I I have driven past this place many times and wondered if it was good so today I took my parents at about 11:30 AM. The place was very neat and had a good atmosphere. Look, there is something to be said about crappy American Chinese food, and this is some decent American Chinese. The Pan Fried noodles are a little greasy, but yummy crunchy, and the veggie's are good that accompany. The restaurant was really dirty. The food was not good. It was overpriced. The phone customer service is bad. I would recommend you go somewhere else. I had the teriyaki chicken and it had some terrible breading that flaked off with flavorless sauce. One word: Bleh. We went here with a party of 15 so we shared a lot of dishes. The flavors were almost indistinguishable from dish to dish. Most of the dishes contained deep fried protein of some sort, and limp vegetables. The walnut shrimp was pretty tasty though, but I wouldn't hurry back for it. As we were moving from Lehi, UT area to Herriman, UT area we stopped to eat at China Chefs. All 3 of us ordered something different and each one of the sauces had a different flavor to them! They give you a TON of food, so don't look at the price as being too high because chances are you'll have enough left over for your next meal too; we certainly did! First, when you order an entree "Yu Hsiang Scallops and beef" you would expect close to as many pieces of scallops as beef, well not here. I got 6 1/2 small scallops, they really need to rename this dish. And, if you want Chinese mustard the last thing you would expect to pull out of the bag is French's mustard! Are you kidding me? The venue was clean and quiet, parking was ample, and there was very little wait to get us seated. The menu was easy to navigate, we opted for 2 dinner specials. Service was phenomenal. I'm pretty snobby about the food I eat and enjoy. That being said this place is a triumph in my world! It can be a bit pricey if you're strictly looking at sticker price. $32 for the family combo seems steep but when you have food for days then you realize the immense value of this spot. Food is excellent, service isn't always great and I'm not sure why, they should be proud of the product they serve. Anything on the menu is excellent but I gravitate to the general tsao chicken simply because of how well they do it. I've had quite a few items off the menu and so far that is my favorite. The Mongolian is also very good. Ham fried chicken is incredible and their soups are perfect. The egg rolls are your standard issue egg roll as well as the Rangoons but the rest of their apps are unbelievable! If you have been holding out on trying this spot then you simply must get up right now and either go in, call for delivery, or use their amazing website to order for delivery. We love the food and have historically ordered regularly, but tonight we were told 10 minutes for our order and had to wait nearly 30 minutes for our food. I was made to pay immediately upon arriving to pick it up, but the food wasn't ready for another 15+ minutes. There was no apology, no attempt to make it right, not even any communication for the 15 minutes I waited for an order I had placed well ahead of time. We have forgiven mistakes in the past, such as accidental meat in a vegetarian dish or telling us that we called and changed our dish from tofu to shrimp when we most certainly had not. I am sorely disappointed that a regular customer is of such little value to this restaurant. Americanized Chinese food worth eating! Its surprising, but i was extremely happy with this restaurant. My wife enjoys Americanized Chinese food but i typically find it bland and homogeneous. China Chef however, offers Chinese food that, while it is not full of "scary" and "exotic" ingredients like traditional Chinese food, is delicious and has an Asian feel. The sauces have distinct flavor and they are not afraid to utilize tastes other than meat and salt. I would definitely recommend this place and hope it is a sign that American Chinese food is taking a turn for the better. read more
