Don't eat. 3x Hair in food and server couldn't care less. We were here on a Thursday afternoon. The place was not busy and yet they managed to do everything wrong. First they spilled water on my wife (and did not apologize, we let that go). Then they got us cold soup and egg rolls that were still cold from inside!! The most abhorrent part was what happened next. The lomein chicken had not one but two hair strands in it. We returned the dish and still gave them the benefit of doubt. But then the schezwan shrimp also had a hair !!!!! Unbelievable. The city of Layton should shut down this place. read more

Very sad we didn't try this place sooner! Absolutely delicious! Each dish has its own unique flavor, and it's all good. I strongly recommend trying the not deep fried chicken dishes while delicious, the absolute star was the vegetables in garlic sauce. Moo Shu pork was also delicious! My coworkers and I were searching for a quick spot for dinner when we came across China Hill on google. This place is definitely small, and on a Friday evening it was empty. There were quite a few people coming in for pick-up orders, so I'm assuming its primarily a take-out spot. This place looks clean but very dated. Super long dark curtains on every window, little trinkets... the vibes are definitely.... different. Our party of 3 ordered from the dinner combos. Great deal. For around $13 you get soup (Egg Flower or Hot & Sour), crab rangoons (aka cheese crab wantons), and your entrée of choice. I ordered the chicken low mein. Each entrée comes with fried rice, so keep that in mind. Flower egg soup is the bomb. Very similar to egg drop, but with some corn. Crab rangoons weren't the best I've had but still hit the spot. Chicken low mein was as expected, really average. Worth the cheap price though, for the amount of food. The waiter was very kind. He did forget some refills, but no biggie. We did end up having to pay at the front, which we weren't aware was expected. Overall, cheap, quick spot. Not a date night pick, but still decent. Kind staff. read more

Again, great service, even with to go during a pandemic. Called in order, weekday lunch was ready in given time frame, handled in a manner I felt professional and "healthy," and perfect portions. I HATE having leftovers that may go to waste. Ordered twice cooked pork dinner special for lunch. Very, very tasty. Wanted something not fried and with veggies. Not over-sauced - yeah! I can appreciate the small modifications they did to offset (I'm assuming) financial challenges with no in dining: no substitution of egg roll for 2 cream cheese wontons, and dinner pricing for lunch portions. Three of us just ate there. We had eaten there several years ago but the menu is very different now. The orange chicken was just as you would expect orange chicken. Nothing special, nothing bad. The mongolian beef had very little flavor. The cashew shrimp was inedible. I honestly could not eat it. It was so salty that even the vegetables were almost impossible to eat. If I scraped some of the sauce off and hid them in the rice, I could eat some of them. The shrimp tasted very strong like they were old. Even my husband sitting next to me could smell them. The portions were large, the soups were good. Overall it was mediocre food at best and the cashew shrimp was not good at all. We will not be returning. read more

We really like China Hill. We usually get it to go, since we live close by, but we have eaten in the restaurant before and the service was great. Their takeout service is really fast- usually only about 10 minutes unless you order pot stickers - they take a little longer. My one complaint is that the spicy dishes aren't spicy, and I'm not that guy that tries to ring the Scoville Scale bell...burning off my eye brows with my own breath in the process. But if it says it's spicy, I want a little zing-zing. If you request for them to make it extra spicy, you'll get a little zing zing and your eyebrows will stay intact. Things I really like at China Hill - pot stickers, egg rolls, Hunan, Szechuan or Generals beef or chicken (extra spicy) and house lo mein. My wife is big on their sweet n sour chicken. read more

I've gotten my order first before my two friends and it's took almost 30 min to bring our the second one and 10 on the other plate but she told us she would bring the chicken out before the rice so it won't get cold. We have been waiting for about 50 min and still haven't gotten their fried rice. We are the only sit down table it's not busy and it's awkward I got my rice than my other friends. I was just there on Friday, I ordered BBQ slices, lettuce wrap, shrimp tempura and the only customer in the restaurant at the time. The food was TERRIBLE and so dry especially the BBQ slices, chicken wrap was the worst I've ever had with NO noodles just the meat with vegetables and lettuces, I didn't finish any of my food, that's how terrible it was. My first time there and LAST for sure. I wasted my hard earned money on food I didn't even enjoy eating i regret going there so much and will never go back. read more

Lunch today I ordered Chicken Chow Mein lunch combo that included ham fried rice, egg roll and hot & sour soup. There were only 3 other tables with customers so they sat me quickly, brought my water and took my order, the girl was friendly but was hard to understand what she was saying because I think she was talking a bit Chinese, no big deal! My meal came out quickly hot and cooked fresh, everything was good, the hot & sour soup could have been spicier for me, it was a bit on the sweet side. From reading others posts I believe I can answer a couple of your complaints. I do think they cook the chicken in advance and then chop it into small pieces, I'm okay with this, it seems it would be safer handling, I think they steam the whole breast and then chop it up for the stir fried dishes. I believe they use frozen mixed vegetables in their ham fried rice, that's why it gives it a day old taste. Anyway, yea this place is good and quick, I enjoyed my lunch experience. I have passed by here many times and never came in simply because the outside is very old and deteriorated, I thought it closed down with how bad it looks outside. Maybe try replacing your signs and updating outside and more people will stop inside. I ordered online and they said it would be ready in 7 minutes. I got the chicken Teriyaki and it was actually very good! There was plenty of chicken and rice and gave extra teriyaki sauce. It came with and egg roll. There was nothing special about the egg roll, I honestly wonder if it was frozen. I would definitely try this place again! We found ourselves at China Hill by total accident when my mom decided she wanted Chinese food. On a Sunday. Not a simple request here in Utah but the lit neon sign beckoned and we gave this place a try. I have to be forthcoming and tell you I judge Chinese food places by the hot and sour soup. Some make it hot, few make it sour, and very few make it a combination of the two. This place did a great job and I found myself wanting another cup that I could slurp through the oversized spoon. I also ordered the 3 Kinds which had plenty of beef, chicken, and even shrimp. The flavor was good, the food was hot, and the service was mediocre. My only issue was that the lunch menu stated that lunch combinations were served daily from 11-3. Sunday is apparently not a "day" at China Hill and we had to order larger portions from the dinner menu. read more

We found this place on a whim and it is such a hidden gem! We ordered takeout and everything was covid friendly/compliant. The beef & green beans was some of the best I've ever had! The beef was tender and the beans were perfectly cooked. We also really enjoyed the sesame chicken! Other things we liked were the sweet and sour chicken and the chicken and broccoli. This is an awesome restaurant! We just discovered it and I'm so glad we have such a great Chinese restaurant in Layton. We ordered out for our family of 4 and all of their dishes were fresh and delicious. The customer service was great; they were friendly and take out was right on time. Great hot n sour soup!!! That is the first thing I check for at sit-in Chinese restaurants...and this place passed with flying colors. Their lunch menu is from 10:30am-3pm so I ordered seasame chicken from that with steamed rice. The egg roll that comes with it was not the greatest, that is for sure. The chicken was superb! This used to be a really good place to eat. But this time it was a real disappointment. There was two of us who went in for lunch and ordered off the lunch menu. When they brought the food, it didn't have the soup or side dishes. So we did ask for the soup. The service was really bad in that they never checked on us or brought our check. So we got up and went to the register and found out they had charged us for dinner prices and charged us for the soup that usually came with the lunch. So the price for what we thought we ordered was almost double. This was outrageous. So we paid the bill. No tip. Will never go to this place again. read more

I think I might have found the new Chinese place in Layton. We got a coupon in the mail, so we thought we'd give it a shot. The place is clean, like I think that somebody that works there is OCD. I'm not complaining. It's the typical Chinese restaurant atmosphere. A Chinese lucky cat greets you at the door & there are ceramic decorations everywhere. The dining room is a little small, but judging by its proximity to HAFB, as long as you don't go during lunch time on a week day, I doubt you'd ever have to wait for a table. The menu has the normal canon of dishes & entrees to choose from. (No tiny spicy chicken. Boo.) They also have a complete sushi menu. I'm not sure why, but I decided to order some nigiri. I never order sushi from these types of places. I think I've done it once before. Ever. And it wasn't pleasant. I'm guessing that the immaculately cleanliness of the place tempted me. The sushi was okay, not great but since this isn't a straight-up sushi place, I'll give them full credit for it. I ordered a pork dish & my wife had a chicken dish. Both were really good. Proportions were the typical heaping dish size. Which is good because it means that I have leftover Chinese for lunch today. read more

Ughhhhh. After being stranded at Hill AFB for a week I decided to stay in and make it a netflix night. I called in my order and picked up. It is literally 15 seconds from the base at the top of the hill. I went at 7pm on a Sunday and it was completely empty. I had to ask for military discount. I ordered 4 egg rolls. They were spring rolls with pork. Very thin wrappers. I ordered beef and asparagus. I swear they gave me every nasty end piece they had. I spit out every single piece that wasn't obviously a tip. I'm terribly disappointed. Then I opened the container of "beef lo mein" to find flat white noodles and a grayish-white beef. Sad again... The only saving grace was my husbands general tso's chicken because I haven't tried it yet. He's not home and I'm over this. After I finish writing this review I'm getting a Caesar salad and steak to go from Outback. So incredibly bummed. -------- UPDATE By 930 pm I was vomiting.
