    Chicken Fajitas
    Jon H.

After a long day at work, plans of cooking at home turned into deciding upon an affordable option for dining out. My fiancé was feeling Chili's, specifically for their Triple Dipper combo and chips & salsa. I had never been to a Chili's before. My expectations weren't very high, but you've got to try (almost) everything once, right? We arrived around 6:30pm on a Thursday evening to many guests waiting and a slightly more than half-full restaurant. We were told there'd be a 20 minute wait "to give the kitchen a chance to play catch-up" but were given no further explanation. Possibly low staffing? We eventually were seated in the bar area at a high-top. Chili's had a single bartender on shift who also waited tables in the bar area. She was doing what she could given the circumstances and was very nice, but since she was responsible for the bar and entire bar area all by herself it made service a little slow. This is definitely not on her and the service she provided. I ordered a Coca Cola. I like how they served their soft drinks in a frosty mug. Their $6 monthly special (Dragon Berry) Margarita was enticing though. We started with bottomless chips & salsa. I did really enjoy their chips. They were warm, thin, and very crispy. My fiancé ordered the Triple Dipper, which allows you to select three (3) appetizers (sliders, chicken tenders, wings, boneless wings, fried mozzarella, southwest egg rolls, etc.) She decided on the Crispy Chicken Crispers, Big Mouth Bite Sliders, and Fried Mozzarella. I asked her for recommendations and other than the Triple Dipper and chips & salsa, she recommended burgers and fajitas. I went with Chicken Fajitas and they came out sizzling on a skillet. Everything was portioned generously. Along with the bottomless chips & salsa, the fajitas gave me more than enough food to be satisfied. The texture of the chicken was a little weird. I don't know how to explain it other than a little rubbery, but it tasted fine. I wish the peppers and onions had a little more grilled texture as they seemed steamed and a little soft/soggy. The food was about what I expected which was decent for a sit down, fast-casual restaurant. We wanted somewhere that wasn't going to be too expensive. We also wanted to get in and out fairly quickly which was kind of negated by having to wait even with all the open tables. I'd visit again especially if my fiancé is craving their chips and salsa like she has mentioned multiple times in the past, but it's not a restaurant I'm going to be willingly running back to in the near future.

Placed an online order for pickup at 12:30, because that's when my lunch break starts. Got a text confirming the order and the pickup time, then another text saying the order was ready at 12:15?? What is the point of requesting a specific time if you're just going to make it whenever and let the food sit out. I arrived at 12:36 and my order was sitting out on the counter. Could see three people walking around in the back including one young lady who was inputting an order. Not one person even acknowledged me. Finally I called out that I was just grabbing my order (it was prepaid) since no one wanted to help me. The potato soup I'd been craving that prompted my order today, was lukewarm at best. Not the first poor experience I've had here.

Service is superb. Food is fine. Drinks are cold! Typical chain food, they do have some good deals and menu items that let you try a bunch of stuff. Pick 2 or 3 items and get a taste of everything... and great fries.

Not bad. Came at 5:30 on a weeknight. The place was basically close to empty with 2 other parties in the dining area and one group in the bar. We had prompt service. Overall the food was really good. The waitress was pleasant and had a great sense of humor. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Probably could have earned 4 stars but there was a serious fruit/drain fly problem, and we spent a good amount of time swatting. Not a great indicator of sanitation best practices.

It was very busy at the time I went and there was to be up to a 15 minute wait, so I was pleasantly surprised when no more than 2 minutes went by before I got the text that the booth was ready. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. It was bustling and loud inside. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and fast. Ordered onion rings for the table, which were very good. For the main dish, this time I ordered the 20oz bone in ribeye, which was excellent. The only complaint I'd have was that the broccoli was a bit off and I had to leave them on the dish. The mashed potatoes were very good. The "steak sauce" wasn't needed and taste-wise it probably won't be for everyone anyway. Located in the Moorestown Mall, you don't need to go into the mall as Yard House has its own entrance. There is plenty of parking in the lots. This was twice for me in the Yard House and I can say I'm a fan. I'd easily come back here or any other Yard House location in the future. And I will.

As for the beers they had a couple of good beers, but the rest were only average. While we were seated outside it was very quiet (everyone was inside) one other person came out to enjoy the outdoors and started smoking. At any brewery where we are from in NY smoking is prohibited even in the outdoor seating, so that was disappointing. It wasn't a bad brewery, but our visit wasn't impressive. We've been to many breweries in a ton of places, but I wasn't impressed enough here to come back.

Plus, a blue cheese in the ranch must be Housemade because they are out of this world. Also had an order of the Mexican calamari-delicious. And you know what we did? We drudged that calamari through the lemon pepper sauce from the wings. Sent us straight to Heaven! We had the Gramps cocktail, wasn't strong at all. It tasted like fruit punch. But we're thinking perhaps it's one of those sneaky cocktails that goes down easy, but bites you in the butt later, lol. Also had the lavender Bellini, absolutely delicious. Also got the pineapple martini, Taklatini, it was supposed to have a cinnamon, simple syrup, and and frankly it just tasted like a pineapple Martini with nothing special added. We checked out the menu and decided we would definitely come back to try some other items. We don't live nearby, but now we're thinking we would go out of our way to stop by to support it. At this point I'm starting to wonder if the chickens are real or if I've been the victim of an elaborate prank. Fortunately, the food more than made up for my poultry disappointment. We ordered a couple different wing flavors, including the Honey Mustard and a blueberry-based sauce, and both were excellent. The wings themselves were massive, meaty, and cooked really well. The Honey Mustard had a nice balance of sweetness and tanginess with just enough mustard bite to keep it from feeling overly sweet. The blueberry flavor was surprisingly good too. It had a sweet-tart fruitiness that sounds unusual on paper but worked really well with the smoky, savory wings. Both sauces had plenty of flavor without completely overpowering the chicken. The atmosphere is classic neighborhood pub. Cozy, casual, and the kind of place where people seem comfortable settling in for the whole evening. Downstairs there's a bar and shuffleboard area that definitely attracts a younger crowd. It gets pretty lively and noisy, which adds to the fun if you're there with friends. My only real complaint is that parts of the place felt a little messy. The stairs leading downstairs were sticky, and parts of the basement floor were too. Nothing that ruined the experience, but it was noticeable. The staff, however, were fantastic. Fast, friendly, and personable. Even when things were busy, they kept everything moving and made us feel welcome. Overall, it's a fun spot with great wings, good energy, and a laid-back crowd. Still giving it four stars because I left without seeing a single chicken, and I feel mildly betrayed.
