    Dinner No. 2
    Angela R.

Davids kitchen is always a favorite go to! Today I took my grandkids.! It was a hit! We ordered a Dinner No 2 and cleared our plates. Thank you Henry for always making us feel at home. The service, food and ambience is just right for a casual lunch or dinner!

    Pot stickers medium spice

Pot stickers and wonton soup, orange chicken, house fried rice, pepper beef, and walnut shrimp are my fav foods here.. Service gets better the more you go. Family style portions, ambiance is welcoming traditional chino. Big open seating, can handle large parties. Eat there.

Came for an early dinner today with my cousin. Definitely an old school authentic Chinese restaurant feel with the dimmed lights and vintage decor. We ordered the family style meal option for 2 (egg rolls, fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, beef broccoli) the walnut shrimp entree & potstickers for appetizers. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything tasted good! My fav would be the potstickers, fried rice & walnut shrimp. Reasonably priced, great service & authentic Chinese food!

For starters, we ordered the Wor Wonton Soup. The broth was rich and hearty. The shrimps were large and plentiful. All the vegetables blended in with the flavors. I just wish the beef was a little more tender. A little marinade in baking soda would fix this. We ordered some chicken lettuce wraps. This has minced chicken, celery, bamboo shoots, and carrots. These are good by themselves but are best with hoisin sauce. I just wish the lettuce leaves were bigger. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was also good. The sauce had a nice blend of mayo, honey and lemon. It had a little too much breading for me but still tasted good. For $16.99, I wished there was a bit more shrimp. One thing I really appreciate - they GLAZE the walnuts! This is one of the few places that I actually like the sauce and they glaze the walnuts! The Crispy Beef is definitely my favorite. In fact, I think this is better than the one I get from Red Maple. It was not too sweet and had just the right amount of heat. Again, I really wish they would marinate the beef in baking soda to soften it up. The last dish we ordered was the Garlic Chicken. The server forgot to put the order in for this dish and there was a rush to get it out to us. They forgot to put garlic in this dish so wee sent it back. It was perfect when it came back. This place is fast becoming our go-to-place for Chinese Food. It's was a nice surprise and I'll can't wait to try the other dishes!

This tastes like mom's kitchen if mom had a high flamed gas stove. The dishes that benefited from that smoky hot wok flavor had it. I was so excited to eat I forgot to take pics of all the dishes at the table. Green beans with garlic was so tasty, I finished the leftovers the same night, I remembered to take a photo in the takeout container. The cauliflower (I don't know the actual name but it's stir fried, spicy and comes with peppers) had wok hei and I couldn't stop eating it. Beef rolls is the sophisticated auntie of the scallion pancake. Think of it like an asian burrito with thin sliced beef, fresh scallion and cilantro, and a touch of hoisin all hugged together with a crispy tasty scallion pancake. The shredded potato tastes like the best potato salad that isn't your picnic potato salad. The shredded potatoes were quickly blanched then stir fried preserving the crunch and crispness similar to al dente pasta. Seasoning was on point. The homiest flavor came from the stewed short rib. The rib pieces were braised in a soy and star anise sauce like what you find in Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The peels potatoes were cut rustically and just cooked through and not mushy. Authentic flavors and freshness like this is so so hard to come by. I can taste the quality of the ingredients used. One tip I have for selecting authentic food is by looking at the customers. If the customers are all Asian eating at an Asian restaurant, you know the food is going to be good. Service was 10/10, waitress was super polite and stopped by to chat with us about the food and SLC. I am from out of town but I grew up eating at NYC Asian restaurants and this is as good as if not better. If you happen to stop by the largest Costco in the world, make a pit stop here to refuel after all those steps.

I couldn't tell you what they put in it other than to tell you, it doesn't matter. Well I could tell you that it has green onion and char siu. The thing I order every single time is the beef roll. The look of the restaurant inside has changed a few times. when I was there last there was a casual seating area at the back of the restaurant. There were people there waiting for takeout orders. I really enjoyed the great chow mein with the beef. Next time I might try it with chicken or pork because the beef was a little hard to chew for my liking. The noodles tasted delicious and flavorful. I always have to order the cold cucumber salad. It is a great accompaniment to any dish. I added the peanuts to the cucumbers because I really like them together so if you order the cucumbers, they will not come with peanuts. It is a strange request, but they accommodated me with no problem. They had a case at the front of the restaurant with grapes and strawberries, skewered and coated in a crunchy sugary coating. It was a little bit messy, but I did not mind because it tasted so good. The strawberries were super sweet, fresh and juicy with a thin, sweet crunchy shell. I will try the grapes next time. We ordered: Fried rice - the corn in the fried rice tasted almost spoiled Beef brocoli - the beef was tender but not as tasty or fresh Garlic ribs - cut into small portions was not what I expected and a little dry Only great was the service and those fruit on a stick in the glass counter. Conveniently, we are in town for a couple days and our hotel is just right down the road. It was only right to mark this joint off my SLC food list. We came in around 5 and it was empty. My MIL and I picked a booth by the windows. I enjoy seeing the buzz of this city. It's was chaotic outside but so chill inside. It was nice to have the joint to ourselves. Jay served us tonight. He dropped off a couple menus and got some waters started for us. It was my MIL's first time trying Vietnamese cuisine. It took her a minute to breeze over the menu. As much as I wanted everything, I started off with a cup of the hot and sour soup. For dinner I got the black bean shrimp with veggies. My MIL decided on the bun thit nuong with cha gio. Last minute my MIL decided on some hot and sour soup too. They were dropped off first and it was perfect for hot soup on this cold winter day. The broth was thick and flavorful. It had hearty pieces of tofu, water chestnuts and bamboo shoots. The soup had a good heat to it. The heat didn't hit you right away, it gradually got spicier the more you ate it. My mouth was burning towards the end of my bowl. It was good but it could have been a bit more sour. My plate of black bean shrimp and veggies came out hot! The veggies looked fresh and colorful. The shrimp were plump. And the sauce smelled flavorful and salty from the fermented black bean. You can tell my dish just came out fresh from the wok. The veggies and shrimp were so hot! The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The zucchini, green peppers and bamboo shoots were my favorite. All the veggies were covered in sauce, probably the best way to eat your veggies. I ate the whole plate! I'm not the biggest fan of water chestnuts and I even polished those off. My dish was fantastic. Jay did a great job serving us tonight. He was patient and attentive. He checked up on us several times even though he was so busy with to go orders. The location of this joint was so convenient. Even though it was freezing out, it was cool to walk to dinner. But it's also got to know they have parking available for their guests. Jay did a great job taking care of us tonight. And the food was spot on. I still have quite a few places I need to hit up when I'm in SLC but if we stay in the area again, I will have to hit up Red Lotus again. It was hands down a great meal and experience.

My sister and I were actually looking up dinner options last night while we were at dinner. We like to plan ahead. We wanted some chow fun, did some research and found Beijing. This joint is about 10 minutes away from our Airbnb. We pulled up, walked in and was in awwww at how pretty this joint is. It was bright, colorful and beautifully decorated. It's one of the prettiest Chinese restaurants I have seen in town. It was slow so my sister and I got sat right away. We ordered our hot tea and dinner at the same time. I got the chow fun with chicken. I was hoping for fried tofu but it wasn't an option. My sister got the chow fun special which came with chicken, beef and shrimp. We were sipping on our tea for a bit and our food was already done. Mannnnn did our chow fun look amazing! You can smell the char from the wok. The noodles looked chunky. There was a lot of chicken, sprouts and onion through out the dish. It was a beautiful plate of chow fun. The noodles were chewy and soft. The chicken was velveted so it was tender and soft. The sprouts and onion added a nice crunchy element to the dish. It was savory. It was a hearty plate of noodles and honestly my sister and I probably could have shared a plate. I ate about a third of it and still have a a whole to go box container for tomorrow. I will be finishing that box even if it takes a couple days to complete. It's too good to waste. The staff was really nice here. The venue is clean, bright and modern. The chow fun they pushed out today was stellar. It was one of the best meals I have had in SLC.
