place for years for the panang. They do a pretty good job at it, although one time I went and ordered it and got some milky mistake that was masquerading as panang. Needless to say I was about to break this place up. I was highly unsatisfied. I don't know if they got a new chef but me and the group I was with looked at it and immediately knew that someone had to die in order to make this right. I refused to return to this place as they had obviously offended the panang gods and I was not going to come back for at least a year until I knew that they had time to teach the new chef how to make it. I have since returned and it is similar to how it was in the past but still seems like it may not be as spicy. Anyway, we always get the Bo Bo platter and it is very good. I enjoy the plum sauce, it is an excellent dip for your paper wrapped chicken. The curries are all very good. The Chinese items that are ordered by others have been good, but I am a Thai addict, so I focus my attention on the curries. The décor is certainly gaudy albeit fascinating in a too much gold kind of way. It is like you are wearing 3D glasses with all that stuff popping out of the walls and ceiling. Still it is a good place to eat as long as they do not mess up the panang and ruin the whole adventure. read more

Me and my wife came here on Monday, February 5 because we've been coming here for years. I think the restaurant was sold because there were very obvious changes. The menu has changed, the portions are much smaller, previously you'd get 5 or 6 cream cheese wontons as an appetizer that were free and the food was very good. Now there are NO free appetizers, the food is barely average and very expensive. We both had the #11, dinner for 1 with sweet and sour chicken (or pork), rice and chow mein. The sweet & sour chicken and pork were very, very small portions, 4 of 5 tiny pieces of each, where before the portions were huge that there was always leftovers. The young server didn't bother to check on us one time during the meal and we had to ask another person for more water as our glasses were empty. We wanted some wontons after dinner because we were still hungry from the small portions and the server brought them wrapped TO GO and even charged us extra for the sauce. This is the last time I will ever walk through their doors. I have never been so disappointed in my life and we've gone there for years and years. There are several Chinese places in Bountiful and I strongly suggest skipping CHINA PLATTER and taking your business elsewhere. read more
