One of them went out of their way to help locate a screw for my partner's glasses and went above and beyond to assist. This was my first visit and opted for a 1 meat plate w/ 2 sides. The half chicken was pretty good; however, the white meat portion was a bit dry. I enjoyed the potato salad (sour cream based), but didn't favor the coleslaw. The second plate we ordered had brisket, mac and cheese and a cornbread pudding dish. Both sides and the brisket were great. This time around I got a Chopped Brisket Loaded Baked Potato which is a Baked Potato with Brisket, Cheese, Bacon, Butter, Scallions, and BBQ Sauce, with Sour Cream on the side. It was really good. I split it with my husband and I still couldn't finish my portion. The baked potato was hot, soft and very filling. The brisket was plentiful, and all the other ingredients added flavor. I also tried the Crispy Pulled Pork Sandwich which comes with pulled pork, onion strings, sauce and dressing, pickles, and cabbage. It was delicious. The pork from this restaurant is so good. The onion strings weren't crispy but they added flavor. The cabbage was fresh and crisp with each bite. All of the ingredients together created a sweet and savory flavor. The surprisingly low star ratings on here. Y'all... this place is SO much better than that! Most often you'll find us here on Sundays for their AYCE Brunch Buffet -- which is hands down one of the BEST brunch values around. Price usually runs $35-$45 depending on if it's a holiday, and it's worth every penny. They always have two smoked meats on the chopping block that rotate every couple of weeks (pro tip: check their website ahead of time to see what's carving that week along with their rotating entrees and sides). We started with the queso, hush puppies and Alabama white sauce wings. The queso and chips were great. The hush puppies were some of the best I've ever had! Loved the wing sauce until I got a wing with feathers still on it and stopped enjoying there. For our meal, we liked the pork ribs and brisket was alright. The Brussels and corn casserole were great picks for sides. The Mac and cheese was good but could have used a little more flavor or salt maybe. We also tried the truck stop enchiladas which were pretty good. The rice it came with however was hard and undercooked. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful! This is more of a PSA than a complete review. This restaurant is next to Pieous, a great place on its own merit. At first glance, I thought it be a typical BBQ experience. Stand in line, order, wait, leave full, and smell like a smoke house. The PSA is for the most ingenious creative culinary BBQ fusion dish I've had. Their Special Brisket Baked Potato Gumbo. Rich and meaty and served with cornbread tasting Ritz crackers makes for a hit especially on a cold day in Austin. Geez. I can't say anymore other than I'm glad I tried it. Equally surprising, I ordered their brisket queso which by all measures is light years in flavor and texture than majority of Tex-Mex restaurants. The chips were fresh, puffy, and crispy again better than the flat bland greasy chips found everywhere else. Load up the queso. The Switch is mostly full service. I ordered the Smoked Bone-In Ham for Thanksgiving Day and since we was there to pick it up decided to order and enjoy a nice lunch. I had planned ordering turkey (for thanksgiving) but their Tuesday special was Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes. I could not resist and ordered it. The staff was super nice and friendly. The plate consisted of two pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuit, side of raspberry sauce, and side of gravy. The chicken was soft on the inside with a superbly tasting crust on the outside. It had great flavor. The biscuit was just as good with a honey glaze on it and the potatoes were perfect. Next time will get the turkey. read more

His wife lent me a Chicken Enchilada from her plate. GF and I ordered the three meat plate; shared our vittles too. Pork ribs, Brisket, and Turkey. Two out of the three slices were amazing. Third was that crusty outside that had sat there a bit. Pork Ribs had good flavor and better than expected tear off the bone. Sauce choices are plentiful. Overall, it's nice to come back and see a different menu direction that was executed properly. Price for the 3 meat plate and two sides was $29. Nearby Salt Lick doesn't offer this exact combination of meats we chose but I will point out SL's AYCE aka Family Style is just a few bucks more. Choose The Switch instead of Driftwood. Craft BBQ is here; SL cuts soooo many corners to feed the masses especially on the Brisket. I'd still say SL has the edge on Pork Ribs. Sides I'm siding with Switch. Came for the brunch and writing a yelp review because that's the only way I can remember my experiences. We came once a yr or 2 ago for brunch and today I remembered why we had stayed away. There are so many better places for ayce. Mandatory 20% tip for 2 adults and 4 children. $35 per person over 12 and $15 for children. Waitress was trying her best to be pleasant but it was obvious she wasn't happy to serve us. Whatever though. Didn't take away from anything. The buffet was set up nicely. Everything was fresh and hot. Most things were overly salty. Eggs benedict was overcooked. The beef on that had great flavor but again, way too salty. Picanha was ok. Etoufee wasn't ettoufee. French toast was mush. Iceburg was completely drenched in dressing. Carrots were ok. Not much veggie options. No pickled sides. I would not recommend the brunch option to families with young children or people who cannot eat spicy food. You will not have a lot of choices, unless eating pastries is your goal. Pancakes weren't the best but can't expect a bbq joint to get what even pancake houses can't get right. Wasn't served with real maple syrup but maple flavored table syrup. Same with the brisket, pork, and ribs. The sad part is I have been here 3x before and it was FREAKING AMAZING which made me think it was a different cook/pit master. The Switch in Dripping Springs is probably a 3.5 star restaurant for me. It has some really good dishes and some that are inconsistent. The service has been good but not excellent, and the mixed drinks have been below par every visit. We have loved their wings in the past and found them to be some of the better wings we've had. Last night we order them again and I couldn't finish the first one because it was so spicy. My husband who loves spicy foods only made it through 3 maybe 4 before he gave up. We asked the waiter if the recipe changed and he commented something about how the peppers in this batch were much hotter than the last ones and lots of people couldn't eat them...that is probably something you should mention when they are ordered- so we don't waste our money and don't feel like we're dying from eating them. We had to stop and get my husband a frozen yogurt on the way home because they were so hot and still burning his mouth and throat. It was like he played the hot wing challenge he was so miserable. Pretty far south, but glad Stile Switch's sister restaurant exists here. Great space for a party or a large group and the food is classic stiles and then some, especially during the holiday season. I came for some of the holiday specials - their fried chicken Tuesdays were pretty good. Super crisp, juicy, crunchy fried chicken with some of that hawg rub on top made for a just greasy enough, succulent bite that rivals some of the better fried chicken Austin has to offer. I'm surprised it's not smoked too, but in any case it's great. Get some taters and gravy with that and you're golden. Comes with a super flaky biscuit too. Add a dab of hot sauce and you're good to go. Also they have during the 12 days of smoked meat, things like a smoked tomahawk steak, which are super fun to eat with a group if a bit pricey. The Switch restaurant, which has been here for a while, is well known for its BBQ, but we just realized they also have an amazing brunch on Sundays! They have everything you can imagine from fruit to eggs to bacon and of course, brisket and ribs made to order! It was truly awesome and the staff was amazing. We tried to "nibble" on each of the different courses but could only get through 2 plates before we were stuffed! I think the switch is a really solid bbq offering. Great Texas BBQ smell inside, I like the decor inside (check out the pics). I thought the BBQ was very good; look it's not at Terry Black's level and I am not going to nit pick, but the brisket tastes great and they do a good job on the crust. Sausage also very good, and the potato salad side is as well...the Mac and cheese is just kinda solid, but not going to rave about it. Service and staff was very friendly. Another great meal at The Switch! In addition to the standard bbq options, they have a lot of other options from gumbo, to enchiladas, to a FANTASTIC French dip. The mild switch sausage was my favorite, super juicy and flavorful! The switch Benedict had a nice BBQ essence and was well proportioned. My only complaint was that the sign clearly asked costumers to adhere to social distancing and wear face masks and several patrons came in and disregarded all of that. It was just irritating because I was 36 weeks pregnant at the time and just wanted to feel somewhat safe and responsible while eating out. read more

If you examine the menu, this central Texas 'cue joint offers a number of Tex-Mex fusion dishes-- and that's what brought me here. I could not resist the idea of dining on brisket enchiladas-- and what a good choice it turned out to be! A good sized plate with three enchiladas, beans and Spanish rice, with a refillable soft drink (Pepsi products),came to $22.13. A sampling of burnt ends completed the meal. Good smoke and a classic central Texas rub combined to give the enchiladas superb flavor. I strongly recommend the dish. The Spanish rice was just that, but the beans were also a welcome step up from the traditional refried concoction. As for the burnt ends ... meat candy! Moist, tender, blessed with great bark and a flavor profile tilted a bit to the peppery side-- this is BBQ heaven. I can't wait to get back and sample more of the Tex-Mex side of the menu. read more

This was really not a great meal. Well, that's generous. It was barely a good meal. We ordered on-line which was super easy. Arrived within 12 minutes and called in to have it delivered curb-side. That was easy! The entire process was straight forward. We then pulled over to a parking lot to eat our tepid food. Ok, tepid was generous. It was room temperature. All of it. Like it was just laying on the counter somewhere to be handed over. Like they believed it would be cold before we got home, so why bother warming it up. That was hugely disappointing. I had the Brisket & Shrimp Po'boy. When the shrimp was more enjoyable than the brisket, you wonder why the main sign outside says BBQ. The brisket was just a cold / room temp of meat with the taste of roast beef. The cold fried shrimp was only mildly more flavorful. Well, the cheese tasted good and the sub was crusty! I opted for the side of sweet corn cassorole. It would have been awesome last night or whenever else this thing was cooked. As it was, it was a cold snowball of scooped casserole that tasted reasonably good. I would love to see this warmer. Perhaps I should have warmed it on my hood. My lunch partner had the Smoked Turkey BLT. I almost went with it! Well, if it's smoked, I didn't taste it. Dehydrated in a gas cooker I could believe. In a pit, not a chance. Again, it may have been an entirely different meal if it was warmed, nuked, heated, or cooked before handed over. Their side dishes were also a little lacking in flavor. The coleslaw wasn't creamy at all. It had a few jalapeño slices that didn't add much. They should go traditional on this one. We revisited The Switch today and it was as if they had cut back on or changed several things. I ordered the two meat plate, I wanted ribs and moist brisket but, they only have serrano flavored ribs? Last time you had a choice of regular or serrano. I personally don't want serrano ribs and my grandkids love ribs but, they can't eat those. So I got the turkey and moist brisket and a link of sausage. My order came and there was one slice of brisket and three very thinly sliced pieces of turkey. That's it?? I couldn't believe that's all I get for the money, it wasn't like that last time? The brisket and turkey were fair at best. Also no boudin and no Live Oak Hefeweizen, plus the server took our order and wasn't seen again until we were finished. This doesn't even resemble the place we first visited. Where do I begin? Let's start with service and operations... my husband and I have gone twice and both times we have waited 15-20 min to then be told they are out of meat. The first time they had turkey and no chicken.. which I'm like okay.. whatever. But this time we waited and they didn't have turkey or shredded chicken that is on half the menu. Heck the waiter had to check to see if they even had chicken.. glad they did, because we would of been SO mad that we wasted 30 min to be told they didn't have meat. We also asked can you take the 1/2 chicken and shred it to add to a sandwich or tacos.. and they said no.. now granted if we hadn't waited a while for a table and or had been informed of the lack of meat options.. we wouldn't of been mad about it. Normally BBQ joints have a chalk sign outside their restaurants and mark off meats as they run out. To think that all people eat brisket and sausage is a horrible fall back. We went at 7pm and didn't get our food until 7:50pm and missed our movie because the lack of food and service was very slow. The waiter was nice, but kept apologizing and trying to say random things to try and get empathy out of us. Granted we smiled the whole time and were not dicks and so it was super weird to us. Now the food: the chicken was good, but just taste like chicken.. the skin has all the spices.. but the chicken wasn't anything to rave about. The potato salad is my favorite.. but for $17.00 a plate- I rather go to Rudy's and know what I am getting.
