I tried this restaurant based on Google review. I am very happy I did. Nice bright sitting area. Awesome customer service as soon as you walk in. I ordered the lunch special of chicken lol mein with egg drop soup and egg roll. The soup was a nice soothing broth with egg drops and corn. Seasoned mild but I was OK with that. The egg roll was crispy with veggies and good flavor. The four star comes from the CLM. The lo mein noodles were so tender and delicious, but there was not a lot of chicken to be found. I order the broccoli chicken to go and am excited to try. Overall very happy for a first time visit and more in my future. read more

Walking in you can tell it's different just from the vibe. I asked the woman up front when she seated us if it was under new management because the menu was smaller and streamlined. She said no same owners just hired employees because they wanted to be home more then I get a notice saying thanks for dining at Mexican food promotion LLC. I don't understand the need to mislead but hey. Now for the food it was TERRIBLE!!! Beef with broccoli had what tasted like watered down brown gravy for the meal. Don't fear the Dragon. While I wasn't blown away by this place it wasn't terrible either. This is more of a takeout spot but they do have dine in. The dining area was clean and basic. I went with the Szechuan chicken lunch special. The egg drop soup was ok. Very little vegetables. They give you the option for either wok or deep fry for the entre. I went with deep fried. The sauce was good but I couldn't detect any spicyness. Next the fried rice had good flavor and plenty of ham but it was dry. The egg roll was poor. It had a nice crispy outside but the middle way vegetable mush. Lastly there just wasn't a lot of food. If you have a big appetite then this won't be enough to fill you up. This has been a fav of my family for years . However, since I have started seeing many new faces it has taken a really terrible turn. The service, the food, and even the menu has changed. They no longer make Hot and sour soup . Also major increases in prices as well . My plate that used to be 10 or 11 dollars was 16 . Last time I took two bites of my food and left the plate just sitting there and left. I was going to complain about my generals chicken that smelled of shrimp for some reason. But nobody came to ask me how my meal was. I didn't even get a water. Later I got hives because I'm allergic to shrimp. For 10 years I took my grandmother every wed for lunch. The wife and I picked up some take-out here after a massive craving for Chinese food. She got Kung Pow Beef, I got General Tso's Chicken and Egg Drop Soup. We split an order of dumplings and crab rangoon. Probably the least favorite thing we had was the crab rangoon. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't all that great - The dumplings were not the usual ones that I've had for years. They were actual dumplings instead of the gyoza that you see in all the restaurants. Different spices. My wife and I enjoyed them quite a bit. The General Tso's suffers from what all food in Utah suffers from - the Utah palate doesn't do spice. Great flavor, but no heat. The Kung Pow Beef was very good, with lots of veggies and peanuts mixed in. To be honest, I think my favorite part was the Egg Drop soup. You know how most Egg Drop is this neon yellow artificial stuff? Not this place. It looks and tastes almost like it was made in house, and it wouldn't shock me if it was. We have gone to this restaurant multiple times and loved it but went the first week. In January 2025 and it was absolutely horrible! Not sure if it was sold or what but we will NOT be going back. This restaurant must be under new ownership, because the decor is nothing like the photo. The tables are all wood, black lacquer, all the walls are bare, except for the picture at the entrance. The walls are orange, not red. It was about 5 O'clock when I got there, traveling from the east coast, looking forward to a good meal in Layton before heading further North. I was the only person in the place, bad sign. A few people came in to pickup takeout while I was there. Typical Chinese American menu, all the usual suspects! I ordered Shrimp Egg Foo Young. I got three large, factory made egg & potato pancakes. These were too uniform to be made anywhere else but a frozen food manufacturer. The cakes were round, about 3-inch in diameter & a 1/2-inch thick. They were deep fat fried & had that spongy texture you get when you thaw cooked eggs out after they have been frozen. The sauce was garlicky, very clear and dark it had a slight acidic burn from sorbate-another frozen product; bagged sauce. Just recently moved to the area from Ogden and I have had a hard time finding my new go to Chinese restaurant. I have tried a few of em out in this area and so far this place is my favorite! I've actually ordered a lot recently in the last month. The generals TSO and Imperial Dragon chicken are bomb! So tasty. The soft noodle Lo mein is delicious and chicken fried rice is yummy! The egg drop soup is also amazing. My only thing I would love to see here is CRAB wontons. The customer service at this place is also on point! I had the orange chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. The chicken was all white meat and the fried rice was tasty. The egg roll was just meh, but I typically don't eat egg rolls anyway. It just came with the lunch special. My husband had chicken lo mein with shrimp instead of egg roll, and loved it all. Service was good. The server was quiet, but attentive. Easily The Best Chinese Food and One of The Best Restaurants In Utah I have now lived in Utah for over a year, and in that time frame, I've searched high and low for good food. I can count on one hand all of the places I've been to that I would consider returning to...Imperial Garden currently sits at the top of the list. I called in for a takeout order and was greeted by a friendly staff member. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken since this is my go to for any Chinese restaurant. This was probably the best version of this dish that I have ever tasted in my life. The chicken, which were not small pieces, were sliced strips fried in such a way that the crunch from each bite was perfect. The rice was good as well. And the magic of the dish was the sauce itself. Just the right amount of sweet and flavorful. I refrained from eating the whole dish and saved half just so I could eat more of it the next day. I think next time I will choose to dine-in just to get the full effect. Imperial Dragon now has a regular customer. read more

This place has amazing food. I've never dined in but had delivery several times. The food always arrives hot and fresh. They also wrap the foam containers in Saran Wrap to make sure you don't open a huge mess! The Szechuan beef is amazing! I've had it several times. Our go-to Chinese was Dagon Hill, but after calling them Saturday night they said they weren't accepting any more orders for the night. After searching we found Imperial Dragon and we are hooked. They were friendly, quick, and authentic. We ordered lettuce wraps, S&S pork, Walnut Shrimp and Orange chicken ( spectacular) . The ham fried rice was the best I've ever had. I grew up with some amazing Chinese food in SLC and it is really hard to find good Chinese food in the Layton area. This was okay, not great. I was very disappointed with the cashew chicken. It was made with a white sauce. I have never seen cashew chicken made with white sauce. It had very little flavor. My husband liked the beef with broccoli, but I thought it was bland. The noodles were pretty good. We liked the pork. I did like the sesame chicken, the hot and sour soup, and the egg rolls. But I'm not sure I would come back. I don't get the low ratings!! Maybe it's because I don't eat in the restaurant and never have. I've ordered delivery from them for over a year and they're so delicious! It takes about an hour to get your food, but they wrap everything in saran wrap so nothing leaks, and the food is always hot and delicious. I love their walnut shrimp and orange chicken. The delivery guys are always so friendly and definitely worth the delivery tip. Love them! And it's nice they actually deliver. Screw you, Utah. YOu suck at delivery options. read more
