(Which another shop in Spokane refused to do) The single scoop was a fairly large scoop. The house made waffle cone was also incredibly delicious! (As a side note to other reviews: we did NOT get any sauces on top of our delicious ice cream, it would have definitely ruined the quality flavor!) The service was great, the gentleman who served us; was friendly and knowledgable about ice cream and explained the process and Doyle's wonderfully. The ambiance of Doyle's is a classic old ice cream shop with lots of classic decorations all over the place. They have 1950's and older, Coca-Cola signs, collectable toys and figurines and Star Wars Toys all over the walls. Oh, they have a very nice little patio on the backside of the store! This was our first visit to Doyle's. My husband got a single scoop of mint chip ice cream. Originally, I was going to get a banana split but they were out of bananas. I decided to get a triple scoop: chocolate thunder, mint chip, strawberry ice cream. I was able to add 3 different toppings, whip cream and/or nuts. I got strawberry, chocolate and fudge. I thought strawberry, was fresh fruit strawberries. I thought the chocolate was chocolate chips. There is a little patio area, with tables and chairs behind the parlor. I was super disappointed by the ice cream I received. The sauces were overwhelming, disproportionate to the ice cream. The sauces were way too sweet. I couldn't even taste the ice cream. The ice cream was fair, not rich and creamy. I didn't finish even half the ice cream, not worth the sugar high and dry mouth. My husband said the ice cream was the same quality as the store's... but more expensive.

I could tell there was still plenty of time to get a scoop before 8PM. At 7:43 PM, one of the workers came out from behind the counter and told about 10-15 of us in line that we would have to leave because they close at 8. She was very kind about it, and she kept saying "I hate having to do this," but it made absolutely no sense. She arbitrarily split the line, and decided some people could stay, but said the rest of us (5 girls ahead of us, and 7-8 people behind us) had to go. Mind you, the girls in front of us and our group were ALREADY IN THE SHOP. Everyone looked really confused, understandably. I've literally never had this happen to me before. I held up my phone to show the worker the time, and I said, "Its only 7:43. We have 17 minutes before closing." Others said, "but we're already in the shop" or "but we've been waiting in line for a while." None of this made any difference. We all still had to leave. Even though there was plenty of time to get everyone ice cream. And god-forbid they have to keep working until 8:05 or 8:10 to make sure patrons who waited in line could get ice cream. What kind of shop does this?? How is this acceptable? "Bad customer service" puts it mildly. I could spell out a million other better ways this could have been done. Do better, Scoop. Spokane already struggles in the ice-cream shop department. Please be a part of the solution, not the problem.

Marshmallow and lemon anything are some of my favorite flavors and couldn't wait to try them. It was my first time at this spacious location and was greeted when I walked in. I told her I was there to try the new flavors and got a scoop of each. I chose not to have mix-ins because I wanted to truly try the flavors by themselves without mix-ins influences. The strawberry marshmallow was yum! Definitely marshmallow-like and the strawberry gave it a great flavor profile. The lemon cake batter was lemony, tart but not sour, and it really did feel like I was eating cake batter. I would get these flavors again. It had a couple long freezers of ice cream as well as a decorated case. The young guy who helped us was nice and gave good service. I got a double scoop in a cup of Cherry Garcia and Berry Berry Extraordinary. Cherry Garcia is what you expect it to be if you're familiar with Ben & Jerry's and Berry Berry Extraordinary was new to me and had to try it. It was a pretty tasty sorbet. My friend got a strawberry limeade smoothie. He said all he tasted was tart and limeade. He didn't taste any strawberry, which I agree because I tasted it and it definitely lacked strawberries. The decorated case was full and looked pretty good, but we didn't get anything from it. My 3 gripes are: 1) my double scoop looked like a junior scoop at best, 2) it was $16 bucks and it was a lack of value and quality regarding the smoothie, and 3) they had all the flavors you're familiar with but sorely lacked any fruity type offerings. Unfortunately I get a better value buying a pint at the grocery store that's cheaper and gives more than 2 scoops.
