I feel like there are more formal restaurant reviews that, rightly, focus on the food, offerings, the food quality, the consistency, the ambience, the service. Right? And then there are restaurants like rice king Express that operate in a local strip mall next to a big gym and don't meet a lot of the traditional criteria, but are nonetheless great restaurants to keep in your rotation. Rice King Express is a perfect example. Very friendly people. Invested in the community for decades. Good food. Good consistency. Lots of options. Very speedy, very kind and courteous owners and staff (family?). I love coming here when I can to support this business and to grab a quick meal. It's light years better than fast food but at the same speed. Their Kung pow chicken is my favorite, but they're sweet-and-sour, their noodle dishes, their eggrolls, beef, and broccoli, etc., are all excellent as well. We love rice king. They moved locations, but have the same delicious food! The specials include plenty of food for the price! My favorite is the fried rice and also the egg roll. This restaurant has been our to-go place for years. They always have high standards for their food. The food is always hot and delicious whenever we order--a reasonable price for a decent portion. We really enjoy their Lo Mein and Orange Chicken. Lo Mein is very flavorful, and Orange Chicken is crispy and juicy. Owners are amiable and always go above and beyond to accommodate our requests. We ordered schezuan chicken spicy and orange chicken, we received 2 orange chickens. We called the place and a lady answered and told us we were mistaken as the order was correctly delivered. I've been looking for a Chinese place that would scratch my itch more than a chain, so I decided to give Rice King Express a shot. We went in for an early dinner on a Saturday night so it was empty when we got there, with only a few other customers coming in after us. I noticed the table we chose to sit hadn't been cleaned very well but they had a huge menu of meats, noodles, and soups so my friend and I were both able to find something we liked. The service was great! Our waiter did a great job taking our orders and checked in with us throughout the meal. I think my only complaint is that the food just wasn't that great. I wasn't very impressed with my sesame chicken and it was pretty flavorless. The cashier/server greeted me as soon as I entered the place. She was helpful and attentive. I ordered the BBQ pork with vegetables. Sadly, I didn't like it. The fried rice didn't have much veggies or ham. The pork side was mostly 80% veggies and 20% meat. I was expecting the meat side to be a little sweet but it was very salty. The French Fries were very salty as well. In general, the food portion was very generous and the price was low. I didn't like that someone from the kitchen opened the back door and smoked a cigarette getting the smell all over the dining area. I didn't like that my daughter was getting second hand smoke. We have only been once, but since our experiences so far here in Utah haven't been the best with Chinese food, it was good enough to come review after only one try. We ordered the chicken lo mein, beef lo mein, egg rolls, potstickers, orange chicken, sweet and sour pork, and general tso's chicken. The egg rolls, potstickers, and both the chicken and the beef lo meins were the absolute best we have tried so far here, and that's saying something. This is our 6th Chinese food place we have tried and only the second place to give us food we liked. We are so thrilled to have found this, we will absolutely be back. The orange chicken, general tso's chicken and sweet and sour pork were okay, but I wouldn't necessarily order them again. I would however, experiment more with other dishes I don't normally order. The service was okay. We ordered our food to go online and we didn't receive our full order so we had to go back and pick up what was missing. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. Overall, definitely give this place a try, especially if you like noodle dishes and egg rolls/potstickers. I'm already craving them again. read more

I think this is my second bad review but this visit should not happen to anyone. I ordered a meal with a drink. I got the receipt right away. My meal came in to-go boxes and a cheap flimsy fork. I stated I was eating in and I was told they don't have plates. I then asked for my drink and I was told they didn't have it (Diet Coke/Pepsi) so I asked what they had so I got a can sprite. I was told they needed to add the sprite to my receipt; no problem. When I was leaving I asked for the receipt with the soda on it that was charged to my card. I had to speak really loud to get one of the three people, I could see in the back, to acknowledge me! They wanted me to put it down the soda as a $1.50 tip. I stated I need a receipt that was billed to my card and she said the sprite was already billed. I'm not sure if the are selling sodas under the table or what but it seemed really shady! She did give me a receipt with the soda as a tip and now the soda cost $1.41? I was told it was $1.50? When I left the lady walked back to the cooking area and started yelling in Chinese which I think is safe to say she was mad at me. Also, there is no paper towels in the bathroom to dry your hands and I only got 2 really thin papers napkins. See picture; I ate my meal out of the top of the to-go container. We are pretty particular about our Chinese food as some places are greasy and short meat and just plain dirty. We have been ordering from here for years. 5 yrs ago they would have gotten a 3 but the last few years are definitely worth 5 stars. They deliver which is also super convenient and fast usually 30-40 minutes and it is Hot and the veg's are fresh. The Egg Drop and Hot & Sour Soup's are awesome (haven't tried the others). Actually the H&S soup is the best we have ever had. They add vegetables to it and it is great! We usually order 1 or 2 large ones of each so we can have them for lunches. The Orange Chicken is Awesome, Sweet & Sour, Fried Rice of any kind are great, Chow Mein, Lo Mein & Egg Foo Young can't be beat. I could go on and on but we have never had anything there that we did not like. The portions are big too. The to go containers are stuffed full. They couldn't even fit another bean sprouts if they had too. The only negative we can think of is the prices on their website have NOT been updated.
