We had an appointment nearby and stopped in here for lunch. We were greeted immediately and the menu was explained to us. We split the chicken sandwich which is actually in a pita. The tenders and a very generous side of the cauliflower au gratin. Everything was very tasty. The pita had a bit too much sauce making it very messy and hard to eat. However it was packed with a wonderful combination of flavors. The roast chicken is so good. The tenders were perfectly breaded and fried, served with hot sauce. My absolute favorite ( I honestly will probably dream about this) was the cauliflower. It was so warm And creamy. This is a place I'm glad I found and will definitely be coming back!

Ordered a chicknic sandwich in the pita bread today with a side of sweet potatoes. Had this before. But havent been in over 6 months. The owner Russell was not there today. The food came to the table and the potatoes were cold. Not enjoyable when cold. Took them months counter and the guy didn't understand me. He took them back, waited a few minutes them the cashier came. I explained they were cold. He apologized and said he'll get more. He brought them to the table. Said they were fresh. Also cold. Finished the sandwich which was not how I remember when Russell made it. No orange pieces actually there was 1 piece, a sliver. But I remembered it being so unique. This was very bland. The pita was fresh. Sorry I couldn't give a better review.

I make a phenomenal brined, roasted chicken so haven't had their roasted chook yet, but I was under the weather and too ill to make my own broth. Making bone broth is ridiculously easy. While I do think this one tastes pretty delicious, I think nine dollars for an 8 ounce little cup of soup is much too expensive. It should be closer to five dollars. That's over $1 and ounce. I realize everything has gotten more expensive, but that is insane. Not to self to keep homemade in the freezer. I can make a 1/2 gallon or more for the same price. They should rename the broth liquid gold since it's so spendy.

Quiet little hole in the wall in a strip mall between Bee Cave and Spicewood. The specialty here is roast chicken, but for lunch my wife and I both went with the "chicken sandwich." It's actually more like a hippie shawarma, with (cold) chicken, sprouts, fennel, orange slices, and other salad fixins'... with white sauce and (at cashier's suggestion) hot sauce on the side. Solid lunch, extremely messy, and more than I cared to eat. In retrospect I would have selected the whole roast chicken meal instead, which gets you an entire chicken, two sides, and four popovers for $50. Our 2 sandwiches and a cookie came out to $43 (after tax). No tips accepted here, btw. I think one person does all the work -- takes orders, then goes back into the kitchen to prepare the food. It's not the quickest process, but the guy helping us was plenty friendly. I'd go back.

I was at the UPS store and hungry!

I really wanted to like this place but the chicken is sooo salty it's basically inedible. Not much more to say than that unfortunately.

The League Tavern is a gastropub…read more "Gastropub". That word is so 2010's. A decade ago calling yourself a "gastropub" was the coolest thing in the hospitality industry. Now, it is a lost artifact of another decade, along with Swedish House Mafia and Britney Spears. The League calls itself a retro reminder of the eating clubs of the 1920's and 1930's. It is pretty damm good as a gastropub. It would not really want to be an eating club of the Prohibition era. Menus in that era could be pretty awful. Mashed parsnips. Liver and onions. Greens that have been cooked to death. Tough steaks. Low quality lager beer. The Indian Puddings were all right. The fish was great if it was fresh. I wish they would bring back Welsh Rarebit. But the League sticks to a contemporary menu ... And I am glad they do. Their contemporary dishes are just great. I had a faro salad with grilled shrimp on top. The faro salad was everything I would want a grain salad to be. (I have had some awful tabboulehs and quinoa salads in my time.) The shrimp were completely lovely. Prices are high - but that is what comes with being a gastropub. The concept is: Pay more. Eat higher quality. The Lakeway market will certainly support the League in the prices it wants to charge. The selection on the menu - and for that matter the selection at the bar - is fairly restricted. Having a small menu is not a necessary correlate of being a gastropub. Some gastropubs offer you an expansive range of choices. But careful management of the menu choices means that each and every dish can be polished to a high degree of execution finesse. Practice makes perfect. My guess is that the League envisions itself as a neighborhood place - albeit a rich neighborhood place. Their customers are likely to be regulars. The regulars order their favorite dishes over and over. I myself like my bars and grills to be Cheaper, Funkier and With bigger selections on the menu and at the bar itself. So the League is not exactly my style. But what they do, they do well. They are expanding, opening more branches in more locations. They can do this because the League fills a real need in the Lakeway-Bee Cave market. If a Lakeway resident were to invite me to be their guest at the League Tavern, I would be happy to accept that invitation. Especially if they were picking up the check.

I walked in to the restaurant. It wasn't very busy. I waited not even a minute when a nice women came up to me. She asked if I was picking up an order. I said yes. And said my name, I was trying to get to my text message with my receipt, she already had my bag and was walking back to me. Super quick service. By the time I got home, Urg, traffic on 620, seriously!! The food was warm/hot, so I heated it up for a couple minutes in the toaster oven. The macaroni is actually big shells, and I love that cause the cheese gets inside of the shell and it's cheesy gooey. Cheese was fantastic. Really enjoyed the Mac. Brussels sprouts I feel were just steamed. They didn't have that chard crispy outside. Just plan steamed sprouts. My small meal was delicious. Hoping to actually eat inside and have a cocktail.
