This restaurant is close to home, but not our regular go-to, since they only do take out. I prefer to eat at the restaurant, so it took me a while to get over here to check out China Chef's. But recently, I wanted to stay in my jammies and take away food was just what I needed for such an occasion. You can place an order online, then go to the drive through to pick it up. There's a handwritten sign on the door that tells you to call a number when you arrive to pick up your order. When I did that, they told me to go to the window to pick it up. I'm not sure if you could go to the drive through window to order directly, but I bet they could accommodate that. When we got home, the food was piping hot and every last item was covered in plastic wrap. This helped not to spill and to keep the food hot, but it sure made the eco-friendly side of me shudder. The food was really good. My wife says that this may become our new go-to for Chinese and my son happily scarfed his down, leaving enough for the next day's lunch leftovers.

Food was very dry and chewy. Teriyaki sauce was very salty and everything seemed to lack favor. Egg drop soup was decent. Service was amazing just food isn't matching the service. Sauce was good on the sweet and sour pork. The wonton cream cheese was good. The egg roll was barely warm.

It's been a few years since I've been here and I forgot how good it is here! I've been back twice now in the last few weeks, the food is so good. I've ordered the pon pon chicken, general tso chicken, Mongolian style beef, cream cheese wontons, and the lo mein with soft noodles and all are delicious! I ordered over the phone and picked up my orders both times. They have you go through drive thru to pick up your order. I was a little hesitant once I pulled up and saw 3 cars in front of me but surprisingly the line went pretty quickly and I had my food in about 10 min. You get a lot for what you pay for, my orders have been accurate, fresh and hot both times. I am hooked! If you're looking for quick and delicious Chinese food definitely come here for it!

Very disappointed. Our order was incorrect and the food that we did get was absolutely disgusting. Interesting, uncomfortable, and weird restaurant. Very little human interaction. The website was also very vague and confusing. Not a great experience and will not be going back ever again in my life.

The lemon sauce? Do I need to cook them together?
    Virginia V.

I don't know what's happened to the China Chef. It used to be my favorite Chinese food and I came here often. But recently when I get sweet-and-sour pork or orange chicken or lemon chicken I get dried battered chicken and then a little cup of what looks like the sauce you dip your wontons in. No flavor just sweet syrup. I tried for lemon chicken See my pictures. All the other picture from 9 years ago show the chicken cooked in the sauce and looking delish.

For starters, we ordered the Wor Wonton Soup. The broth was rich and hearty. The shrimps were large and plentiful. All the vegetables blended in with the flavors. I just wish the beef was a little more tender. A little marinade in baking soda would fix this. We ordered some chicken lettuce wraps. This has minced chicken, celery, bamboo shoots, and carrots. These are good by themselves but are best with hoisin sauce. I just wish the lettuce leaves were bigger. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was also good. The sauce had a nice blend of mayo, honey and lemon. It had a little too much breading for me but still tasted good. For $16.99, I wished there was a bit more shrimp. One thing I really appreciate - they GLAZE the walnuts! This is one of the few places that I actually like the sauce and they glaze the walnuts! The Crispy Beef is definitely my favorite. In fact, I think this is better than the one I get from Red Maple. It was not too sweet and had just the right amount of heat. Again, I really wish they would marinate the beef in baking soda to soften it up. The last dish we ordered was the Garlic Chicken. The server forgot to put the order in for this dish and there was a rush to get it out to us. They forgot to put garlic in this dish so wee sent it back. It was perfect when it came back. This place is fast becoming our go-to-place for Chinese Food. It's was a nice surprise and I'll can't wait to try the other dishes!

It was close and the pictures looked like just what I wanted. We learned though don't leave your house at 5:30 pm ever. It took as an hour to go 5.3 miles. The traffic was extra horrible in all directions. When we finally arrived we were both really hungry. We ordered the Family Special B. We both chose our own entree and we picked Walnut Shrimp and Mongolian Beef. It comes with four fried shrimp and 4 cheese wontons, fried rice and of course the mandatory fortune cookie. The inside looks cute and cozy. Buddha greets you and he's happy because he was dripping in dollars. They were really busy and people kept pouring in so I didn't get to ask why he had all those bills. The food was delicious. It came with Hot and Sour Soup which was hot in temperature and in spiciness. The shrimp was fresh and melted in your mouth. The Mongolian Beef is drenched in onions, celery and peppers and had some heat too. They were kind and we will be back. That way I can get to the bottom of the Buddha.

The shrimps were big and there were 8 pieces which was generous. The dinner combo was missing the egg drop soup I selected for my order and the ham fried rice was hard (-1 star for this). However, the sides egg roll, cream cheese ragoon, and pan fried chicken were a plus to the dinner combo. The wonton soup I ordered separately was amazing and I could eat it in two meals since it was one big size. The price was pretty good for the amount of food and quality.

Our longtime favorite -- worth the drive every time!…read more We've been going to Joy Luck for several years now, and truly, it never disappoints. It's hands-down the best Chinese food in the area. We happily make the trek out to Sandy just for this place, and whenever we have a show at Hale Centre Theatre, Joy Luck is our pre-show tradition. This visit was no different: no wait, quick seating, and incredibly fast service -- which is a lifesaver when you're trying not to be late for curtain time. We started with the deep-fried cream cheese wontons, perfectly crisp with a delicious sweet-and-sour dipping sauce. (Confession: I sometimes pour a little of that sauce over my rice instead of soy -- it adds the best hint of sweetness!) We each got soup as well: hot & sour for my partner and egg drop for me. Their egg drop soup is the best I've ever had. Sometimes I crave it and stop by just for a bowl. For mains, we ordered the black pepper steak and the cantonese noodles with chicken. As expected, everything was flavorful, saucy, and served in generous portions. You absolutely get your money's worth here. One thing I love is their huge menu -- so many options, and everything we've tried over the years has been great. I'm also a big fan of their combination dinners where you get an entrée, soup, rice, eggroll, and fried shimp. Perfect if you want your own complete plate, but also easy to mix, match, and share if you're going family-style. Joy Luck has been consistently wonderful for years: friendly staff, fast service, big portions, and truly delicious food. We'll keep coming back -- pre-show or not!

Had the salt pepper shrimp - it was decorated very nicely! I do wish the shrimp was head-on because that's traditional, but it was still tasty.
