I just realized I haven't reviewed Wing Wah! This is my go to Chinese restaurant in Ogden. We had our Christmas Eve dinner here, they're closed Christmas Day. I love to stop in and get hot and sour soup to go after a hike to warm up. I almost always order the combo plate that includes a spring roll, soup, shrimp tempura and a little side of sweet and sour chicken. We decided to try this place for Chinese food while we were in the Ogden area . It had good reviews . We ordered the Specialty variety combo dinners . This came with egg drop soup , tempura shrimp , cream cheese crab wonton, egg roll , ham fried rice , 4 sweet & sour chicken & what ever main entree item you choose . I chose the almond chicken . I didn't realize it was a sweet & sour sauce that was over the top of it . It's good but a heavy sweet sauce - the same sauce that is on the sweet & sour chicken . It doesn't have almonds on top of it there is something on top of it but not sure what it is . The chicken is super tender & good . The ham fried rice is really good also . The egg roll & shrimp are really good although they could be hotter temperature. The sweet & sour chicken is really good all white meat . I was not a fan of the soup . I love egg drop soup but this had a lot of chicken & noodles in it . It mostly tasted like chicken noodle soup . My husband got the chicken lo mein noodles they were very flavorful with broccoli, peppers & onions & celery . He loved the cream cheese crab wontons . Although there was very little crab in it . Now I see why Wing Wah was voted number one Chinese in Northern Utah. My wife has been trying to get me to come here for some time, She grew up in Ogden and came here all the time with her mom. This place has been in business for over 30 years. I'm glad we came because everything was really good. This is what we tried : The egg drop soup and sweet and sour soup was killer. The Pao Pao Tray, the presentation is great, it's basically a sample variety of all of the most popular appetizer dishes. If you want something sweet and spicy and garlicky try the general TSO's chicken! It was very flavorful. The Chicken and garlic sauce is cooked in garlic black bean sauce. Where the asparagus is flash fried it really locks in the Crunch! This was one of my favorite dishes. The Honey plum pork is bomb, it looks like sweet and sour pork. & it has a zingy taste. The glazed Honey walnut shrimp was also really yummy. I enjoyed the sweet, creamy sauce and big walnuts. The seafood sizzling platter is shrimp scallop calamari and crab mix with vegetables in a light garlic sauce, it came out sizzling . This was also a good choice. I was a bit disappointed! The service was wonderful! Loved the staff! They had a fun fish tanks too! Very chill vibes inside the restaurant. Unfortunately the food didn't match my expectations. I paid about $16 for the Lo Mein specialty dinner combo. There was only 4 pieces of meat, and the fried rice was a little bland. The one fried shrimp, egg roll and wanton followed suite for flavor (but were fried well). Also, no fortune cookie??? That was sad! Did enjoy the little lemon candies though. I normally don't ever have a problem with this restaurant. They are one of the few that provides gluten free options for my daughter. Tonight I had picked up my food as normal. Got home gave my kids there food only to find not one piece but several strands of black hair. Called the restaurant to report it, they had me text the manager a picture and all they had to say was sorry but we don't have anyone with that hair. The hottest and a server from whom I witnessed walking around had long black hair. Called the restaurant to actually speak with a manager and they said they dont believe me and hung up on me after i raised my voice. This was always my favorite Chinese restaurant growing up in Ogden. I recently moved back to Ogden after about 15 years away and Wing Wah was my first stop. It was still delicious!! Came in about 7:40 with my family on a Sunday night, I checked the time on google to make sure they were open and it said they were open until 9:30 we walk in and pretty much get told to leave because they close at 8. Fried rice tasted a little off this visit, but the hot & sour soup did not disappoint. It has to be the most robust hot & sour soup I've ever had. As for the chicken chow mein...I would have put the noodles on the side because if you don't eat fast, they are underneath and will become soggy. I'm not sure if the kitchen was short-staffed or if COVID had affected the way they run their business but takeout was a bit of a mess. We ordered General Tso's chicken and Pork Lo Mein with a three course combo (includes soup, egg roll, and crab cheese wonton). We were told the order would be ready in 20-25 minutes. My husband drove to the establishment within the 25 minutes and told him the order wasn't ready yet. He waited an additional 20 minutes for our order...which makes me wonder why they wouldn't tell us it would be a 40 minute wait? When my husband got home my hot and sour soup came in half-filled in a paper Gatorade cup and they forgot my egg roll and crab cheese wonton that I had paid extra for. The entrees were still good, but the service makes me question whether we will be returning customers or not. read more

Just don't do it. Their food was kinda tasty but for the price, it wasn't worth it. I thought I was getting white, regular take out boxes full of food but we got black portion-sized containers. It was $75 for food that looked like $40 worth. I could get the same quality or better AND more quantity elsewhere for less. I also had the worse restaurant/customer service experience in my life. No exaggeration. I had to call because they forgot my fried rice and I had to argue with the guy on the phone about missing it. He kept saying that he made sure to put it in there. I'm staring at all of my opened containers and empty bag with no fried rice. He just kept saying he put it in there and that it was in a white container. I told him I'm looking at all of my open containers and empty bags and I don't see it. He kept saying it's in there. I had to keep telling him it's not. He finally offered me to come pick some up or a credit for next time but I asked if I could just get a refund for the rice. He went to go ask his boss if that was possible and came back on the phone to say that I have the rice. I hardly lose my temper but I was so frustrated, I lost it. I don't understand why I have to argue about my missing fried rice. I just wanted to go pick it up or get a refund and I have to sit here and listen to him tell me it's in my bag numerous times when I'm looking at my bag. He seemed like a nice guy but I don't understand why he had to keep insisting it's in my bag when I'm looking straight at my bag and food. THEN I ask to talk to his manager and she tried to keep telling me that the rice is in my bag. Like really? I told her that it wasn't and she insisted again that it was in there again. I told her it wasn't and that I don't understand why I have to argue about something as simple as not getting my fried rice. She asked me if I was done. I know I was raising my voice so I get why she was being rude but why would you want to instigate an angry person. She tells me I was arguing with myself and she was trying to clarify. I really shouldn't have to say that I don't have my fried rice 10 times, even if it was with a different person. I got frustrated and lost it. I am willing to admit that I started to cuss. So she hung up on me. Makes sense and don't blame her for that. But if I were her, it would've been a simple as saying "I'm sorry that you don't have your fried rice. We really thought we packed it in there. What solution would you like?" Rather than still try to tell me that the fried rice is in my bag that I emptied. And then to be rude. I've dealt with angry people and I STILL don't act rude when it's a customer. Why would you instigate and ask if I'm done? Why would you go on the phone with an angry person arguing about not having their fried rice and still insist it's in there? I just didn't understand why I was even in this situation. Sorry but I've NEVER, and again, I'm not exaggerating, when I say I've never had a problem with service anywhere in that type of capacity. I'm usually a patient person and I have never raised my voice or have been rude to wait staff. I know, how can you take someone's word after they just went ballistic on the phone? Because I'm willing to admit that I did because it was out of character for me. But then again, I've also never had to argue about something so minimal. Never felt like a Karen until now. I'll never come back because of this. I did receive a text later to say I would get a credit back for the missing rice and that my rude behavior of swearing at the two staff members wouldn't be tolerated. The words "will not be tolerated" threw me off. Am I in elementary school? And then proceeded to say mistakes happen. Terrible customer service shouldn't be tolerated and the mistake was arguing with a customer about whether their fried rice was missing. Dumbest and most frustrating interaction I've ever experienced. UPDATE: They responded to my Facebook review and tried to gaslight me to cover up for their mistakes. Szechuan chicken, rice, soup, and an egg roll. $9.99 which seems about average. Had the hot and sour soup. It was very flavorful. Could've had a little more of the sour, still good though. The egg roll was mediocre. Rice is always hit or miss. I'm always amazed when a Chinese restaurant screws up rice. Undercooked or whatever. This place delivered. The Szechuan chicken was incredibly flavorful with a great kick to it. It also just felt really fresh like they breaded fresh cut pieces and fried them up. I saved the best for last though. The real star of the meal was their homemade chili oil. I asked for some sauce of some sort. The girl said they're just finishing making up a batch of this in the kitchen. Generally when someone tells me something is "really hot", there's much left to be desired. This was not the case. A little of this oil goes a long way. But it added a great kick/flavorful addition, and will to any dish there if that's you're thing. Give Wing Wah a try. I know I'll be back at some point sooner rather than later. read more

The worst Chinese food I have ever had. We ordered asparagus beef and it was not edible. No flavor at all, the sauce was like tasteless gravy. The beef was chewy, tasteless, and undercooked. We also got general Tso chicken. Pieces of chewy chicken just tossed in some pre-made sauce and dumped on the plate. We just weren't able to eat it. But the potstickers appetizer was good. Great presentation of food and the little extra touches make it more special. For example, the Chinese combo plate has a little dish of sweet and sour chicken and is served on a square black plate that visually highlights the variety of food options.
