Update: After some additional communication over email, I got a call from Benjamin with an update. He explained there had been a system bug that caused the delay in the report (which is normally sent immediately after inspection). He apologized, sent the official inspection report via email, and issued a full refund. While this came too late for me to use, I appreciated that the company made things right and honored their hassle-free refund policy. For that reason, I've bumped my review from 1 star to 3 stars. Original review: Disappointed with my experience. I scheduled a chimney inspection with this company because my HOA required it for insurance purposes. The inspector, Danny, arrived late to the appointment window (10AM-12PM), only calling at 12:30 to say he was 15 minutes away. While he was friendly, the inspection itself took less than 10 minutes. It consisted of a quick look inside the chimney and then on the roof. He explained a major issue with the chase cover, gave me a verbal price estimate, and assured me I'd receive a written report with photos "within an hour." Instead, what I received about 30 minutes later was only a repair estimate. There were no photos, no inspection details, nothing I could submit to my HOA. When I followed up by phone and email, I was told "we'll look into it," but weeks later I still haven't received a report. The payment process also felt unprofessional. I was asked to enter my credit card into the inspector's cell phone, which did not feel secure. In the end, I paid for an inspection but only got a repair estimate. My HOA still required another company to perform their own inspection, so I had to pay twice. If you need an inspection report for insurance or HOA requirements, I would not recommend this company. read more

I called the number listed on Google and addressed it. They said it was never booked and rescheduled with me. No show. They have differing phone numbers, depending on where you look. Chimcare came to inspect and clean my chimney (which hadn't been cleaned in 20 years). The Inspector communicated well and told me I needed new chimney flashing, which seemed plausible. Their prices seemed excessive (~$5K for the whole thing) but I just wanted to get it done. They did the flashing work one day, and I was startled the next morning by people pounding on my roof: seems they hadn't finished and forgot to tell me they were coming back the next day. No big deal. The reason I only gave it 1 star is that they didn't re-shingle around the flashing correctly. First, they used an obviously different color shingle. But their shingles also bunched up, forming a big ridge. When I called to explain this, they made an appointment for their inspector to come out on a Friday between 10 am and noon. At 9:55 am that Friday I called to confirm the appointment and the woman who answered the phone confirmed it. At 11:55 am I call again and she says, "They didn't get in touch?" and says she'll contact them. When they still don't show, I call a third time and this time she tells me they're not coming that day since they're not in the area. Unprofessional. She says they'll come on Monday. But they don't come on Monday. Instead they unexpectedly arrive on Thursday with no prior communication. I point out the bunching issue to the inspector and he readily acknowledges but says, with doubt in his voice, that he doesn't think it will leak (which is maybe true but not the point). He says they can redo it, but he's not sure they can do better since they're not roofers and my roof is steep. Overall, he seems doubtful of their ability to do a better job. So I tell him in that case I don't want them to try to fix it. Instead they can refund me the several hundred dollars (it ended up being $400) that I needed to pay a roofer to redo it. He took photos and said he'd communicate this with his manager. I never heard from them again. read more

We paid for a chimney repair and cleaning. The repair job was fine, but the guy threw down all the old metal flashing pieces for us to step on. The "deep" clean cost $600 and took less than 10 minutes. That's pretty expensive for work my husband can do better. When we stuck our own brush in the chimney, black dust rained down. So was definitely not a deep clean. Will not use them again. read more

They promised me a chimney sweep for $299 plus $69 inspection. The bill ended up being $1700 for just a cleaning of my two chimneys. That's over $1000/hour, not bad work if you can get it. HORRIBLE COMPANY, horrible experience! Stay away from this company! Please read my story below to understand the level of service you should expect from Chimcare. You do not want to be stuck in my position. After paying our downpayment for repairs on our chimney (replacing an old chimney cap, chimney saver, and crown coat), Chimcare was prompt to take half of the final charge for the service. They told us they would schedule our service within 7 days. THEY NEVER SCHEDULED OUR SERVICE! We tried calling the company to get the service scheduled -- more than 10 times. The calls always went to voicemail. NO ONE PICKED UP! Two weeks later, we received an email out of the blue that a technician was on their way to complete the service. Of course we were not home. The above isn't even the worst part. The technician showed up without the chimney cap for replacement, so we told he he should probably get that part before repairing the chimney. He came back a week later to service the chimney and after I came out I pointed out that he didn't replace the rusted chimney cap plate. He tried to convince me that the rusted chimney cap plate was fine. I insisted he do the job right. He then confessed that the part he had was the wrong size and that he needed to order a new one. After all this, he came back again, but he brought what looked like a bent piece of sheet metal as the chimney cap replacement. Chimcare customer service agreed that this looked "disgusting". We finally had chimcare out for the FOURTH time to get this thing right. And the chimney cap they ended up installing wasn't even the right size in the end (see pic). And after all this, we still can't get in touch with their billing department because they invoiced us for the incorrect amount. AND, after emailing them to correct the amount with no response, they CHARGED OUR CREDIT CARD WITHOUT SIGNED CONSENT. Do yourself a favor, avoid this company. I broke the pilot control knob on our heat n glow gas fireplace. C&M Heating referred me to Chimcare. They did a great job with a thorough service, though will have to followup finding the broken part, but left us with a working fireplace, which is the primary heat source in our small house. Do not use Chimcare. I had Chimcare out to fix my gas fireplace. The man who came out said I needed a new valve and the cost was $2,000. I put down a deposit of $660. Another man came out the next day and put in the new valve with a remote control and I paid the balance of the $2,000. Bottom line the gas fireplace does not work and Chimcare will do nothing. The remote does not turn the fireplace on. To top it off they broke one of the fireplace logs. I called and set up an appointment for the following week, March 27 between 10 and 12. No one showed up. I called and complained and a manager called me back. He said he would call me back in 10 minutes and send someone out. He did not call back. They take your money and run and do nothing. I am now out $2,000 and I have a gas fireplace that does not work. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! read more

Summary: Great service, I would absolutely work with Chimcare again. Huge props to Noah and Mike for their professionalism and quick work. 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: First, it was really difficult reaching someone to schedule the work after the initial consultation. The quote came back quickly, and I accepted it that same night. But, it took about a week of calling before I reached someone to schedule the work. Once I finally did, though, they came out within 2 days and knocked it out. Second, they did not take much care with cleaning up the area on the roof where the chimney was. I didn't realize this was an issue until I spoke with other professionals on patching/repairing the hole in our roof, but every roof repair specialist I've met with since working with Chimcare has been surprised by the mess left over on the roof. The hole was covered by a piece of canvas - not a waterproof tarp - and held down by a couple cement blocks from the chimney. Most of the metal flashing was also left connected to the roof, making repairs a bit more difficult. Again, this issue only came to mind when other qualified professionals criticized the work left from Chimcare. I don't know if Chimcare folks would usually clean that all up, but it's something worth noting. Now, the positives: - Noah is a rockstar. He came out to quote us, gave us a good deal (roughly $3k), sent over the formal quote about 30 minutes later, etc. He was great and I was pleased to see him come back to do the actual work, alongside a master mason (Mike, who was also great). - Once Noah and Mike arrived, they quickly got to work! They removed most of the debris and hauled it all away. They finished it in just over 1 day, which was faster than they had originally anticipated. - I felt that Noah and Mike had my best interest in mind. They were very communicative, hard-working and kind. Note- they do require half of the quoted payment before you can actually schedule the work to begin. We hired Chimcare to rebuild our chimney from the roof line. I paid them 50% upfront. The day they came to do the work I asked them to confirm that the rebuild bricks would match the remaining chimney. They could not find matching material and we decided not to proceed with the project. That was in March 2023 it is now mid May and they will not refund the $3,843.91that they collected. Multiple calls on status of cap and plastic removal without return calls for another 2 months. left message I would not pay bill until job completed and was going to contact BBB. We contracted with Chimcare to restore two fireplaces in a 1950's house we had just bought. The work was shoddy and incomplete. One of the fireplaces had no glass front, the one they removed was, we were told, not reattachable. They only carry 3 sizes of doors and apparently the techs didn't know that when they measured and ordered doors. I hired someone else who easily reinstalled the original doors. The chimney caps were put on incorrectly,, when we have a fire in one fireplace, the smoke is drawn down the adjacent chimney and into the house. I have been told that the techs find me, a 70 year old woman, aggressive and refuse to come back. I don't want them back!!! I have not paid the full amount since the work wasn't completed. Scheduled an appointment for them to come look at my chimney, it needs work, they scheduled an appointment for about a month out. Mind you, the lady on the phone was very adamant about a $50 fee if you aren't there for the technician. They called a few days before the appointment and rescheduled, not a big deal, moved my schedule around to be there for the appointment. Day of appointment, 1 hour before their 8-12 window was over, called to say tech can't make it. Do not pre-pay for the service. I scheduled and paid for my service back at the beginning of October. My service was scheduled for November 3. I wasn't excited about waiting a month for my service, but it's a busy time of year so I should have planned better and dealt with it during the summer. November 3rd (the date of my scheduled service) came and went and no one showed up, no one even called. I had to call Chimcare to find out that my service wasn't actually scheduled. They told me someone from Chimcare should have called me to schedule my service (which makes no sense because you select your service date online when you schedule and pay for your appointment). Then I was told the earliest they could come to my house was mid-December! I told them I was very frustrated, they responded "there is nothing we can do." I asked to simply get my money back - it is 9 days later and I have received no refund, no call back, and their phone current just goes straight to voicemail. If you use this service, do not prepay. Called them to help me with a gas leak in a fire insert in my home that I just bought. They didn't tell me on the phone that they already came out to the home a few months previously with the old owner. So when they came out the guy who came out told me about how he was at the house a few months back and made a claim that a bracket was missing and that was where the gas leak was - yeah right why would a bracket around the glass be holding in the gas? Anyway refused to work on it and wanted to charge us $180 for coming out and telling us a story they should've told me at the time of booking. Rip off we instead called the utility gas company and they identified the leak was in the regulator. Got that replaced and no more gas leak. These guys don't know what they're doing and also won't share information they already have on your home they rather come out and tell you a story then charge you for it. read more

The inspection was not accurate, so the work scheduled was not right and we ended with their team leaving our house the final day of scheduled work letting us know that a portion of the work completed was not necessary and that there was no way for them to complete the work their inspector had deemed necessary. Just had Andrew out from Chimcare to make sure all was working well with our woodstove. We haven't used it in many years, and were worried there might be creatures or damage! Given how erratic our weather is becoming, knowing we can utilize a second heat source is becoming more important. The pre-appointment communication was great. Email confirmation, text once Andrew was on his way. He arrived friendly, cheerful, and full of helpful advice for how to best use our stove. He did a thorough look all around the unit, explained each piece's function, and went to the roof to check the pipe. At every step of the way he took photos and brought them back down to show me. At the end of our quick visit, he didn't charge me, nor would he accept my offer to buy his lunch. Considering there was no actual cleaning necessary, that felt very generous and kind in this day and age. What a great company to allow their employees to use their judgement. There prices were reasonable for a cleaning and creosote removal and they let us know that a couple of services we thought we might need were unnecessary. First, there is no office on Ballinger Way, it's in Renton. Second, they're not open Saturdays. Third, I called about a roof leak, was sold a $250 cleaning with inspection, and they failed to mention my flashing was never installed correctly and stones on the chimney stack are coming loose. When my ceiling started leaking the day after inspection, I was told I should have contacted a roofer. Now I'll have to call another chimney company to fix the masonry and still need to get the roof leak fixed. The video shows how bad the chimney stack is. Was told it was fine. I got a referral from a chimney sweeper who said my job was "too difficult". Ryan and his colleague arrived promptly at the scheduled time. they pointed out the unusual design of my old house chimney. It probably had never been cleaned. They took out a large amount of creosote (junk). They went up on my roof to investigate the chimney design. They were very polite and went to work right away. They took cameraphone pictures to educate me. they were very cautious about cleaning up afterwards and during the chimney sweeping.
