The waitress was really friendly and the food was OK. It seemed like some of the recipes have been changed since we went there before and not for the better. My kids and I got takeout here today. The hostess was super friendly. She was patient while we decided what to get and she made conversation with my kids. I liked that she brought the food out in a cardboard box so none of it would spill while I drove. I also liked that all the sauces were on the side so the breaded meat stayed crispy! I got an egg roll and loved it. The sweet and sour pork was pretty good. The orange chicken sauce was intensely orangey... maybe artificially flavored? And the chow mein was fine. My kids loved everything and raved about it the whole meal. The 3 item lunch combo was more than enough food for me and my 9 and 5 year old kids could have easily split one! read more

I've been going here for well over 20 years. Not every day of course. But when I was in construction we ate here often. I introduced Golden Tree to my wife. Around 2004, we both love it for a long time, that is until recently. You can tell that there was a shake up and something big, happened. Things changed from then on till now. I can tell you for sure that their egg drop soup was to die for. And their lunch special was perficte for people like me and my wife. All of that has changed for sure. The last time i was there, the soup was off. Like my cup of soup tasted like somebody burnt it, like they left the oil in the pan to long. Then the noodles from the chicken Chow Main just sucked (I almost sent it back) and the noodles seem to have a smaller diameter than the ones they previously used. A friend of mine suggested this place for lunch, she heard it was good from friends. I could pretty much always eat Chinese so we went! Upon first look it doesn't look like much, and once I went in it was definitely dated. I was a little hesitant but decided to go for it! I'm glad we did! They have some great lunch options and deals. They have a three item lunch option that seemed pretty popular with everyone else there. But what's better than leftover Chinese?! So I went full entrees and even an appetizer, all so I could have leftovers. First off, the Potstickers. Honestly, I'll be craving those everyday until I have them again. Perfectly pan fried, a slight crisp, but still some spots of just steamed dough. The inside meat was deliciously flavored but simple. And really the side of dipping sauce completes the whole dish. Next time I'm getting my own order! Lol. I also ordered the Chicken Chow Mein and Mongolian Beef. I usually don't get Chow Mein because I think it can be a little underwhelming, but this was simple and possibly the best Chow Mein I've ever had. The noodles and chicken were tender, the veggies were cooked but still crisp, and the sauce was mild but complimented all the ingredients really well. I ate about of it for lunch, and promptly ate the other for dinner because I was craving the rest of it. Lol. The Mongolian Beef was tender and well seasoned with lots of green and red bell peppers and onions. Personally, I strongly dislike bell peppers so I just picked out the meat and onions. But I still really enjoyed it. My friend ordered the Pork Fried Rice, which had really good flavor as well. Also, our server was so attentive (borderline a little too attentive) and kind. Stopped in Saturday for lunch. This place "use" to be very good but the quality of the food has really fallen off. We ordered the same dinner we've been getting for years but it just didn't taste right. The service was great but I haven't felt well now for two days since eating there. It's awful now. They use chicken noodle soup instead of egg drop like they use to. You will find 5 different colors of ham in your ham fried rice which is a clear indication that not all of it is fresh. Everything tastes like food that's been sitting under a heat lamp all day. Tonight we traveled to the lovely city of Riverton to try the Golden Tree Café. The restaurant seemed full, almost every table occupied. The seating area could be a bit more clean, but it wasn't bad enough that we wanted to leave. There were cardboard boxes randomly stacked in various places and coat rack that seemed out of place. We did not check out the restrooms. The prices were pretty fair. We ordered their four item combination for two people that included several options to choose from. We went with Chicken Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Ham Fried Rice and Egg Rolls. It came with Egg Drop Soup and we also ordered Cream Cheese Wontons for an appetizer. Our total bill came to $25. I was disappointed that they did not have General Tso's on the menu. The soup was tasty but it was served a little lukewarm. I prefer it a little hotter. The wontons were really good; they were quite large. The menu says they come in eight pieces, but we only got seven, so my wife and I about got into a fist fight for the last piece. I hurried and licked it. The fried rice was just okay, it didn't 'wow' us. The Chow Mein was really good; I would definitely order it again. It had a lot of bean sprouts in it and it kind of reminded me of the LaChoy canned Chow Mein that you get in the Asian isle of the grocery store. I used to love that stuff; though it seems disgusting now. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was the best thing on the table. Rather than the typical small cubes of chicken, breaded and fried, they lightly bread the whole chicken breast and then slice it in strips after it has cooked, and then they add the sauce. The chicken was very moist and the sauce was delicious. The egg rolls were good, but a bit weird. They had little slices of ham in them. They tasted okay, just different from what I was expecting. All in all, this place was good. We would eat here again. Service was fast and water refills were frequent. read more

Growing up in a "small" town, everyone has their go to Chinese restaurant. For me that is golden tree. They never disappoint, from the fried rice, to sweet and sour pork, egg foo young, and chow mein it all is great. It's generally pretty quiet here, but old residents of Riverton seem to come in droves for take out. I highly recommend this place. Even living in midvale, I'm willing to drive the extra distance to get better Chinese than I can find near my home. read more

We ordered a few pretty typical Chimerican choices - Kung Po Chicken, Ham Fried Rice, Lemon Chicken, and Pork Chow Mein. More than half of the liquid contents had leaked out of the containers before we even got it home, which soaked the paper bag container, what a mess... The remaining half was still mostly sauce, extraordinarily greasy, tasteless, and completely inedible. It even looked nasty. The 4 bites I took left a big lump in my stomach that I would rather have gouged out with a pitchfork than ever go back here. P.S. the counter service was mildly friendly. I'm usually not one to complain about food I eat because I like just about everything but this place was really pushing my desire to continue eating... It tasted like they opened a bag of recycled Panda Express Chinese food, heated it up, and served it out to their customers. The waitresses were fine, definitely tried to be personable but I couldn't seem to see any real desire to be serving us, as well as giving us take out boxes within ten minutes of getting our food as if to want us to not linger in the restaurant. This little mom and pop has been in town for over 20 years. You get what you pay for in this restaurant. The Chinese food is average, much American influence, the American fare is the staple of their business. Lunch and dinner specials of breaded veal, steaks, fried chicken,fish and chips, halibut etc. The restaurant is a favorite of construction workers, the greatest generation, and young families. For two adults and two children your bill is under 35 bucks. If you are expecting more then lunch fare on a budget go to Asian Star. We drive from Lehi to get Chinese takeout from here because we like the food better than places near us. Their paper wrapped chicken is the best we've had. Only saving grace of this restaurant was our adorable server who checked on us every couple of minutes to refill our drinks and made sure everything came out ina timely manner.
