Village Idiot Brewing Company - Dog friendly

Pretty sure Village Idiot is the OG brewery in the underrated town of Mt. Holly, which makes it one…read moreof the oldest breweries still operating in South Jersey. Hard to tell exactly when it opened, as their website offers scant information, but they first started posting on Facebook in 2011 if that is anything to go by. They don't have a large footprint in the NJ brewing scene as they don't distribute to any liquor stores or bars/restaurants (they don't even offer beers in cans to go), and they don't do any big events other than the typical karaoke or trivia nights. What they do offer is a nice place to hang out in an old historic building right on the Main Street in the downtown area, and a solid lineup of beers. One thing that makes them stand out is a great selection of beers on nitro. From my experience with NJ breweries, you're lucky to find a single beer on nitro. At Village Idiot there are seven of them, most of them dessert stouts like a cookie butter white stout and a salted caramel milk stout. All that we tried were delicious and not crazy high in ABV like other dessert stouts. Flights are only $10 which is pretty cheap compared to other NJ breweries. Of note is that as of November 2025 they no longer allow outside drinks including water bottles like Nalgenes and Stanley Cups. Too many idiots sneaking in alcohol, according to their social media. Overall it has a bit more of a dive bar vibe only frequented by locals rather than a traditional NJ brewery, but the beer is definitely good enough, and the surrounding Main Street charming and quaint enough that I would definitely return.

Fun place, good beer! Loved the decor of the place and the ambiance. All around a very friendly…read moreplace!

Every beer I've had has always been competently brewed and has ranged from good to great. Never had a bad beer here, and my God I've had quite a few NJ beers over the years. They don't distribute to bars/restaurants/liquor stores to the best of my knowledge, but they have a wide variety of beers canned and ready to go in their beer fridge. Most recently came here on a Thursday night in August. It was about half full, so not dead but not obnoxiously crowded either. Enjoyed a flight while watching the Phillies (they lost, alas...), and bought two four packs to bring home with me - the backyard copper cream ale and the golden peach ale - which cost $25. Overall a place that flies under the radar in the vast NJ brewing scene, but nice place to hang out with solid beer.

I got Jersey blonde, blood orange copper, pale 42 and sour pineapple (left to right). The blood orange was the best. My friend got the Berry Chaos which was the best one we tried. The place was pretty empty which was nice so we could relax and hear each other talk. There is a nice outdoor area and lots of board games to play. It looks like they host trivia nights and game nights which look so fun. I definitely look forward to coming back on one of those nights.

Dr Brewlittles Beer - 2nd floor event space

We had a larger group and there was plenty of space for everyone. We took a quick tour of the private upstairs space. It is beautiful and perfect for hosting events. A few of the beers that were popular amongst our group included: Dock's Orders (Pilsner), Orange Dawgs Nation (White Ale), Maple Shade Lager, and some kind of berry flavored fruited sour I forget the name of but I loved. The only beer that I wasn't too crazy about was the Granny Sam Green Apple Sour but once the other fruited sour kicked I ended up switching to Shandy Cheeks. I was skeptical as it's lemonade mixed the beer of your choice. I had it with Dock's Orders and actually loved it. It was light, refreshing, thirst quenching, and very easy to drink. Highly recommend especially if you're not much of a beer drinker but find yourself here with a group of friends. Everyone in our group really enjoyed themselves at Brewlittles. No complaints about the beer, the service, or the atmosphere and will definitely be back if I'm in the area and thirsty for a couple craft beers.

We were last here on a Sunday afternoon in November. The place is dog friendly and during the few hours we were there we saw at least 5-6 dogs come and go. We love dogs so we were in heaven but be advised if dogs aren't your things. Dr. Brewlittle's offers a lot of fun events through the year including open mic nights, jam band sessions, book clubs, and trivia nights. Most importantly, the beer is very good. We have been to almost every brewery in South Jersey and had every style of beer under the sun, and we really like the beer here. There was nothing that blew us away, but all of it is solid and there isn't a miss in the lineup. I like that they brew a special beer only available to their mug club members. It's great that they care about their regulars and the community they are in and want to give back to them. Ample street parking and a parking lot out back.
