Having trucked in town after 6 days on the road coast to coast, it was God's plan, that I was able to sit down and have actual real, legitimate Chinese food, in this case, Shanghainese food. So, I'm going to start with the Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao). NOT AT ALL bought from the frozen section of a Chinese Supermarket! These were hand made, and I can taste it. Absolutely Delicious when dipped in the Zhenjiang vinegar. Bravo Next, I wanted to thank Dawson, the Owner working the magic, because he gave me a bowl of hot and sour soup that reminded me of my Childhood when another old school Shanghainese aunt made it. It was well balanced with equal sweetness, sourness, and spice. Lastly, the two main dishes, Shanghai Braised Pork and Sauteed Savory Green Beans. Absolute Flavor Bombs! Both paired well with rice, and despite not finishing all my dishes, I ate everything as a late night snack when I returned back to my hotel. I just want to end by saying, it is really nice to be out here in a city like Salt Lake, away from any China towns, and be able to enjoy Authentic Chinese food in a place where cost for supplies are higher, and transportation distances are longer for supplies. It's a small, family-owned place very close to everything in Bountiful. As others have said- absolutely get the juicy Shanghai dumplings- so good, including the sauce! Great little Asian restaurant, that I can't believe I hadn't tried before. What a waste of time, if you haven't tried them yet, don't wait another day. Our first time here so we wanted to try a little of everything, knowing we would be taking a lot home for our twelve year old boy to consume after football practice, and he did. We ordered the following: Shanghai Juicy Dumplings, I'm usually a gyoza guy as I like them pan fried instead of steamed, but these were really tasty and well displayed. 5/5 Shanghai Baby Ribs with plum sauce. Great flavor, a little fatty with the bones in, not a lot of meat. Served in a bowl almost like soup. Kinda on the pricey side, and not worth it imo. 3/5 Walnut Shrimp, loved these, such good flavor. I've had these before un-breaded that I liked a little better, but still excellent. 5/5 Orange Chicken, great flavor, very nicely done. 5/5 Curry Chicken, really good, little bit of a kick. 5/5 Chicken Fried Rice, I love good fried rice, but am kind of picky about it. The food here is so delicious, I was planning my trip back before we were out the door. My grandson and I stopped in for lunch and had two lunch specials. The orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, egg drop soup steamed rice, fried rice and cream cheese wontons. Everything was prepared fresh and was absolutely, stunningly delicious. Came here twice. Overall, they have nice staff and some good dishes but they could use some improvement. Shanghai Soup Dumplings: 4/5. Good but I wish it had more soup. If you don't like vinegar, I recommend eating it without the sauce. Boba milk tea: 2/5. Good taste but the boba balls were deformed and not the right texture. We got 2 drinks and for both drinks the boba kept clogging up the straws and making it very hard to drink. Maybe it was a bad batch but we didn't risk ordering this again when we came in the next time. House Shanghai Fat Noodles: 4/5. Texture of noodles are great. The seasoning is good, as well as the meat (chicken) and vegetables. Could have more seasoning. Potstickers: 4/5. Good taste, good amount of filling, good texture. If you don't like vinegar, I recommend eating it without the sauce. Wonton Soup: 4/5. Big portion. Soup has good flavor. I enjoyed the vegetables, other than the broccoli and carrots (tasted not fresh or undercooked). Texture of the dumplings were great but they had little filling compared to the Shanghai Soup Dumplings and Potstickers. Ham Fried Rice: 1/5. Rice texture was hard and it tasted like it was seasoned with just soy sauce. House Crispy Chicken: 4/5. Nice crunch and taste. Scallion Pancake: 2/5. Texture is nice and crispy but the flavor is nothing special. Needs more seasoning and maybe a dipping sauce to go with it. Not sure if I will come here again. My daughter and I came here for a lunch date on a Wednesday around noon. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, grabbed some menus, and sat at a table in the back. We had the restaurant to ourselves for a little while and it was nice. The menu looked so good and I was glad they included photos of the food. Would rate 0 if I could. We never got everything in our full order, and our shrimp lo mein was incorrect. We ordered takeout and didn't realize until we drove 15 mins home and opened it to eat. Then we drove ALL the way back for our 2 missing orders of cream cheese wontons and to get the correct shrimp lo mein. The owner said he can't refund us or make it now as they're closing soon. So he said "he would remember us and to come back another time for it" for our order that we already PAID FOR mind you , and get the correct food and missing food for free. (Even tho it isn't free since we PAID already and he refused a refund ) So we just went back and the owner was there claiming to remember us and then refused to give us our food and was screaming at us saying we were scamming him. Never got our TWO ORDERS of cream cheese wontons or our shrimp lo mein- both of which we PAID for and never got refunded and instead had a horrible time , DROVE THERE AGAIN, and dealt with this HORRIBLE service. This owner needs to learn a thing or two about customer service and about "scamming people" as he claimed we were trying to do. That's 9.95x 2 for the wontons that we NEVER GOT. almost 20 bucks he scammed us there. And then 14.95 for the shrimp lo mein. We paid 66 bucks and some change total .. so he scammed us for half of our meal. Just refused to give us our food when we returned for the food this time and our refund the day of. I loved the authentic, delicious Shanghainese food here. Some of my favorites: 1) rice cakes with shepherds purse and pork- texture and flavor of rice cakes were amazing! Very different from usual Chinese takeout but definitely worth a try 2) eggplant w/ garlic sauce- classic dish with tons of flavor Also tried the chow mein, braised pork with soy sauce, which were mediocre. Wished the soup dumplings were a bit juicier, but was happy enough just finding authentic ones in town. Overall, very satisfied with the meal and speed at which it was prepared.
