We were walking around downtown Spokane and got an urge to eat. I of course Yelped and found this place and the chicken sounded awesome. I ordered a 2 piece chicken with a breast and a thigh with a side of baked beans. My wife had the catfish with the jambalaya. We also ordered the sweet potato puffs. The chicken was very moist and flavorful and the breading was crispy but light at the same time. The baked beans and the sweet potato puffs were excellent with abundant flavor. The catfish was light, flaky and full of flavor. The jambalaya was some of the best that I have had and recommend it. The food was everything that I would expect and more. I would have given this a 5 but the exception here was the wait. It was cooked fresh which explains some of the wait but the couple behind us got their food first which was a bit frustrating. The area is not great and the ambiance in the restaurant is a bit lacking but with some charm. I recommend for the food. read more

The ladies at this family owned establishment were so nice and welcoming. They took the time to talk to us about the menu and how long they have been in business. We ordered the fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and baked beans, a catfish sandwich and a small side of red beans and rice. Everything was very flavorful and the portions were generous. After getting a bad tip for a bbq/soul food place that turned out to be a man selling bbq sauce out of a strip mall office (and dealing cars as well) we tried Chicken n Mo. The owner was really hospitable and welcoming. I actually wasn't crazy about the catfish, the breading was harder than I like and my friend said she tasted s little dirt. I wanted to give this place more stars, but there's a glaring problem. The ribs. Do not order the ribs. The service is fantastic, the rest of the food just amazing. The red beans and rice, the gumbo, the fried chicken. It is all just out of this world. Why they serve crummy ribs is beyond me. I lived in Kansas and I work for a Texas company. I have spent months on job sites on the wrong side of Chicago. I can spot a bad rib a mile off, and this was one of them. But seriously, lets not get down too much. The chicken was just amazing. Really my only big complaint is over priced for size. A leg, and thigh and 2 sides (1 smaller than the other) of thier size should be 7-8 bucks. Even that seems a bit steep. BBQ sauce had spicy kick, no warning about it. Very small inside, divey'. A bit charming, and I'd say friendly staff. Chicken is pretty good though. Small store front with a good amount of seating for the size of the place. As soon as I set foot into the store I was greeted. The girls were so nice and she even made the best recommendations. Cooked to order so orders can take some time, but it is well worth the wait. I got the chicken and rib combo, gumbo, and wedges. Wedges were seasoned and gumbo was like a meal itself. My first bite was the ribs and I was definitely mind blown. Bbq sauce was spicy and the rib fell off the bone. It was sooooo good. Then I went for the fried chicken and it was even better! The chicken is juicy and the batter is not thick and over fried. The girls told me that the breast that came with the combo was kinda small so they gave me an extra drum. I appreciate that type of customer service, makes my business feel valued. This was my first meal coming into Spokane and it really left an impression. Awesome! read more

So I did a delivery through grub hub two nights in a row the chicken is amazing shockingly good being delivery. But they messed up the order for getting soda I ordered them next night I got two things of beans and I marked coleslaw and beans. They also did not include utensils either time as I did mark it. You heard it here folks...hands-down. Chicken-N-More is the BEST fried chicken in Washington State, and yes even better than Seattle's beloved Ezell's and Kingfish Cafe. You know after moving to Seattle there are very few reasons why I would actually WANT to visit Spokane, but Chicken-N-More is one of them. The environment is quite cozy with all sorts of license plates all over the wall from everywhere. Including one from Guam that must have been from like the 70s, because I've never seen that on when I grew up there. Service is fast and friendly, there is actually clean and ample seating (unlike most other fried chicken joints that are not your typical KFC, Popeyes, and Church's), and pricing is very fair. There is also plenty of hot sauce and a gigantic roll of paper towels at each table, along with wet naps (it's nice when you don't have to ask). Anyway let's get on with it... The Chicken: Crispy, Huge, Plump, Juicy, Tasty, yet not greasy. You cannot go to Chicken-N-More without leaving with a gigantic case of Food Coma. Okay no fried chicken is worth driving 4 hours out of your way for. But if you're ever going to Spokane, passing it by, currently live there, or hell just within 10 minutes of it for some reason. I don't want to throw off your expectations with my 5 star review. Be prepared for a straight up dive. Be prepared for bad service. BUT....be ready for some unbelievably good fried chicken. Not even the parade of hobos coming in and out of the dive could distract me from my crispy, spicy, delicious fried chicken. Seriously good chicken. I wasn't scared at any point. While the place is small and in an older building , it is fine inside. The folks working here could not be better! Just a warning though if ordering that chicken. It takes 15+ minutes to get ready. I was in Spokane on business so I ate here two days in row and had a decent experience overall. They have tasty chicken but make sure it's hot. Day 1: Around 2p-ish, not many people were there (lunch crowd was gone) and my chicken was lukewarm. I was disappointed in eating room temperature chicken. It was about a 2.5 star experience. Coating was good in some spots but salty in some spots. The sides were just okay...edible. Day 2: Service was HORRIBLE during lunch hour. The ladies behind the counter were were SUPER FRIENDLY, I say service was horrible because I waited so long to eat and people who just walked in, didn't call in orders were served before me and they ordered the same thing as me! I noted they were regulars and known by name. I placed my order at 11:52a, I didn't get chicken until 12:23p. I wouldn't have cared if it wasn't my lunch hour and I needed to return to my meeting. The chicken was banging on day 2, it was really good. It was not the best I ever had but a much more pleasant experience once I had it hot. I loooooove collards but it needed some hot sauce for some salt level and vinegar flavor. I like the gravy on the mashed potatoes but not the actual potatoes, nor the roll. Last thing to be prepared for....Seating was LIMITED so I sat across from a complete stranger, and we both seemed okay it. I was raised on southern cuisine and there are small nuances that miss the mark for me. For example, if you had a southern meal at someone's house, the roll that they serve here would not be on your plate. Cornbread is typically paired with collards, green beans and gumbo at the many households I've visited, including my own. Apple cider vinegar put on the tables, especially for the elders. This is common in soul food eateries too. Those are small southern touches that mean a lot to us. Not trying to be mean or complain but if you are southern raised, then you'll notice these things. Just my two cents, but overall, this place is worth a visit if you're local or visiting, I'd go back if I were in town. read more

When I first opened the takeout box I actually thought the drum was a good sized wing. . . until I saw the little flapper hiding beneath the breast. I started with the wing and was a bit disappointed at first because for the price I was expecting top quality and not what looked like a Bantam chicken wing. The drumstick was not much better than the wing in regards to its size but the sauce was surprisingly delicious. I would go back and order the wings with double dipping sauce just for the amazing flavor which I'm assuming is a house made sauce. The breast is what made this a 4 star and not a 3 star review. Unlike the two previous pieces, the breast was nice and plump and extra juicy. It definitely made up for the disappointment of the others. Awesomely crispy, salty skin covering perfectly moist chicken. Perfect, simple execution. We had walked in around 7:30, not knowing the closed at 8. OK this place is a total hole in the wall in downtown Spokane. The outside may look a little sketchy but do not let that deter you from going inside. The interior is older and it is pretty small inside with about 6 or so booths and a couple tables and it is full of character. The waitress/cook that helped us was super friendly and gave recommendations on what she thought was good. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw and it was DELISH and it was a decent size so ended up being pretty stuffed with that alone. I did get a small bite of the friend chicken and brisket which were also super tasty and will probably end up getting that on my next visit to Chicken N More. Overall, if you are looking for some good BBQ or fried chicken look no more this is the place to go. read more

We went to this amazing gem while we were visiting from Denver. My cousin highly recommend it and in did NOT disappoint! The staff were very friendly and efficient, and the menu is very reasonably priced. The food...THE FOOD!!! The chicken was incredible, well seasoned and was juicy, tender, not greasy at all. I had the baked beans, which have a great flavor with a perfect hint of vinegar. I am a notorious baked beans snob and other than my own, these were the best I've ever had. The red beans are rice were also incredible, again perfectly seasoned and very flavorful. My wife had the ribs, which were tender but not mushy, the sauce was not too sweet either, so I would also recommend them. Finally we split a peach cobbler with ice cream, it's a religious experience that shouldn't be missed. There aren't a lot of frills, roll of paper towels on each table, soda by the can,etc. But I really think that adds to its charm and character. As well as a huge baseball fan, all the baseball pictures of a lot of the African American early pioneers, like Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige, and Roy Campanella, I absolutely love and is another feather in this restaurant's cap. This place did not live up to the hype. I got a catfish sandwich, okra and collards. The catfish was bland and needed more seasoning in the fry batter and the okra was like eating blobs of oil and had no crispness to them at all. The collards were pretty good and made me feel better about myself after spending the amount that i did to get what I got.
