Smoked chicken quarters, potato salad, 5-cheese mac and cheese on the afternoon of 1.24.26, prior the freeze
    Ruben C.

Pre-freeze afternoon visit, 1.24.26. Before we decided to visit, I had called to see of they had smoked chicken. The gentleman on the phone said they did but had run out of some of the other meats and had limited quantities of brisked, chopped brisked and smoked chicken. i told him we'd head right over. We got there and 1. were greeted with firendly happy faces, 2. I noticed a small bar area as soon as you enter and 3. even though most people were freaking out about the freeze later this evening, the place was half full which to me, is an indication that this olace must be pretty damn good if it was literally freezing and people were willing to risk it for the brisket. While we waited in line to place our order, I get a callback from the Bloodworth which i though was odd. I answered and it was the gentleman I had spoken to earlier to let me know they were running out of chicken and wanted to know if we wanted him to hild some for us. Ain't that super nice and fantastic customer service??? I told him were already in line and about to place our order. He came out from the back while he still had me on the phone to greet me and we both laughed about it. Super nice guy and turns out he's also the pitmaster. We placed our order for the smoked chicken and also a to go order of brisket to have the following day. We also ordered their 5-cheese mac and cheese and their potato salad. The staff helping us was super helpful and cheery telling us about their menu and how everything is made onsite. Their chicken was moist and tender with a good smokey flavor and well seasoned with sald and pepper. The wife and i split a chicken quarter each and that was more than enough, especially sonce we were also non-stop digging into the tangy, mustard based potato salad and creamy and heavenly mac and cheese. Neither is to be missed! Also, while I'm not generally a fan of bbq sauces, their Gold and Spicy are freaking out of this world. Kudos to the entire staff as they were all incredibly nice, from the two young ladies behind the counter slicing the meats and packing the sides, to the gentleman behind the bar (thanks for asking of I needed another Lonestar) to the pitmaster checking on his customers, it was just such a great, refreshing experience. Glad to have a fantastic option close by to indulge in great tasting smoked meats!

I think we showed up late, and they were out of a lot of items. So yes I took that into account. We had chopped, and just beans. This will be short. The brisket was ok. I mean I wish we could judge the rest of the meats. Chopped is usually what's left of the sliced itself anyway. It's very greasy. Which I expected. The beans although spicy how we like, that's all we tasted. Nothing but spice! A tip, put brisket and the spicy bbq into your beans, man that was great! The bbq sauces were very, umm not bbq at all. The spicy one was not spicy. They seemed a little watered down, but not vinegary. From what we had, I would not drive from San Antonio to try it. We were driving back from Austin for a competition. If we ever drive by early enough, maybe we will stop in. Judging by others reviews it may be worth revisit.

Really well made barbecue! I can even say one of the better sausage and briskets I've had. Unfortunately we stumbled mid day on Sunday where almost everything was sold out. No sides and specialty meats. Even the barbecue pork Belly was sold out which i really wanted to try. It's nice to see traditional Texas barbecue with some non traditional options. The staff here were really nice and fast with the order. The prices are really good for the level of barbecue. I'll definitely be back at this barbecue joint if I am around. How many times am I allowed to write barbecue here?

Pretty solid BBQ! We went there at a bad time: right after the rush and sounds like they were attached by cicadas as there was only brisket and 2 kinds of sausage left. No sides either. We got brisket and jalapeño sausage and everything was really nicely cooked and delicious! The staff was very nice and friendly as well! There are plenty of outdoors and indoors seating, we went outside as it was a pretty nice day.

    A lot of meat!

I decided to get up early on a Sunday morning to check out Bloodworth BBQ. I drove from San Antonio to Kyle. When I got there there was no line. I was the first customer and I got there a little after 11am. The employees were very nice and friendly. I ordered a half a pound of brisket, pulled pork and pork ribs. I also got a link of sausage. I decided to get a side of their mac and cheese. The brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs and sausage were good not great. All the meat was tender and had good flavor. The 5 cheese mac and cheese was very good and creamy. They aren't on the level of a top tier Texas bbq spot in my opinion. They do have potential. I only paid $51 for everything including a Topo Chico and tax. That is a lot of food for that price I my opinion. The place is small inside and they played country music the whole time. I'm glad that I tried them, but I would make a special trip just for their bbq in the future. If I'm in the area, would consider making a stop. You should stop by if you're going to be near Kyle,Tx if you're in the mood for good bbq.

A small, unassuming spot that you could easily drive by and never recognize that they're pushing out some amazing bbq! We came by a bit after 11AM on a Sunday and honestly thought they were closed but once we walked towards it, could smell the smoke and meats, which is always a good sign. We happened to be the first customers of the day, which meant we got to be first to choose a dino rib (Sunday special). We got the smallest one available along with some moist brisket and potato salad. Staff were extremely kind and welcoming and friendly! They let us try their bbq sauces and were patient with us as first timers. Foodwise, the brisket was super moist and flavorful throughout. It had a nice smokiness and the meat flavor really shines. The bbq sauces also went very well with the brisket (gold for a more mustard, tangy sauce and the spicy for a more Texas style sauce). The dino rib was my favorite, super tender, moist, fall of the bone. Again, for such a large hunk of meat, the flavor penetrated through. The bark on it was packed with flavor and cause we got the end piece, we had the equivalent of burnt ends and that also still held up well. This is what I think of when I think of Texas bbq and it still makes me sad I haven't found a spot closer to me. I think the unassuming nature and super friendly staff make Bloodworth worth the drive. They definitely seem to be a local favorite but price and quality, I think they could move on up!

We stopped by Bloodworth barbecue right when it opened at 11 on Saturday. It was a beautiful day to sit outdoors and enjoy a bbq lunch. We ordered their combo sausage and brisket sandwich. You can choose whether you want the brisket chopped or sliced. We went with sliced and had no regrets. The sandwich was delicious and perfect for the two of us to split. I also really enjoyed their barbecue sauce. The staff were really kind and they had the food out in no time at all. We'll definitely be back!

Got a picture before devouring this feast. Brisket, macaroni & cheese, pasta salad, tangy bbq sauce; and turkey(plated at home).

DELICIOUS! Wish we would have given this place a try months ago! The brisket had a nice bark on it and was so tender and full of flavor, some of the best brisket I've had in the ten years since moving to central Texas. The turkey was also moist and full of flavor. We will get more of it next time. Also next time, one of those Dino ribs are making it into the order. After talking with the owner, almost added it to my "to go" order on Sunday. The owners are very friendly and personable. I enjoyed speaking with them. We got the pasta salad and the macaroni & cheese for our sides, both delightful. We have decided to make a monthly pilgrimage here and hope to get there before the pulled pork sells out.

Pork Belly, Sausage, Brisket and Mac n Cheese

Unplanned trip for lunch while on a mini road trip. Hubby craving bbq and found Bloodworth BBQ. Everything was delicious, but I will travel for the Pork Belly alone!

1/2 pound brisket , 5 cheese mac n cheese and charro beans with some of there spicy bbq sauce and some condiments
    Jorge V.

I stopped in today finally I've been wanting to try this place as it's right down the road from me I tried the brisket , 5 mac 'n' cheese and charro beans and let me tell you, it was a great meal that hit all the spots! The mac n cheese was pure comfort food heaven. The macaroni was cooked just right--tender but not mushy--and coated in a creamy, cheesy sauce that had a perfect balance of richness and tang. I will get it again it's so good The star, though, was the brisket. It was smoky, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and chopped into generous chunks that added a deep, savory barbecue vibe to every bite. Not to much smoke or barq but enough to make it great. I grabbed their spicy bbq sauce and it had a nice kick to it. The charro beans not bad but seemed to be lacking the extras that make them charro beans. Overall, this combo was a home run for me. I believe right now this is the bbq spot to go to for Kyle .I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

I finally got to try their famous pork ribs that are usually sold out--and now I know why. They were tender, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. I also love that it's a family-run spot, owned by a husband-and-wife team who clearly put their heart and soul into it all. If you're a BBQ lover, this place is a must-visit.

Finally got the chance to stop at Bloodworth. I'm glad to have a solid local BBQ place! The meats were very good. The potato salad was great. The Mac and cheese could use some work. It has a good smoky flavor but the texture is a bit grainy and not as creamy as I would like. Service was so fast and super friendly, and welcoming. The food came out in minutes. We also got there before a line formed so we got lucky. We brought it home and enjoyed! The tables outside are nice and plentiful for the space and the coverings help shield from the sun. It was a nice atmosphere to enjoy the food if you want to. Will be happily going back to Bloodworth regularly!

Dino rib came out the bone when u picked it up.

Amazing BBQ! The first time I came here I had pulled pork and short ribs it was so good. I came back on a Sunday and had the Dino ribs and it was so good. Get here early because the food goes fast. I had to make 3 tips just to get Mac and cheese. And don't forget the banana putting is amazing!

Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and happy to answer the questions we had about the menu. I ordered the Chicken Florentine Pasta, which came with a choice of soup or salad. They didn't have honey mustard dressing , so I decided to try the soup instead--and I'm really glad I did. It was absolutely delicious. It had so much flavor with just the right amount of heat, and honestly, it was one of the best surprises of the meal. And honestly, if it had been, the only thing I had had for my dinner, I would've been completely satisfied. The rest of the table ordered the Pesto Perfecto with Canadian bacon, chicken tenders and fries, and a kids' pepperoni pizza. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Alfredo sauce on my pasta tasted homemade, and the pasta portion was generous. There wasn't a lot of chicken in the dish, but I've noticed that seems to be pretty common lately when eating out. Even so, the pasta itself was flavorful and very satisfying. The bread that came with my meal wasn't my favorite--it was dense and chewy. But I tried a bite of my son's pepperoni pizza and would absolutely come back just for that. The crust was light and crispy, and it had a generous amount of cheese and pepperoni. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was great, and we'll definitely be back.

I just did t really like the flavors of the marinara sauce, or meat sauce. Or meat balls. But everything was technically cooked correctly. The pasta I had itself. Literally the pasta was cooked quite well. And the ranch dressing I had with the fried mushrooms is obviously not from a jar and flavorful. Side salad (In this case a Caesar) add on for an entree is extremely overpriced however. Very small salad for $3.50 is not a great look. However, simply because I didn't like something doesn't mean you won't.

Seating wasn't difficult, and it was well ventilated, which was highly favorable and much appreciated in the heat with missing fans, running constantly, cute ambience, lighting with the small bulb lights, and even bug spray available they make sure that this dining experience was covered on all bases so that you would have a great one. The menus are easily accessible, with multiple copies, being passed down the line, and sitting in the stand as soon as you walk up. However, after hearing about the restaurant online, and taking some time to read the menu prior to arrival, I knew what was on my mind - carbonara. From arrival to ordering with maybe about a 30 to 40 minute wait however, it was worthwhile. The dishes are made to order, with fresh pasta being used, making it even better. We opted for two half orders to share, and that was definitely enough food because we ended up even taking leftovers. We also got an order of the garlic bread with tons of roasted garlic, parmesan, and green onions. While the carbonara was flavorful and what my mind was initially set on, the other pasta actually ended up stealing the show and was what we finished immediately the Leopold had a pesto base and a nice hint of spice even without the peppers (which were taken off in our order). Overall, the most difficult part of this meal was parking, and the fight was completely forgotten after my first taste.
