I've had Jason Sandblom come out to my home twice. The first time he came to clean my two story chimney and did an excellent job despite the electrical issues in my home. The fireplaces were left clean, no residue or odor was in the home and my fires burned brighter than ever since then. Since he did a great job, I booked them to clean and seal the brick exterior. There was moss and soot accumulating on the outside and I was worried about decay of the mortar. He and his partner arrived on time and pressured washed the chimney and it made a huge difference in appearance. Jason did a great job explaining how to care for chimney and things to watch out for. He also educated me on the masonry services that Chimcare offers which I will likely due in the future as there is deterioration of the mortar in several spots around my home. read more

Ethan and Steven showed up on time, and efficiently took care of the masonry fixes and did really good work. They were totally polite and good to work with. The chimney sweep folks were just as good. The prices seemed high at first, until I got other quotes. I attempted to make appointments, (work/quote estimates), with four different chimney services that were highly rated on yelp. One was unresponsive, another responded with no interest in doing the work which I thought was rather odd, and a third one was very slow to respond, and after I provided them with detailed photos of my chimney work needed they went completely silent. CHIMCARE was the only service that contacted me in short order and set up my initial appointment to inspect my chimney for needed repairs. Jason/Chimcare came out to the house the following week, accessed the chimney on my roof, took pictures, and provided a thorough inspection report. No free estimates Based on the good Yelp reviews I called Seattle Chimney Sweep. The woman who answered the phone told me that they do not offer free estimates. I don't know what the chimney needs so I don't want to commit to paying them before they see the job. I just got off the phone with several other companies and they all give free estimates. There are plenty of chimney sweeps in the area. Be a smart consumer and call around before you commit to spending your money with anyone. read more

However, I was told I would receive an estimate for three things that should be serviced and I never received it. I emailed asking why I never received it and got no response. We just bought a house in Seattle and were unsure of our chimney's condition. We found Chimcare here on Yelp, made an appointment, and Ryan came over to check things out. The chimney was clean (thanks, previous home owner!), but the damper was rusted open and there were no spark arrestors on the flues (boo, previous home owner!). Bid process - showed up on time and was very through in explaining needs and cost. I believe his name was Adrian. Seemed knowledgeable and willing to explain things to me. Scheduling - was a few weeks out but totally understand given how busy this market is. Took 2 separate appointments to complete the work but seemed reasonable. Work - Really enjoyed the crew of Kyle and his brother (Ryan?). Very well mannered and like the look of the masonry. I am no expert on this type of work but aesthetically seems nice. Price/Payment: Appreciate their email and text updates on the invoices and payment process. Always tracked where I was with amounts due and remaining. Value - I have no idea. I did not receive any competing bids. I was satisfied with the reviews and the first impression the bid person made so went with Chimcare Seattle. We purchased a 1960s condo last fall and wanted to make sure the chimney was in good order before attempting a fire. Although there was a fairly lengthy wait to get an appointment, I thought that was a good sign. Ryan came out, arrived on time, did a thorough cleaning and inspection, found and corrected problems on the spot and at a reasonable upcharge. I was very impressed. He also offered advice on how best to avoid smoke when using the fireplace which has been a problem at our former home. I called to get a quote on repairing minor leak we've had around our chimney area. From the start, they were very prompt in schedule, confirming, and Adrian showed up right on time. He was very professional and took his time investing the issue. Unfortunately as it turned out he didn't think it was a chimney issue, rather roofing repair which they do not perform. So we didn't get to hire them. But based on what I saw, I would hire them if I needed work done with the chimney. Adrian followed through on sending me pictures he took as he promised. On the day of, I got a call from the real human who did the work, asking if he could come early and some details on my location. He showed up, did a very thorough job, cleaned up and left no mess. He was a pleasant guy. It was refreshing to deal with people and avoid a bunch of delays and problems just by talking briefly rather than through a website. There was an error in my address that would've put the guy in the wrong city, but it became a non-issue because I was able to speak with the guy coming to do the service.
