Our longtime favorite -- worth the drive every time! We've been going to Joy Luck for several years now, and truly, it never disappoints. It's hands-down the best Chinese food in the area. We happily make the trek out to Sandy just for this place, and whenever we have a show at Hale Centre Theatre, Joy Luck is our pre-show tradition. This visit was no different: no wait, quick seating, and incredibly fast service -- which is a lifesaver when you're trying not to be late for curtain time. We started with the deep-fried cream cheese wontons, perfectly crisp with a delicious sweet-and-sour dipping sauce. (Confession: I sometimes pour a little of that sauce over my rice instead of soy -- it adds the best hint of sweetness!) We each got soup as well: hot & sour for my partner and egg drop for me. Their egg drop soup is the best I've ever had. Sometimes I crave it and stop by just for a bowl. For mains, we ordered the black pepper steak and the cantonese noodles with chicken. As expected, everything was flavorful, saucy, and served in generous portions. You absolutely get your money's worth here. One thing I love is their huge menu -- so many options, and everything we've tried over the years has been great. I'm also a big fan of their combination dinners where you get an entrée, soup, rice, eggroll, and fried shimp. Perfect if you want your own complete plate, but also easy to mix, match, and share if you're going family-style. Joy Luck has been consistently wonderful for years: friendly staff, fast service, big portions, and truly delicious food. We'll keep coming back -- pre-show or not!

Great American Chinese food! Food is fresh. Service is great (but beware, if you have a gluten allergy, make sure you get a server who is familiar with what dishes are and aren't truly gluten free). Ambience is lovely. We love the gluten free sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and veggie rice noodles! The portions are huge, so you have plenty to take home with you!

If I'm being honest, when I initially walked in I was ready to be disappointed, BUT the food was delicious! My uncle from out of town wanted asian food, so we decided to come here. The restaurant is huge and beautifully decorated, and the staff are so friendly. I do want to say that the food doesn't taste like authentic chinese food, but the food itself was very delicious. I loved that there was a good variety and the combos come in a pretty generous portion. It even comes with a soup or salad! Overall we had a wonderful experience and enjoyed our meal :)

Service was very quick and attentive. Food came out very quickly and the portions were definitely for sharing. The flavor is incredibly good! It was absolutely amazing and on top of that 80% of the menus was gluten free. So we were in heaven! It wasn't too loud and we were able to have a nice, quiet dinner. High recommend!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place. This is the third or fourth time I've eaten here. We ordered moo goo gai pan, lemon chicken, and ham fried rice. The Moo goo gai pan was excellent. The gravy has a nice garlic flavor and would've made a great sauce for chow Mein. The lemon chicken was too sour and needed more sweetness. The chicken was also over cooked and was hard to chew. The fried rice had nice chunks of ham and was seasoned just right. No MSG. We also ordered a side of chow Mein. It tasted like noodles and soy sauce. Don't order this. Overall, not bad. Definitely not authentic. But that's what I was going for tonight. I didn't want to go to Panda

Ordered take out. Called it in when I was leaving the South Town Mall. Ordered beef and broccoli combo for my wife and ma po tofu combo for me. He wasn't accurate when the gentleman on the phone told me it would be 15 minutes or so. I drove there, it is literally a 3 minute drive. Parked the car, went in, paid for my order, was told it would be a few minutes. One minute later, out came my order. This was blazing fast! Blazing fast. Five minutes. This is my first time here. This is a large restaurant. It was Friday night and the parking lot and place was packed. The place looks somewhat classy. Now the food. First of all, the portions are quite generous. I've had two meals already and I still have enough for another one plus. My wife said the beef wasn't cut thinly like most places, but was good as was the broccoli. So was her egg drop soup. My ma po tofu was excellent. The flavor was perfect. The heat was just right, enough of a kick to make my nose run a bit, but not too much that I was burning. Nice cubes of silken tofu, quarter cuts of black mushrooms, tender slices of pork, thin slices of green peppers...and shrimp! Never had shrimp in ma po tofu before. This was excellent. I highly recommend upgrading your entreé to the combo dinner. You get a choice of soup or salad, an egg roll, fried rice with ham, and a large deep fried butterflied shrimp for only $3.75. Definitely worth it. My hot and sour soup was excellent. The shrimp was excellent. Although the egg roll pales compared to my mom's :) it still had some meat in it and was nice and crispy. I was beginning to give up finding a decent Chinese restaurant since moving here. I now have hope. And it is only 5 minutes from my house. Bonus. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

.Seated right away. Good customer service. Ordered pot stickers, they were crispy and hot when served. Orange chicken had a good orange flavor, light breading. Chicken lomein was tender noodles, tender chicken. Veru good first visit.

I'm always on the hunt for new places to eat that are better than the previous. This was my purpose for coming here. My buddy has dinner here regularly so ai picked up a ton of good order with my typical beef fried rice, Szechwan beef and pot stickers. I found the food good but not better than any of the places I order from nearer to my home. Perhaps I need to dine in to see if I'm missing something by taking out. The Host was very pleasant, the food was delivered very quickly and the men's bathroom was very clean. I like the Joy Luck Club and I think you will too.

Are there any low carb options? I'm hoping to get veggies and meat, but it looks like everything is covered in sauce (which is most likely full of sugar). Any suggestions?…

For starters, we ordered the Wor Wonton Soup. The broth was rich and hearty. The shrimps were large and plentiful. All the vegetables blended in with the flavors. I just wish the beef was a little more tender. A little marinade in baking soda would fix this. We ordered some chicken lettuce wraps. This has minced chicken, celery, bamboo shoots, and carrots. These are good by themselves but are best with hoisin sauce. I just wish the lettuce leaves were bigger. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was also good. The sauce had a nice blend of mayo, honey and lemon. It had a little too much breading for me but still tasted good. For $16.99, I wished there was a bit more shrimp. One thing I really appreciate - they GLAZE the walnuts! This is one of the few places that I actually like the sauce and they glaze the walnuts! The Crispy Beef is definitely my favorite. In fact, I think this is better than the one I get from Red Maple. It was not too sweet and had just the right amount of heat. Again, I really wish they would marinate the beef in baking soda to soften it up. The last dish we ordered was the Garlic Chicken. The server forgot to put the order in for this dish and there was a rush to get it out to us. They forgot to put garlic in this dish so wee sent it back. It was perfect when it came back. This place is fast becoming our go-to-place for Chinese Food. It's was a nice surprise and I'll can't wait to try the other dishes!

The look of the restaurant inside has changed a few times. when I was there last there was a casual seating area at the back of the restaurant. There were people there waiting for takeout orders. I really enjoyed the great chow mein with the beef. Next time I might try it with chicken or pork because the beef was a little hard to chew for my liking. The noodles tasted delicious and flavorful. I always have to order the cold cucumber salad. It is a great accompaniment to any dish. I added the peanuts to the cucumbers because I really like them together so if you order the cucumbers, they will not come with peanuts. It is a strange request, but they accommodated me with no problem. They had a case at the front of the restaurant with grapes and strawberries, skewered and coated in a crunchy sugary coating. It was a little bit messy, but I did not mind because it tasted so good. The strawberries were super sweet, fresh and juicy with a thin, sweet crunchy shell. I will try the grapes next time.
