The estimate was right in the middle of the range (for this area), and we were able to schedule the work for early the next week. It was going to be a single day, but our "mission glitch" was some less-than-up-to-code electrical on the old system that needed to be brought up to code. That added a few hours and ran us over into the next day, but it was done at no extra charge. From start to finish, communication was timely and clear, by text and phone with email as a backup. However, the final price I paid was higher than what I was told over the phone, and I was also promised a discount that I did not receive. I also wish there had been clearer information about what exactly is included in the service. I hope the company will improve transparency around pricing, provide clearer communication, and that customer service will keep its promises in the future. I prefer companies being proactive. Their verbal quote in person felt like bait-and-switch, as it was not anywhere near the online quote. I had turned down other options as I liked the online bid. I explained this to the techs, and they were able to "negotiate" a better price (slightly higher than my online bid) so it was not exactly what I expected. What I liked is the job was complete on the day I requested. The techs tried upselling me in person, didn't give me anything in writing, and kind of hesitated when I'd explained I wanted them to either take off their shoes or wear booties, as the floor was recently cleaned. Again, they did the job on the day I'd requested and came highly reviewed, but I still have not received a written receipt (it's been nearly a week) and I don't care for the upselling when everything on the price menu is online. As they were able to finish one home I hired them to do another, based on time. Would I hire again, I'd give them a 3/5 stars, so not necessarily. It was 100% based on scheduling on why they got my business and they sold me on the instant reply and online menu, but I wasn't impressed with the mess (had to vacuum after they came) and the upselling and their hesitation of booties. When booking, I was quoted $209.00 (possibly $219) and told there would only be an extra $50.00 charge if the vent went through the roof. My vent is incredibly short--it goes straight through the wall adjacent to the dryer for about 5 inches to the side of the house. At the end of the service, the technician, Richard, showed me a total of $209.00 on the payment screen. I tapped my credit card and signed based on that amount. However, when the invoice arrived via email, I discovered I was actually charged $305.75! The breakdown revealed multiple hidden fees that were never disclosed: * Base price hike: They changed the base price to $269.00, later claiming it was because the dryer is on the 3rd floor (which was never mentioned during booking). * Tax discrepancy: They charged a 10.66% tax rate ($28.68 on $269), which is higher than the actual Seattle tax rate of 10.55%. * Hidden surcharge: They tacked on an undisclosed $8.07 credit card surcharge. The final amount was completely hidden from the screen when I authorized the payment. This is an unethical business practice. Check your receipts closely with this company!

VERY happy now. Prior review: We hired Capitol Duct because they were the only company we called that used a scope (camera) to examine the ducts before cleaning. We should have gotten the ducts cleaned before installing an in-duct booster fan, but we didn't think of it, so we needed the cleaners to be extra careful with their rotating brushes in that area. They came out 3-2-26. [I deleted the rest of my review, but the photos can' be deleted - they show dirt that showed up on our filter 2 months later. Capitol Duct came out again right away and took care of everything. NOTE to others - if something goes wrong, call them before posting a bad review.]

But they offered me to deep clean the other vents too, and I gladly accepted since I've noticed a lot of dust too. Richard the technician did a good job with the air vents and I could tell the air was lighter at home. However the dryer kept complaining days after. So I reached out and they had Richard come back again for second visit for free, and they realized my dryer ducts are extremely long and extremely clogged. In related news, I later found out that asking adding a surcharge for debit transactions is actually illegal per U.S. Federal law. Good to know. (https://usa.visa.com/dam/VCOM/download/merchants/surcharging-faq-by-merchants.pdf) You might bring this up when they attempt to do charge you for a debit card, which my agent did. They can charge up to 3% for credit cards. Nevertheless, the good folks are the office were very nice about reversing the double-charge. I am waiting to see when it comes through. Pro's - Basic work seemed to be done well and at a price that was competitive with others I contacted at least for the basic service. - Communication was prompt. - After some re-scheduling on their part, the team did the work swiftly and efficiently. - Most of the terms were clear in advance, using Yelp Projects. Con's - This is a fairly shiesty corner of the home maintenance world. Many providers seem to give you a low-ball estimate to get in the door and then upsell significantly. - Envirosmart is not an exception. - The initial quote was $200. This included scoping the ducts and doing the negative pressure clean-out. - Onsite, they then upsold me to $670 for a more thorough brushing of the vents, sanitation, and some other ancillary services. - They were only modestly well-organized. They called the day-of to reschedule because of a conflict with internal training. They also confirmed a different time than I had originally scheduled. It was the difference of a 9 to 11am original window and a 2:30-3pm arrival. - The Yelp Project communication could have been clearer. They did not specify whether they were calling to quote me or coming to do the service! Amid all this and with some clarification and flexibility on our part, we worked it out. I would have appreciated either a discount or additional service for the delay. None was proffered. I did not go ahead with the upsell as I had already gotten quotes for less from other providers with somewhat more transparent pricing. I think the work they did appeared fine. See attached pics. Your guess is as good as mine which are before and which are after! They did not specify when they sent them to me and email took off the timestamp. I'm hoping the cleaner ones. I probably will try another service when I do this again and with a higher rated provider. All in all, though, I had low expectations and those low expectations were met.
