The food we had at LA Chois was solid. Three of our party wanted Honey walnut shrimp so we ordered 2 orders of it. The servings were quite large and we could've gotten by with one order of it along with something else. The costing on the shrimp was crispy and stayed crispy. The sauce was creamy and reminded me of a delicious honey butter. We also tried the spicy coconut chicken and even though it was really tasty, the spicy was hard to detect. Pretty much everything I touched in there was grimy. The table, the chairs, the credit card, check tray; it was just gross and I didn't feel at all comfortable there. It looks really dated on the inside. I ordered hot and sour soup which was spicy. It was noted as spicy on the menu. I don't like spicy anything and I don't like dealing with the stomach issues later either. I asked for a to go cup so I could take it to my husband, but they said that they don't do that there. For a place whose sales are primarily takeout, I doubt that true. So you're telling me you don't offer soup to takeout customers? Right. I don't like being lied to. For nearly $4 for such a small bowl, you could be a little more flexible. See picture. I don't like wasting food so I ate it anyways. I then could barely taste my dinner and I now have a stomachache. My son ordered ramen; and the noodles weren't ramen, they were spaghetti noodles! Seriously? There was pork in his bowl and my dish and despite the spicy dish, I could taste how freezer burned it was. I had to ask for a refill of water and there was no one there eating and no one picking up a to go order. We won't be back. I wouldn't be surprised if this place got written up by the health department. They charge more than other Chinese food equivalent places and seem to be cutting corners wherever they can. read more

Definitely our favorite Chinese food in this area and some of the best anywhere. Reasonable prices and always delicious food. We have eaten in but very seldom as we usually grab take out from here after work at least once or twice every week. The family that owns this place is great. Very friendly and happy to get you whatever you need. I like to talk football with the 2 brothers when I come in to pick up my order. Our favorites are the noodles (both beef and chicken curry are awesome). Firecracker chicken is delicious and their soups are excellent too! read more

Well, I had high hopes for this place, but alas am disappointed. To preface, I haven't had good or authentic Chinese food since moving to Utah 2 years ago, and I still haven't. I ordered cream cheese crab wonton and *extra spicy curry noodles. What I received was refrigerator cold cream cheese wontons and a bland slop of curry gravy and spaghetti noodles. I sensed zero spice, and the food was bland. This all costs 20 bucks, but I was fine with the price if I finally found good Chinese food. I will not be back as these people also only cook to the bland Mormon pallets and clearly have no pride in their product. read more

This has become one of my go-to places. The service is friendly and usually fast and the prices are reasonable for the serving size you get. I love their Teriyaki Salmon Bento Box, which I highly recommend. Their Walnut Shrimp is also pretty good. During lunch though, I usually get their noodles, like Lo Mein, Spanish Noodles, Singapore Noodles etc. Also, try their Boba drinks. My favorite is their Mango Boba shake. read more

Went here because it is one of the few Chinese/American restaurants left in the area. I like these restaurants for their American options like Breaded Veal and Chicken fried steak. I got the breaded veal and got frozen patties smothered in gravy with mashed potatoes and veg. Most of these places bread fresh veal and cook fresh so frozen was a sad surprise. Service was good but it appeared the one server was handling hosting and all waitress duties. The atmosphere is dingy, tables had a coat of oil on them, and the place smelled old and musty. On the bright side, the wife got as Asian seafood dish that she found very enjoyable and the portion was big enough that she ate for three days. read more

I used to go here a lot. I started going back when they were in their Layton location. Since then I still go but not as often as I used to. I'm not sure if they changed recipes or if my expectation of food has changed but I have decided that my love of this place is lost. Recently I have started ordering more Asian items at a variety of Asian restaurants. I, also, have been cooking it more. With this I thought it'd be nice to try different items here at la choi as well. However, I've decided that of the many various dishes I've tried at la choi there's only a few good ones. Their chow mein is very good. Their orange maple chicken, wonton soup and foo young are all good too. Unfortunately, that's where it stops. Lo mein is mediocre, as is their fried shrimp, wontons, hot and sour soup, emperor's delight, sweet and sour anything, etc. Their fried rice is pretty bad and their egg drop soup is a joke. I can almost guarantee that they take a number 10 can of corn, dump it into a pot, add a little (if any) chicken broth, some yellow dye, heat it up, swirl it around adding in probably 2 beaten eggs for the whole can, and then thicken it with corn starch slurry. I don't mind vegetables in egg drop soup, in fact, I like them. However, I don't expect egg drop to taste like canned corn liquids. I'd rate 1 star but their few items that I listed that were good are worth trying. Just save yourself a few hundred dollars that I've spent on exploring their menu - if you don't you've been warned. The problem is they either don't answer their phone, or they decide to close during their regular business hours. I guess this is the kind of restaurant that does not like serving food. I ordered the Sweet and sour chicken. Yeah shouldn't I branch out? No. I know if that item is to my liking other things will be too. The place had a weird energy. The music was loud. I liked their egg roll. It was longer than most. Their wontons tasted different than I have had and the sauce was gross so I got the waiter to give me sauce on the side for my entree thinking it might be the same. It wasn't. My entree sauce was decent. The chicken was weird tasting and dry. The fried shrimp was doughy. I swear the fried rice was uncle bens or the soy sauce was Kari out. There was no flavor to the soy or rice after putting it on. The rice was way orange and the texture was weird. Lately these restaurants wanna save money and horrible soy is something they choose. 2 stars for customer service and no food poisoning. The waiter was super nice. read more

This is a very simple neighborhood Chinese restaurant. I tend to like their chef specials like General Tso or Sizzling Hong Kong Steak as they use the best meat so for chicken it is all white meat. They have some really good specials every so often as well the Firecracker Chicken they have now is great if you like spice. The service is very friendly. read more
