Went in for lunch, food was ok, server Melkin, rushed us to order and the place was not busy. The meal came at a reasonable amount of time, our server never offered to or refilled our ice teas and then after I asked for a box to go he cleared the table and bought our check without offering if anyone was interested in desert. I asked if anyone would like desert. He also knew he got a tip on the CC payment but was also taking the tip that our guest was going to leave since they did not know he was already tipped. We moved here from Pennsylvania where we were once regulars at the Plaza Azteca in Lancaster. About a year ago that location went badly downhill, so we stopped going. When we got to Mt. Laurel we noticed the Marlton site being built. Being curious we tried them out. This location was back to the quality we originally enjoyed. But not without limitations. First, when you arrive there is almost no room for you to wait in. Most people leave their phone number and go sit in their cars. Even the bar becomes overloaded. Once seated the menu is nearly identical to other locations. The food was served quickly and was very pleasant looking. The flavor and quality was top notch. Service was attentive without being overbearing. The Manager was available and roamed to make sure each guest was happy. Once finished, the bill was settled right at the table. Our only negative is that it can be very noisy which is the hit we list on atmosphere. I'd recommend them and look forward to returning soon. read more

We came here at 4:00pm, there were three of us. There was no wait and not that busy. We all ordered at the same time. One person got their food at 4:30pm and the other two of us didn't get our food until 5:00pm. The food was really good; however it was really disappointing that everyone's food didn't come out together, therefore, we didn't really get to eat together, and two out of three people had to wait an hour for food. read more

I think I found my new favorite Mexican restaurant. Newly opened in Marlton area of south jersey, Plaza Azteca. It was pretty busy when we went but got seated right away. Our server Kelly was so amazing, very attentive and the food was great. Menu was big, looking forward to go try more. read more

Small portions of meat in the tacos , even smaller portions of rice and beans. Ordered 2 margaritas , the glass was filled to the brim with ice and had very little alcohol in them. Which would have been fine if they didn't charge $20 - $25 per drink. The ambiance of the place gave me a headache. They sung the world loudest happy birthday chant every 10 minutes and was very uncomfortable to listen to. Definitely would not recommend , the bill for 2 people was $110 + tip. I want to love it here, but they just can't seem to execute with the consistency you expect from a chain. It was a very long wait so we went to the bar for drinks. My husband loved their take on a Mexican old fashioned. My margarita was good (hints of vanilla and passion fruit), but I expected a rim, garnish, or even the offer of a straw from the bartender. That didn't happen. The drinks aren't cheap, but the margaritas are presented to you that way. When I ordered a second margarita at the table, (the same drink again) it was COMPLETELY different. Not good at all. It was watered down as if it sat on the bar all night, actually had a rim, and a hard piece of stale candy, AND a half dead carnation in it. I highly recommend the queso! The table side guac was worth it, the salsa was average, the chips were awful. Our friend ordered an Al la cart burria taco and they forgot to put the cheese on (cheese is mentioned in the menu description). She also got an Al la cart fish taco. It was average with a soggy shell. I ordered a burrito which was very good and very large. It came with rice and refried beans. My husband also got the same burrito which had no rice or beans. I hope this place can get its act together because it has the potential to be great. The atmosphere and music are good and the kitchen is fast, but the accuracy is lacking and the consistency seems nonexistent even within the same table order. read more

This place flat out sucks, when you think of crap Italian you think of Olive Garden. This is equivalent to Olive Garden of Mexican food. The chips are mediocre, the salsa is watery and worse than a can, the cold paste that also comes tastes strange. The "Texas" fajitas had zero flavor, cooked in a pan of grease, uncooked raw vegetables. The enchiladas were filled with the smallest portion of meat. Tableside guac lady has a tip jar? Wtf am I tipping for. The only decent thing here was the mojito flight. Waitress was non existent until it's time to pay bill and have the tip screen jammed in your face. Go to Taco Bell instead, you'll spend a quarter of the price and get more flavorful food. On the border is better than this and that's just a Mexican Chilis in disguise. I didn't know what to expect as people have been raving about it on Facebook, I thought maybe it would be some authentic food but this is just bad. Super loud and bright, almost like a school cafeteria. Portions were big, but doesn't change the food is bad. The bill for 2 adults and a kid came to almost $150 with tip. Way overpriced for what it is. Not sure what the hype is but you couldn't give me a gift card to return. Give a try, you'll be disappointed like we were. read more

First, I'd like to say that the bartender was very attentive. But the drinks were very overpriced. I got the premium margarita. It came in a big glass, but it was made with triple sec. Premium to me suggest Cointreau not triple sec. My friend got the jalapeño margarita. It was very fancy but way too sweet. Before dinner, we decided to share guacamole. It was made tableside. While I don't like the over pasteurized or blended guacamole this had huge chunks. I couldn't taste the onions, the jalapeños or anything else. I asked for extra jalapeño which came, but it was deveined and had no seeds. It had no kick. It needed flavor and salt. And after that, I left. I figured if you can't make a real margarita and decent guacamole, the entrée could not be good. read more

I hate to write unsavory reviews but here goes. We did not have a good experience here. Our server was hard to get a hold of, not particularly welcoming, and not knowledgeable about the menu. 1. Brought us a chipped cup of water- started to leak all over the table. Once we flagged down our server, he brought us a stack of napkins to clean up the mess and left. Fine, we cleaned the mess and left the wet napkins on the side hoping he would take them away. 2. He brought our food and quickly walked away while we were asking to take the wet napkins to the trash. 3. Our straw was broken (in the paper package) and therefore, didn't work-- not his fault. 4. My husband asked if he could order steak and shrimp fajitas and the server entered the order into the device. They brought "mixed" chicken and steak with no explanation prior such as "Hey we can't do steak and shrimp, is there something else I can get you?" It just showed up the way it did and that was that. No apology when we mentioned to him-he wasn't sure how to respond. 5. The food was mediocre. The fajitas we ordered were just the protein, peppers, and onions. There were no Mexican flavors, spices of any kind. It was fine but again, did not have any kind of distinctive flavor. Unfortunately, we will not return here. This place looks like it would be good but the food is really mediocre, not authentic Mexican and the rice looks like the off brand stuff from the supermarket. Also the service is absolutely terrible. Tried, in person, to place a take-out order tonight, would have spent approximately $200, literally took 15 minutes the girl didn't speak English too well and didn't seem to know which buttons to hit on her menu display, it just went on and on finally she took a call and started taking someone else's order (!) and I just walked out. I stood there almost 20 minutes. I'll never eat here again as the food would have to be really good to deal with them and it most definitely isn't that. read more

We were seated at 6:10, appetizer nachos came out in 3 minutes, even before our drinks, rush rush to order and then food comes out in less than 5 minutes and the server is clearing plates and drinks (trying to) that weren't even finished yet at 6:30 and then handing us our check by 6:35 and shoving a credit card machine in my face meanwhile our margaritas still were still not even finished. The food was fine, I think. But this is the 2nd time we've come here and clearly the goal is to rotate tables in and out more than an actual relaxing dining experience. Won't be back sorry to say. I have been wanting to try this restaurant. I found the food very uneventful. It lacked flavor and freshness. I didn't like the cut of beef for fajitas. It was cut in a matchstick shape and was dry and over cooked. The empanadas also lacked flavor and came with a strange salad on side. The noise level was very loud. Not a quiet restaurant experience. The food was amazing. The only reason why I'm giving them a four star review is because I asked for the chimichanga to be fried and they brought it to me soft. I got the Texas style chimichangas. it had fresh vegetables. It tasted really good, but there was almost no chicken in it. So if you are getting the Texas style chimichanga, don't expect much chicken to be in there. It's really more vegetable than anything. The meal came with rice refried beans, and the cheese cream sauce. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to fried chimichangas, but I enjoyed eating the soft ones. I have to say that it is much better than the Mexican food places in Medford that I've tried. I do plan on going back there again. The waitress was a great waitress and unfortunately I don't have a receipt to say who it is but she was really good. I wanted to sit at the bar but we did not because they had a person playing music on a guitar and singing, and it wasn't really good. The entrance to get into this place is dark and if you miss it, it's a really long turnaround process . Their sign is right outside of the exit complex. I hope that in the future they put better lightingthere.and make it easier for people to see they get in there. Overall, if you're looking for a good Mexican food and a good atmosphere I would recommend going here. Prices are good prices. Cheaper than the ones in Medford taste a whole lot better than their food as well. Their chips and salsa was delicious. I hate cilantro, but they had it in their salsa along with the spiciness of it. Food is plentiful and expensive for Mexican cuisine. Order Mexican rice for $14:00 on menu but waitress made us order an additional topping for another $7:50. We just wanted the Mexican rice. Also ordered a side of guacamole for $8:00 very overpriced for a half of avocado. They seemed to push the table side avocado for $15:00 we can possibly eat that much. The music could have been a little lower. But here would be the topper,when it came time to pay the check the waitress had this hand held device and told us it could not give us a receipt because of no internet connection and she had to show my bill on the screen of the device. It was a little confusing looking or trying to check out our bill. Now the question if they had no internet connection how or why did it take my credit card? Maybe try another place next time or I see the management answers some of these reviews back. Think I will get an explanation? read more

We finally tried the Marlton location on Saturday afternoon. The Hostess was very friendly. Our server, who was also the bartender was very friendly. The menu was huge but we were disappointed that they don't offer tamales, something my husband loves. Our drinks were fine, we did not opt for the pricey marks. Food was delivered promptly and was hot. Both of our meals were lacking in substance. My husband got a combo and neither of the items had much food inside the wrap. I had the Cali fish tacos. There were 3, but each one only had a small strip of tilapia, couple ribbons of Cabbage and some creama. I combined the contents from all into 1 taco. The taste was good, but I left hungry since there was really only 1 taco. We won't be going back. read more

Approximately a year ago, I won a Plaza Azteca gift card through my school district and was eager to use it at the new Plaza Azteca in Marlton. The wait was long and the food was mediocre. The host who was seating people was rude. A server told us could sit/eat in the bar area- when in fact, the host told us we could not. When I went to use the gift card for the bill, the manager said it could only be used at the Sicklerville location. I was very disappointed because there was nothing on the gift card that mentioned this. When I went home and looked on the site, it mentioned this, but the information was "buried" and very hard to locate. I would not recommend Plaza Azteca. read more
