Flashing work done by Mitch and his team.
Karlo R.

Mitch and his team are amazing! They fixed the most atrocious flashing job on a chimney I've ever seen. Unfortunately the flashing was on my house. I had a roofing company install the flashing due to a leak that was happening and what they did was just place another piece of flashing on top of the old flashing. My house is a nice mid century modern home with the chimney as the main point of view when you're facing the house - so basically it's the first thing you see. Mitch saw this and came to the rescue. He worked with me to ensure it's exactly what we both envisioned it should look like. He took something as simple as flashing and made it look beautiful. He also sealed and did some masonry work on my chimney. I can't recommend his company enough! (I posted this on Google too but wanted to make sure everyone knew of the great work that Mitch and team did).

Old chimney, not great. Failed crown, bad flashing, lots of moisture damage.

I don't know if I've ever wanted to give a 5 star review more than for MK and Sons Masonry. They just completed a chimney rebuild for us on our 1952 home that had fallen into disrepair from moisture damage. Their price was lower than the other quote I got from a larger national company, and I feel confident their work is much, much better than what I would have gotten with the national company. Mitch clearly knows his stuff, and was super friendly discussing options and walking me through the work he was completing. Their team was on time, communicative, and professional; and they were really good about mask wearing when I was around (which is appreciated in these COVID times). I will never look to any other mason when the need arises, and I'd recommend MK and Sons to anyone. Need a mason? Call MK and Sons! Thanks for the great work, guys!

I was extremely pleased with the work that MK & Sons did for me. The chimney is transformed. Cleaner, brighter, sturdier and wearing its new cap. The guys who did the work -grinding out & replacing otter, replacing the crown, installing a glue tile & chimney cap- were a pleasure to have around. They were friendly and answered my questions happily & knowledgeably. They also worked their buns off. I was impressed. Setting up and taking down scaffolding, grinding, piping in the new mortar (it looks like a giant cake decorating tube), cutting the new flue tile - they stayed on task! They were respectful of my house & yard and left the worksite clean and tidy. They observed all safety protocols with face shields. Respirators and other PPE, incl. COVID masks upon arrival. MK & Sons price was very competitive. Communication on the project was clear and timely. Yes, there was a wait before you could do the work but, as I learned from you & the guys, this kind of work is weather dependent and spring temperatures some when they will. I always felt like I knew where my project was on your schedule and when the work would start & finish. Great job!

After repair

Mitch and sons/apprentices (Josh and Jordan) and Luke (third apprentice/helper), plus Dana (who manages the business side, such as appointment scheduling) are just awesome! I met with several masons for estimates and Mitch was the most skilled, experienced and knowledgable. He was not afraid to tackle the job - which was not easy. He had no fear because of the years and years of experience he has as a skilled mason. And he is not just an mason - he is an artisan, which is a rare find. I always seek out these experts, who run family-owned small companies - with many years of experience that can "walk the talk" and also take personal pride in their work (it's not just a paycheck to them). Josh, Jordan and Luke are polite, skilled, and hard-working young men and it's great to see how they are learning the masonry from their dad/mentor. We have a 1956 house with a brick type that was only made for a few years in the 1950s (you cannot get it anywhere - I did try to find it), but Mitch was able to reclaim some brick from an outdoor brick potter that was decimated by a blue spruce's roots planted there in the 1950s (if you have trees growing in exterior brick potters you should dig them out before their roots ruin the brick!) This was not an easy thing to do since the brick is pretty thin and it's easy to shatter it as you try to reclaim it. Also, he was able to use some spare bricks I found in the garage. He was able to replace the door and window lintels on the south side of our house that had rusted out and had expanded so they pushed all the above bricks upwards, so the brick was not in a straight, horizontal line. He got the bricks leveled out. He also repaired many spots in the exterior that were severely cracked, including replacing bricks using the few replacements available, as well as disguised the repair as needed, on multiple sides of the house, sometimes feathering with color to make it all blend in. He also came to seal our brick a month later to preserve it. Mitch has a great personality (mellow and easy-going), was always on time, called me when he, and the rest of the crew, were on the way to my house, and outlined, ahead of time, exactly what would be done and what it would cost. It did have to wait about 3 months (which was made clear to me upfront) for Mitch's services, because so many people want his expertise to fix their masonry. Repairing the brick was not easy, but he (and his crew) accomplished it. I think it was Josh that had the landscaping business and skillfully handled dealing with digging out a tree in one of the brick potters, recommended what shrubbery had to be removed to prevent future damage to the exterior brick potters, cut back some rhoddies in the right areas and spreaded the dirt from the removed planter to make a gentle slope (that looked nice and wasn't too steep) so I didn't have to have a bunch of dirt trucked out. I could not ask for a better experience! (Note: see "before" and "after" pictures I have attached.)

We trusted Mitch and his crew to tuckpoint 3 sides of our 1930 brick Tudor home and they came through with flying colors. Bid was not the lowest or highest of 4, but we liked the communication style from the outset. Mitch explained his plan, worked with us on timing the start, and updated us throughout the 3-week process. The crew was always on-time, worked efficiently, and did a good job of keeping the mess of grinding out hundreds of mortar joints to a minimum. They matched our unusual mortar color well and the finished product not only protects us from water damage but greatly enhanced the appearance of our home. Overall, great service, value, and results.

We hired Mitch to fill a space on our brick from moving a door in our brick home. Mitch was great to work with. He worked hard to find brick to match our home and we are very happy with the result. I have seen patches done on other brick homes that are super obvious but his work blended in very well. His pricing was also very fair for the quality work he did. We would definitely hire him again.

Before and after chimney crown repair. Another great job with MK and Sons Masonry! Thank you!

Just had our chimney cleaned and a cap installed. Josh was polite, personable and did a great job. Will absolutely use Mk & Sons Masonry from now on.

They showed me how bad it was falling apart to the touch...this got the ball rolling in my head (since i do have some roof leaks from around the chimney maybe) to address the chimney. These guys (again, off the street, no truck or anything) weren't going to be who i hired. So i had 2 companies come inspect & bid (both priced the same) and i went with Ed's. Oscar is the owner, Ed's son, and he's been doing chimneys for his whole life. When the owner is actually doing the work himself (like i do) is always an "im sold" situation for me. He and his assistant were at my place, on time, at a time that worked for me, for 5 hrs/3 days. Oscar explained every detail, answered all my questions, spotted some minor leak related stuff on my roof and fixed it at no extra charge. He is VERY in tune with maintaining high customer satisfaction. He was also conscious of making sure no carbon monoxide would creep into the house. He improved upon that exact situation that a previous heating company handled in an inferior capacity. They left no mess. I'm super happy with the new chimney! i have no doubt if there is any issues in the near future, he will be on top of it.

Aaron Woodward, owner, did a great job and my neighbors even commented on how nice it now looks and they noted how carefully he worked on it. I'm left with a nicer fireplace that now works properly. I will use Pristine Sweeps if I have any future fireplace needs, and I highly recommend Aaron if you have similar needs. The competitors missed details, and couldn't answer details about code standards. One of the competing bid indicated I had damage in my chimney that needed immediate attention -- Pristine Sweeps clarified with honesty, and not sales driven incentives, what I needed. They gave me options for minimal, nice-to-have, and where honest with feedback when I asked for more than I needed. They provided a balanced quote with options -- even the brick material. From start to finish, Pristine Sweeps demonstrated the highest level of professionalism, ensuring every detail was handled with care. Their workmanship was truly exceptional--precise, sturdy, and built to last. A local friend of mine who recently got her chimney done was in total disbelief in the quality difference between mine and hers. I was so impressed that I proceeded to also get a wood burning stove for my new chimney. I have an older house that sometimes lacks square or level corners, but Pristine Sweeps made sure I was happy with the end result, even though the issues were solely on the old house. Finally, I did not feel like just a customer. Pristine Sweeps did a follow up and made sure I was happy, even providing me with documentation to get a tax rebate on my chimney insert. If you're looking for a reliable, skilled chimney builder who delivers top-notch work, I highly recommend Aaron from Pristine Sweeps. I will definitely be calling them to do my maintenance moving forward.

Didn't go on the roof to inspect the chimney cap or flashing, didn't offer to scope the insert to see if it was deteriorated, didn't even turn the blower on to see if it worked. Then I pull the outside cover of the firebox off myself and find the flue isn't even attached to the firebox.
