I've been to this restaurant about five times now and also ordered takeout once, and every single experience has been excellent. The food is consistently delicious whether I'm dining in or taking it to go. One of my absolute favorites is the oolong tea--so flavorful and comforting! Even though it's about a 20-minute drive for me and I pass several other Chinese restaurants along the way, this is the one I keep coming back to. Cute location and the hostess/server is an incredibly sweet woman. Prices and portions are just right for the price. Sichuan chicken is the go-to, hot and sour soup is tasty. Lunch comes with 3 fried wontons, they are however, empty with no cream cheese inside, so that was a little bit odd. Nice and clean, there was a birthday lunch going on and the view looks out on historic Ogden Station. We were seated immediately and the food was ready very quickly. read more

There was some noisy event going on in Union Station, which adjoins Yu's Maple Garden, and the restaurant was pretty much empty. Undeterred by the lack of diners, we forged ahead and of course, got seated immediately. Our shared order was egg rolls and beers, which totalled $15.90, a quite reasonable sum. The egg rolls were good, not excellent, but the beer was very cold and very fresh. Sheree was our server, and she was most attentive, which we appreciated, being the only diners. I sure hope business picks up for them, I'd like to go back some day and order more than an appetizer. read more

Tried to call and place a takeout order. The guy just kept saying hello over and over and then hanging up. Called back 4 times all the guy would say is hello. It wasn't until the last call that he said Maple. Should have said I can't hear you or something is wrong with the phone instead of just saying hello over and over again. read more

I was looking forward to eating here tonight because the food was always so good at the old location. Service was extremely fast, but as mentioned in other comments, the server was not friendly at all until we were on the way out the door. My brother had S&S Pork, and it was so tough he could not eat it. The rice was bland, and wontons were not great either. My son had Beef Broccoli and said it didn't have much flavor. The Szechewan Chicken was decent. Food was barely a step up from Panda Express. Unfortunately we won't be back. Just not as good as it used to be. read more

I was so excited when I heard that Maple was back!! I still remember those lunch specials at the original Maple. Yum! Now located inside the Union Station, it is pretty much the same as what I remember. You can still order the lunch special and it's good! I always get the schezuwan chicken with the rice and egg drop soup. My husband is more adventurous and tries new things but I stick to what I know. I will always love the egg drop soup and think it's the highlight of the meal for me. I swear the wontons used to have a little piece of meat in them but these ones don't. They are legit just a fried wonton. Unless my meat just got missed or something but I don't think they have meat anymore since it's been like that twice. I liked them better before. The rice is the same. The main thing that bugs me and it's happened both times that I've gone is that they always make a huge fuss when I ask for lemon wedges. I love to eat my rice with a few squeezes of lemon. The first time we went, the lady refused to give us any and the second time, she said that was fine but they cost .10 a wedge. Ok, weird. I understand they have to cover cost but she told me if I was squeezing them into my Pepsi, she would give me some but if I want them for my food, then I need to pay. Hmmm. That just doesn't make sense. I told her it was fine to charge me. She asked how many slices I want and I said, um.... four? I felt like she made a bigger deal about it than it should be. So here's my take on Yu's. I feel like the food is pretty much the same as before but there's something a little different. I'm not sure what just yet but it's there. Still very tasty. The service is fast and you get a huge amount of food. The service, while fast, seems to be a little lacking. The owner stopped by to check on us once and I asked for a Togo order of rice and her response was a little condescending but I'm just going to assume that her personality is such and I shouldn't take it personal. I do want my lemon wedges though!! We will go back because we enjoy the food. We don't sense a warm, fuzziness from the owner or staff but that's just how some people work. No big deal at this point and not enough to make us not want to go again. It's worth trying if you were one of the original lovers of Maple Garden. read more

The "old" Maple Garden was a family & workplace favorite. Since opening in the Union Station, I have been three separate times. Each time a bigger disappointment than the previous. Today was the worst. Ordered takeout. I asked for a LARGE Hot & Sour soup. (I know some places don't offer a large, but will suggest two single servings.) I also ordered the House Lo-Mien & Szechwan Chicken. The soup was a single serving, the Lo-Mien was all noodles (which isn't all bad) but had very little protein. (That's why one orders "House," the variety of protein) The Szechwan was just that. No white rice, nothing. This new(ish) location is a disappointment. read more

What excellent food in an enchanting atmosphere! I had the Szechuan chicken with ham fried rice and it was so good I scraped my plate clean and wanted to lick it. The soup and fried wontons were excellent too. The service was friendly, and my wife commented on how quickly we were served. The location for this restaurant is at the heart of the history of Ogden, Utah. It is on the south side of Union Station. Wednesday through Saturday afternoons a person can tour the many sights here. The artwork in Yu's Maple Garden is fantastic. Every item my wife and I ate was of the best possible taste. The salad dressing on my wife's salad made with a combo of soy sauce, Ranch dressing, and one other item was so, so good. The prices here are very reasonable, and they offer lunch specials! This was the worst Chinese food I've ever had and I've had some crappy chinese food. Barely any meat in the main dish, and even the fried rice was not good and thats hard to mess up unless you put lunch meat ham in fried rice... which they did.... tiny squares of cheap deli ham. Just plain crappy bland and nasty fake Chinese food. Apparently they don't want to have a successful restaurant. I will not return. read more

You guys. THEIR ORANGE CHICKEN THOUGH!!! It's one of my favorite dishes from any restaurant. Their sauce is sooo rich and savory and sweet. It's just perfect. Chicken is tender and juicy white meat and breaded perfectly. I also love their big egg rolls and their flavorful ham fried rice. This is seriously my favorite Chinese meal. I never dine in. Only carry out. The owner always helps me. She is always really stressed and can come off as terse, but she's actually a really nice lady just doing her best to run a popular restaurant. As mentioned in many other reviews waiter is extremely rude and quick to assume! Food was not good. We ordered some dishes that sounded good and got a lecture about what we were ordering and that we wouldn't be able to eat it all and we didn't know what we were ordering because of being inexperienced. After a very uncomfortable argument we finally ordered. Later on when asked a question about differences of culture the owner I'm assuming rudely responded stating that they were different countries and walked away. The poor other waitress seemed very uncomfortable and was very helpful unlike the other gal. Don't recommend unless you want to get yelled at and belittled :( read more

My wife and I went to Maple Garden for lunch. Friend had treated us. We got there got our seat. When our food came it was not warm. My wife took 2 bites I ate all mine as I was really hungry. The lady came by asked us how it was wife told her it was cold. She then grabbed my plate not even asking if I was done. I told her that was very rude of her. She proceeds to yell at us literally screaming at us. She then runs to the front and ask someone to call the police because she said I was refusing to pay which I never Saud that she comes back and says to never come back which we will not because her food is trash. I through my money at her and we left. This place needs to be shut down. Union Station needs to get her restaurant gone from there. DO NOT GO HERE FOOD IS TERRIBLE and the waitress/owner lu is psychotic. I hope she is reading this review. If she is I want to say to her Lu you are a terrible person, you can't cook. Your food is trash like your attitude. No wonder there was only 2 othe people there your restaurant will fail especially if I have anything to do with it. This is one our regular spots. The hot and sour soup is delicious. I recommend the ma po tofu dish. The location is historical with open blinds to see the rail yard. The proprietress is energetic and happy to help with recommendations. I also like the chicken chow mein (crispy noodles) and fried dumplings. They taste homemade. In fact, it was one of two Chinese restaurants my family would go to, and I grew up in Roy, where there was a Chinese restaurant on every corner so it's not like we didn't have options. Thrilled this restaurant has reopened in the historic Union Station. Currently in the "soft opening" mode, but Ogden is keeping them busy! Food has always been good and continues to be in my opinion. I found out that this place used to be open years ago and then shut down for awhile. A lot of the locals were sad about it because they loved it so much. If recently opened up again August of 2019 and has been received well. I took a leap and tried a dish everyone recommends and it definitely was good.
