I saw many empty tables and booths when we entered late afternoon on a Sunday. Despite that our group of three was led to a booth in the back near the stinky rest rooms. I used the ladies and it was in need of cleaning. The trash bin was over flowing. As we sat down I noticed the all the black patrons including our group was being sat in the back. Hey, what's up with that? Felt like despite the many empty booths up front we were being segregated in the back next to the restrooms. We were given 3 small plates for the chips. One had a black smudge on it and another was chipped. Had to request water and waited a while for new plates. Service was lack luster but the food was good. Won't return to this location. read more

Mixed feelings about this place. Food was fantastic and it's the only reason I'll return. Service, is another conversation. Our waitress was very inattentive and really only came to our table three times. It is what it is. But what really threw me off was this.... Just like any other modern restaurant, waitresses carry around the little tablets where you tap your card and pay for your dinner. Our waitress, grabbed my card from my hand, tapped it, and then sat the tip menu in front of me. Mind you she grabbed my card, I didn't hand it to her. Odd right? THEN, as I'm looking at the tip screen, she is leaning over the table and looking at me and the screen as I'm supposed to choose how much I tip. Who in the fu.... Eaten at Plaza multiple times and enjoyed everything I've ordered. I've tried the Birria-Rito, burrito San Jose, quesadilla Al pastor and all were delicious. The portions are big. Their fajitas are also delicious. I love the crema sauce that comes with the free chips. I really like the Mexican lemon drop drink. It's way bigger than a shot. Love the ambiance inside. Walking in, it was dark, quiet and cold. Unfortunately this is as far as we got. The chips tasted like they came from a bag. The "Queso" was almost like a liquid American cheese in a big bowl. Many moons ago, we went to the Sicklerville location. This was super similar and equally as yummy! Im not a big franchise gal, but Plaza Azteca - let's go! We loved the "table-side guacamole" appetizer! Very fun and yay for me picking the cilantro amount! The birthday girl went with fish tacos. I had the mixed meat fajitas (sans the peppers). Both came with rice & beans (refried beans/ black). We both really enjoyed all of our food! (Only a slight ding on the buttery(?) rice). Big portions and nice prices. This place takes me back to when Don Pablo's, On the Border, and all the other chain Mexican restaurants were big. This is most definitely a chain. If you are expecting authentic Mexican, please go to the other restaurants in the area. If you are looking for Americanized Mexican, then this may be your place. Family and I came here after the movies and it was just okay. Service was good. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, but the food meh. All the food was salty, and platters drowned in queso blanco. The chips came out hot and the salsa was good. The birria tacos were just okay. Others at the table got chicken tacos, a burrito and a combo. Everyone's food was fine but no one was raving. Dragon fruit mocktail was probably the best drink at the table. Marg flights are nice, you can choose 4 flavors and it comes in a fun display. The ambience and service were really great. Located at the site of an old Bertucci restaurant. Nicely decorated. It's recently opened and packed on a Thursday at 6 pm. Bar was full and we waited about 20 minutes for seating. There was live music and a packed restaurant so it got pretty loud. Food came out quickly once we ordered despite how busy it was. Unfortunately, our meals were unremarkable. No real depth of flavor although really large portions. The guacamole cart was fun and the best tasting part of our meal. Complimentary chips and salsa: no real punch of flavor. Meh. Went to check out plaza Azteca with friends as they recently opened. They were pretty busy for a Thursday night. After putting our name in for a table we headed to the bar area which had plenty of open seats at that time. Surprisingly it took a while for one of the bartenders to get us a menu, even longer to have someone ask us for our drink order. The guy standing next to us who showed up long after we did was served immediately, which I found very frustrating. Our table was ready shortly after the time frame we were told. We were given a great table in the corner which gave more ability to hear each other as the place was crowd and someone was playing live music near the bar. We started off with the table side guacamole which was the best tasting item of the evening. Everything else lacked flavor, the description on the menu was not clearly explained so when the meal came it wasn't exactly what was expected. Also there seemed to be a language barrier as we asked for the cilantro not to be added to the guacamole but left on the side. When ordering the quesadilla we asked for just the meat and cheese nothing else inside but that didn't happen. read more

We have been looking forward to the opening of Plaza Azteca now as it's very close by and we love Mexican food! We arrived around 7:30 on a Thursday night and the place was packed. No seats available at a large bar and only a couple available tables when we walked in so we were seated immediately, but as soon as one table was finished, another group was seated right away. I'm not crazy about the layout of the restaurant but I do like the decor they went with. They started us with chips, salsa, and some kind of sour cream/crema salsa. We both enjoyed the red salsa. My fiancé wasn't a fan of the white salsa, but I didn't think it was too bad. When we finished our first basket of complementary chips, they did ask if we'd like more which we agreed to. I have to be honest I felt a little rushed by our server, the entire night. He was very nice but as soon as we were seated I felt as if he was trying to take our order before we even had a chance to open a menu. I thought the drinks were excessively expensive. The house margarita was $15 but came in a large glass and was pretty strong. With all that being said I did really enjoy it. The rest of the margaritas on the menu were $20+. After a long deliberation and much back and forth about what we were going to order to eat, we both chose fajitas. My fiancé selected chicken, while I picked the Fajitas Chihuahua which came with chicken, shrimp, and bacon. The food did surpass my expectation. I wouldn't say it was great, but we did enjoy our meals and the portion sizes were very big. Our fajitas came with rice, hers with beans and mine with lettuce/tomatoes. I couldn't finish my meal, especially after the chips & salsa (and I rarely ever have leftovers). We had an enjoyable visit. We love that Plaza Azteca is so close to home and gives us another viable option for a night out. I look forward to coming back after the initial opening hype dies down a bit and the staff gets some more experience under their belts. I think at our next visit we'll have to try the table-side guacamole or ceviche which I think is a very personable and unique experience. read more

As we entered this new spot, a family warned us, "Turn around; it's not good." Curious but undeterred, we decided to give it a shot and sat at the empty bar. Things started promisingly with prompt service of chips and dips, but that's where the positive experience ended. Despite making eye contact with the bartender several times, I eventually had to wave him down just to place our drink order. Paying $22 for a cocktail might be expected in the city, but it felt steep for Marlton, especially with the minimal alcohol content. It looked cute, but definitely not worth $22. I also asked for waters alongside our drinks, but they never arrived. After that, the service completely halted--no follow-up for appetizers or entrees. Given that this is a chain with a well-established location in Sicklerville that's been around for 9 years, I expected a smoother experience. We might give it another try after it's had more time to settle in. read more

We went on a Friday night at 6:00 and waited an hour and fifteen for a table. Had a round of margaritas at the bar - they were alright heavy on the orange liquor. We ordered two apps and six entrees. The entrees arrived first so we told them to remove the apps. The food was average. A week in, they still have some kinks to work out. Will try again in the future. read more

This opened recently and as lovers of Tex-Mex food, we had to try it out. We stopped by around 4:30PM, well before the dinner rush and were seated immediately. It took some time to scan the large menu, which included not only traditional Mexican, but other dishes that wandered into other cuisines, such as the Shrimp Chipotle Pasta ($27) that my wife selected. I went with a more traditional dish of Tacos de Carne Asada, including rice and black beans. I also ordered a Classic Mojito. We started off with chips and salsa, and both were excellent. My wife's shrimp dish was picture perfect and she loved the taste. I was less enthralled with my tacos because the beef was overcooked and quite dry, with absolutely no sauce. However, it was good enough so I didn't say anything, possibly because my Mojito was quite excellent and we were quite hungry. We'd been out all afternoon and wanted to get home so we didn't partake of dessert. Both ambiance and service were superb and the staff was very cheery and personable. read more

I tend to avoid chain restaurants when I can, but when you're in the suburbs, especially in an area such as this part of South Jersey, you may not always have a choice when finding something good to eat. Surprisingly - or not - the restaurant was quite busy on a Saturday evening. Because they don't take reservations over the phone (odd?), we hung out at the bar until our table was ready. As a party of 4 (2 couples), us men enjoyed a quick Modelo while the ladies enjoyed their margaritas, which amazingly come in such a huge size that I'm surprised anyone gets through one of them. With that said, we got our table in about 30 mins. As for the food, we got some table side guac that was pretty good. We got some extra jalapeño in there for some kick, which was smart. For the main meal, we did not make the rookie mistake in the previous review and instead split one meal for the two of us: the ENCHILADAS VEGETARIANAS. We wanted the combo originally, but was bummed that they weren't adaptable to vegetarians. In fact, a lot of the items weren't customizable, which is a shame in 2025 (minus star). Also, we found the service to be a little bit terse as the waiter was trying to rush us at times to order... though ironically we couldn't find him when we wanted to leave after we finished eating. As for the main course, the food was not too bad. We got a healthy serving of fresh veggies in the enchiladas. I'm still trying to get used to the white cheese sauce, so it'll take some time. I did wish we had yellow rice instead of white rice, but that's just me being picky. The only mistake I made was not taking any photos. What saved this place from a 3 star review was the fact that the birthday celebrations here are a total party. It's wild. read more

Pretty busy on a Sunday. Waited about 10 mins. The menu is pretty good with tons of options. I had the Burrito Texana. It's chicken,steak and shrimp with a cheese sauce on top with Mango,tomatoes and onion. It was pretty big. The price was $20. The guacamole was expensive $15 but they do it fresh table side. They had live Mexican music and people who had a birthday had the best surprise ever! It's a must see. I've eaten at the Sicklerville location and a bunch in Pennsylvania. Had high hopes, reviews were very mixed. So I gave it a try. Inside is very nice. Service was attentive and friendly. Once we ordered the food came out super fast....almost too fast! The food itself...I never had ranch dip for the chip before, so that was interesting. The menu is big, so maybe you need to find a standout on it. I ordered one of the combos so I could try everything. Not sure why they put their cheese sauce on almost everything. I prefer real shredded melted cheese over the cheese gravy. Portions were big, but all of the meats seemed under seasoned. Meat tasted like meat....chicken like chicken...I guess I was expecting something else? The taco was the best part of my combo. The taco shell, fresh lettuce and shredded cheese helped make the ground meat on it work. I will probably give it another try because the fajitas looked great at another table. read more

There are so many lovely small, family run restaurants to choose from, so already from the get go I wasn't going to be shocked if my expectations were going to be low. Chain Mexican places are not my first choice, especially when I saw the prices. Yikes. Granted, the amount of food was on the generous side, but if the food is mediocre, then what's the point? I ordered a combo that came with three or four items, all of which tasted almost exactly the same. Huh? The guacamole cart was an interesting idea, but what's the point of paying $15 for that when you tell the girl to do cilantro on the side, and then she puts an entire serving of cilantro in the dish? We were too tired to argue, and I felt sorry for my friend who hates cilantro and actually paid for this as a treat for the group. Came here on a busy Friday night with an hour wait. Decided to wait at the bar, which was packed and a little loud. Stood at the corner of the bar in hopes of ordering a margarita, and luckily was noticed by a bartender. She answered some questions about the flight without trying to rush us. Was able to order drinks and an appetizer. The drinks were expensive, but they were made very well. Not too sour, not too sweet. We ordered table side guacamole, which they do still come to the bar area to make it in front of you. It was surprisingly good. As my party stood there, we witnessed birthday celebrations happening about every 20 minutes. As promised, we got our table within an hour. Luckily someone helped us move our appetizer to our table, while we carried our drinks. Ambience was a little quiet at the table. We were offered a fresh batch of chips a few times throughout the night by someone specifically in charge of chips and salsa. This was pretty amazing as I am used to having to track down the waitress at other restaurants, and then waiting/hoping for it to arrive. Food also arrived pretty fast. I got the seafood chimichanga, which was very good. The shrimp was cooked right, and the cheese sauce was very good. The restaurant seems to have a good model in terms of how the staff work together. All staff gets together for the birthday celebrations, I see staff genuinely helping each other. everyone had a smile on their face. I will definitely be back. Wish they with took reservations or had an online waitlist so I could come with kids without much of a wait. read more

I'm pretty upset that I didn't take any pictures of my food. It was so delicious and the vibe of the restaurant did not miss (although the music was a bit loud...we were directly under a speaker and had a large party!) Our server took care of all 8 of us quickly and made sure our cups stayed topped up. We ordered appetizers which came quickly, followed by the food in short order! The empanadas were a highlight! My main was the Enchiladas Poblanas and it hit every single note like a sweet, beautiful harp. No, seriously...get this. It is so good! I'm sad I live so far away because the mole was soooooo good! No flavor, mushy fish...and the margarita I choose, a spicy one, was refreshing but it better be for the steep ticket price $20 (and that was the cheapest of the many- I even asked if it was a pitcher price!) Place is very loud and the check-in area is a mess. You figure they would have fixed that prior to opening, but they didn't. It is a real pain. The food is OK, not great and their selections are limited. You only get sides with certain meal selections which is disappointing. The tortillas are not white flour and were burnt, not once but twice. Not sure what type of flour they are made from, but we did not like them. We went twice and will not be heading back. We went to Plaza Azteca tonight for dinner since it's new to the area and we haven't tried it yet. When we arrived there was about a 10-15 minute wait for a table and it was very crowded for a Wednesday night. We went over to the bar to grab drinks while waiting for our table. The drink prices were much higher than other restaurants in the area. Most drinks were $20 and up. We had mango and strawberry margaritas. The flavoring tasted too fake and sweet for my liking. We were seated in a booth, which looked nice but weren't very comfortable and was half wiped down. They gave us complimentary chips, salsa, and another dip. The other dip was unique and pretty good. We had the mex burrito and the San Jose burrito. My mex burrito had steak and unfortunately they used the cheapest steak and it was overcooked. The San Jose burrito chicken had good flavor and my fiancé enjoyed it. The server was nonexistent throughout the entire meal and we had to waive him down for boxes and the check. We walked out and I forgot my To-go box, and I realized this within 30 seconds of leaving. By the time I got back inside, the box was gone. I was disappointed to see this seeing that they weren't attentive at all during our dinner, but cleared the Togo box in under a minute. Overall the restaurant was just okay. read more
