Picked up a to go order The food was OK, but for the price the portions are extremely small

I picked up a to go order. The food was OK, but I have been to a lot of Chinese restaurants around my area and for the price the portions are way bigger and better food.

Orange Chicken with rice
Q Q.

I ordered the Orange Chicken which is deep fried. The chicken was very dry inside. This is odd because usually if you deep fry chicken it keeps it juicy. Maybe the chicken was old? The rice was nothing special, just had ham and scrambled egg. A bit bland but did have a bit of savory flavor. The lunch special was inexpensive. The service was ok, nothing special. The ambiance was as you would expect from an over done palace. All in all, I would not come here again.

17. Mongolian Beef
Christian Z.

My family and I have been eating here for years. They have higher quality beef & other ingredients than the other like kind establishments in town and are the best value for Thai or Chinese. I crave this place on a regular basis. I personally recommend their Mongolian beef. Their sweet and sour soup also hits the spot with a perfect balance of sweet and Spicy.

Low Lo Mein with Assorted Vegetables.

I loved the cream cheese wontons. So delicious. The low mein was great also; a tad on the dry side, could've used more sauce but the flavor was good. Great staff and owners. Very kind.

Chicken Fried Rice

Ordered takeout on a weekday. You WILL be disappointed by the chicken fried rice. Absolutely horrendous. No bean sprouts, peas, carrots... just see the picture You WILL be disappointed with the pan fried noodles. I could have gone to the store and bought the exact same thing ! I don't have anything good to say about the fried wontons or the tangerine chicken. I've had school lunch chicken of similar quality.

Singapore noodles- really good

I have to give that many stars for their service. The lady serving me was so nice! I got the pineapple curry and it was so good. But I ordered it mild and it was so spicy. She took it back and made it even less spicy and was so great about it and educated me on it. It was a bit less spicy but still too spicy. Everyone else loved it. I loved the Singapore noodles. Loved them. Hubby got the combo plate to try a bunch of things. What we learned is that it is better to do family style instead of combo. You get way more food. The combos leave you wanting more food. The sticky rice wasn't that good. The mangoes were not ripe snd hard snd it was really runny.

This is a no frills, beautifully decorated restaurant. You cannot beat the price and the food is made fresh upon order. The food is good. The flavors are good. This is one of the best lunch spots in Bountiful. You can't beat their lunch menu and you can't beat the price! I recommend any fried chicken dish they serve. The fry on the chicken (orange, lemon, tangerine and others) is light, crispy and delicious! The egg roles are some of the best I've ever had. Lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong. They've been in the same spot for 35 years and their menu hasn't changed much. That says something!

Interior of restaurant

Within this beautifully decorated interior, you will find exceptional service and Chinese food that is healthy tasting. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't overly greasy and salty like every other place. I found the chicken lo mein to be delicious.

The Chinese food here is straight up 5/5 but the fresh delivery boy in the Jeep is a solid 10.

This place is so good. I think it's better than the Mandarin. Everything has great flavor and it's reasonably priced.

Good food. We all ordered the combination platters and it was wonderful. The service was okay but they seem to need more help.

My family comes to the Mandarin as a tradition every New Year's Eve. The interior is stunning, and…read moreI especially love the Christmas decorations! The food is solid; our group typically gets wontons, spring rolls, noodles, fried rice, chicken curry, fried pork, beef and broccoli, and a couple of seafood-based dishes. I'm not a seafood fan, so I avoid those, but I usually enjoy everything else. The one area I feel like there's room for improvement on: the portion sizes are smaller here than other Chinese restaurants I've been to in Utah, so it's not as much of a bang for your buck.

The food itself isn't terrible, but it's not 100$+ good. The service is great, it's clean and a fun…read moreexperience but honestly, not worth the hype or the 30 minute wait. Really caters to Utah's childish palate, with bland sauces and flavorless meat. We ordered the orange peel chicken, cashew chicken, honey walnut shrimp, ham fried rice and shrimp fried rice, and all I could taste was the salty sauce. The cashew chicken was by far the most diverse plate with plenty of green beans, water chestnuts, peppers and cashews, but the flavorless salt sauce overpowered what might have been a beautiful combination. You couldn't taste any spices or herbs. I could go on. Just know it is definitely white people safe, and honestly, Panda is better.

This location will be dearly missed and we are hoping for a new location to open soon. The favorite was the walnut shrimp, crispy and in a cozy savory sweet sauce. Disclaimer: I'm Asian so I have a higher standard for Asian food. But from what I had here, it…read moreisn't even great for American Chinese food. And I'm really puzzled by the high ratings of this place here on Yelp. I had the sautéed beef, which is listed as "Sa Ti" on the menu, so when it was brought out and announced as "sautéed beef," I was a bit confused. While the vegetables were decent, the beef was tough and from the flavor was a cheap cut. The hoisin sauce was not thick enough and a bit too runny like maybe water added.(?) This also made the flavor weak. After the first disappointing bite of beef, I only picked at the vegetables. I didn't finish it nor did I ask for a take home box. In my opinion, looking over at the people at my table (I was at a club meeting), everything looked on the cheap side. They all seemed to enjoy their meals, though. The portions are huge, so you'll get a lot of mediocre food. The service was OK. We were a large party of about 45. They knew beforehand we were coming. We noticed that even though our table was first to order, we were one of the last to get our food. One person at our table got her food significantly later than we did. There was one table that still didn't have their food when we got our checks. Water refills were never checked and neither was my soda. The Dr. Pepper was good... 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

So, that being said, this is a good location. Pre pandemic, they handled crowds well. The line went fast and I never waited long. When everything was totally shut down, they were quick and reliable. Once things started opening up, they kept their dinning room closed for a bit longer. It's a small place, so I respected that they didn't want a lot of people gathering. But I didn't know you had to order online and couldn't just go in. When I showed up, an employee told me to order online and then tell her my name. They would make my food ASAP instead of making me wait 45 minutes. Later, when I would order online from home, it would never take long to be ready. And as for the food, it's always fresh and good. The place is clean. The employees are nice. I've never had any problems here.
