I had a really great experience here! When I walked in it was very welcoming. The food was great. The prices are very good. The ambiance was good too. There was music playing but it was not too loud. People were sitting and eating and having conversations. There was just an all around great atmosphere. I really loved it here and I can't wait to come back!

Good tacos for a good price! I ordered and they were ready within ten minutes. Perfection soft tacos. I will be back and prob often.

I had the carne asada (steak) taco plate- it comes with chips and salsa, 2 tacos, and rice + beans. Nice filling meal. These have been the best and closest authentic tacos that I have tried in Philly. I got an horchata to complete the meal. If i were to crave Mexican food again, i would return. Only negative is that their dipping salsa (for the chips) did not taste fresh or delicious.

Ordered a shrimp burrito bowl to take out. Meets my expectation. The price is reasonable too. Will be back if I have the chance to be around again.

This might be my new favorite tacos place in Philadelphia! As a major taco fan, I love trying new places and finding hidden gems--Tico's is just that! The service was amazing, it didn't break the bank and I can't wait to go back! Tico's is located on South Street and provides a family environment with many delicious options for everyone! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I love that they have tvs outside and picnics benches, my kind of place. My mojito was so freaking good and if I just went for drinks they would probably get 5 stars. That's not the case. The Bad: We waited awhile for our food but no big because it's crowded. The nachos came without the pulled pork and were so so salty but lacking cheese and everything else. She did end up giving us the pulled pork on the side. The ok: our shrimp tacos were ok just seemed like shrimp and sauce in a tortilla but the flavor was good. Bbq platter was ok, e liked the bbq sauce and hot sauce choices. The ugly: after waiting awhile for our food to come out it was cold, the rice, the refried beans and the baked beans for the bbq were all cold not even a little warm. Our waitress was busy and hard to catch so we just left it. Ate what we wanted and left, they include 20% gratuity in the check. I'd go back because I like the vibe a lot just things were a miss tonight.

Best Tex-mex in fishtown!…read more Ofcourse that's a quote from a local friend, I personally haven't been around the area enough to say that but I was happy to accept such a thing as our food was perfect all around! Just went with chips and quac to start up, then I personally went with the chronic because, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, on a sandwhich together? The added toppings brought it all together and devoured every bite! Drank a Texas goldrush as well which was very tasty. Overall, great food, vibes and service. Check them out!

The bar has a fantastic variety of tangy, spicy, bright toppings and salsas to make your taco your own. My favorite is always the reddish orange salsa and this one tastes just like the taco places back in Texas. The tacos are hefty, so that makes up for the slightly higher than average price. They didn't have jamaica when I went so they subbed in mango juice and it was incredible, my new go-to. Service is friendly, fast and there's plenty of seating and a nice outdoor space.

Honestly El Rey is great!…read more As a Los Angeles native, Mexican food is always a "not as good as California" affair, and with that bar, it's hard to find anything that holds a candle. But El Rey is good in its own right, taking familiar foods and flavors, with a bit of a fancier twist, and making a good meal that I love to eat and enjoy! Seating and service here is friendly and prompt. Even when it's pretty loud and seems packed, there are always a handful of open tables available, where we've usually been able to be seated almost immediately. Such was the case this evening. We were on a bit of a time crunch so we ordered immediately and our food came out so fast that the waiter for our table was surprised as the food beat him with our napkins to the table. We ordered the Tuna Tostada and the Yucatan Spiced Chicken Fajitas. Both were amazing! Good thing for our tight timeline, the food was gone as fast as it came. The waiter helpfully recommend the house hot sauce, which was certainly spicy and a good compliment on our fajitas. Overall, a great place to dine for Mexican-inspired! Laying aside my California bias, El Rey is a fun time every time we come.

I hadn't been to El Rey in years, but we scored last-minute Valentine's reservations and WOW. The vibe was lively, warm, and perfect for a fun night out. - Let's talk about these STEAK TACOS . Perfectly seasoned, tender, flavorful -- the kind of bite that makes you close your eyes for a second. They were so good I came back two days later just for them. That's not a craving... that's infatuation. - The Chayote Salad completely surprised me. Fresh, bright, and paired with their homemade hot sauce? My palate was awakened. I even brought it home (with dressing and hot sauce on the side) and it still hit! Speaking of heat -- if you love spicy food, ASK for their homemade hot sauce. It's bold, fiery, and addictive. I genuinely want a bottle for home. Service? 10/10. From the manager to the hosts to the bartender -- everyone was kind, attentive, and patient. They even remembered me from Valentine's Day, which says everything about how they treat their guests. Bathroom Check: Clean? Yes. Cute ambiance? Yes. Great mirror for photos? Absolutely. And again -- CLEAN. El Rey, I'll be back soon
