We absolutely loved Doyle's. We loved the quality of the ingredients and the ice cream. We had the toasted coconut which was amazing, the butter brickle excellent and the chocolate flavors, all were delicious! They even let us do half and half in our single scoop serving! (Which another shop in Spokane refused to do) The single scoop was a fairly large scoop. The house made waffle cone was also incredibly delicious! (As a side note to other reviews: we did NOT get any sauces on top of our delicious ice cream, it would have definitely ruined the quality flavor!) The service was great, the gentleman who served us; was friendly and knowledgable about ice cream and explained the process and Doyle's wonderfully. The ambiance of Doyle's is a classic old ice cream shop with lots of classic decorations all over the place. They have 1950's and older, Coca-Cola signs, collectable toys and figurines and Star Wars Toys all over the walls. Oh, they have a very nice little patio on the backside of the store! We had a great experience and recommend Doyle's Ice Cream! read more

Doyle's has that retro ice cream parlor vibes, quaint and lots of character. There are lots of wall decor and collectibles. The gentleman serving us, was friendly and helpful. This was our first visit to Doyle's. My husband got a single scoop of mint chip ice cream. Originally, I was going to get a banana split but they were out of bananas. I decided to get a triple scoop: chocolate thunder, mint chip, strawberry ice cream. I was able to add 3 different toppings, whip cream and/or nuts. I got strawberry, chocolate and fudge. I thought strawberry, was fresh fruit strawberries. I thought the chocolate was chocolate chips. There is a little patio area, with tables and chairs behind the parlor. I was super disappointed by the ice cream I received. The sauces were overwhelming, disproportionate to the ice cream. The sauces were way too sweet. I couldn't even taste the ice cream. The ice cream was fair, not rich and creamy. I didn't finish even half the ice cream, not worth the sugar high and dry mouth. My husband said the ice cream was the same quality as the store's... but more expensive. read more

I so badly wanted to love this place, but I ended up being shockingly disappointed. I sampled the butter brickle, which was so outrageously sweet that I couldn't stand it. So I went with a single scoop of chocolate on a waffle cone. I thought, "You can't go wrong with chocolate." Well, I was wrong. The chocolate ice cream was completely devoid of the taste of chocolate. Then I thought, "This house made cone is going to be epic." It was awful--stale and tasty strongly of cinnamon, which was just odd. The man who served us was friendly and upbeat, and the old toys made for a fun atmosphere. read more

Heard about this iconic place from many people of the Spokane area saying I had to go give it a try and how good it is. Well it lives up to the hype, meet the owner and his father wonderful, friendly human beings. Enjoyed talking to them, learning about their history and that they take the time to make real tasty ice cream flavors and their own waffle cones! Delicious, really people get on down and get a taste of ice cream heaven! Some many great flavors that sell out fast. Original historical atmosphere and the patio is great to enjoy your butter prickle and conversation with friends. Thanks guys will be back again and again. read more

Doyle's Ice Cream Parlor - single split waffle cone (cookies and cream and cookie dough) - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Spokane, Washington

I live two blocks from Doyle's and let me tell you I have a struggle with myself every day I drive past the shop. Luckily I have strong willpower otherwise I would have their banana split for dinner every night. There is often a line out the door but their home made ice creams are worth the wait and (weight). Doyle's is a very small corner store in the West Central neighborhood. Check it out it's a Spokane historic landmark. read more

Somehow I missed Doyles for years after moving here...it would be closed whrn I drove by, I forgot about it, etc. I discovered Doyles for real about a year ago and have gone many times. The guy who runs it/serves is kind and friendly and the icre cream is wonderful. I am so happy we have a place like Doyles in our community! read more

When we arrived my wife was advocating to go somewhere else. The exterior of Doyle's looked a little old, but based on the Yelp reviews we decided to give it a shot anyway. After a few samples our group ordered butter brickle, Carmel apple, cookies & cream, and a fruit flavor (sorry, forgot the name). They were all amazing! The Butter brickle was crowned the best we've ever had, ever. And the Carmel apple was absolutely delicious. It was by far my favorite. Each flavor I tried was ultra creamy. By the end my wife declared this was her favorite ice cream shop. We're from out of town but from now on I imagine we'll be stopping at Doyle's on each trip through the area! read more

About as old school as it gets. No frills, no seating, limited flavors, but what they do they do well. Really creamy, fresh ice cream and house made waffle cones you smell when you walk in. I had the caramel apple which was unique tasting with a great sour apple flavor. Very unique and great flavor. Interesting as it's in a very residential area, it just pops up on the corner, but worth the trip. read more

This place is a hidden gem! It's hard to come across classic ice cream parlors like these anymore. This place has been here since 1939! They have many unique ice cream flavors such a root beer float flavor, candy corn, and pumpkin cheesecake! I like how they have seasonal flavors that they switch up throughout the year! All of the ice cream is homemade and it's very creamy! The proportions were HUGE! They also offer nice outdoor seating to enjoy your ice cream. Chris, the owner, was very kind and helpful! Thank you Doyle's! read more

Holy smokes this ice cream is over the top amazing!!!! I had never had butter brickle ice cream and mistakenly thought it was an old person's flavor, I was totally wrong. I'm longtime fan of Doyle's. This is old school Spokane. Today I dropped in and had a Mexican chocolate shake. That's the best shake I've had in.... maybe ever. So good. A sublet but unique twist to your chocolate experience. So good. FYI, their black licorice ice cream is the bomb dot com. Even if you don't like black, licorice, this will make you a believer. There's very few of these types of places left in America! The ambiance is great, the toys are epic, and the antiques and honegrown nature of it bring back one's childhood nostalgia. All this being said, the exterior and the interior could use a little bit of remodeling. The menu could also be more organized. However, the customer service is great, and I like how they're maintaining the old-fashioned nature of something that's probably more than 70 years' old. The ice cream is not near as sugary as a lot of places you're used to. It's also not as creamy. However, I particularly enjoyed the maple nut. Their homemade banana was also pretty good. I personally like the fact that it wasn't as creamy and sugary. read more

For years I have been saying I was going to stop and try this place. I finally made it! The shop could use a bit of updating and made to look a bit "fresher", but the owner was nice and the ice cream was GOOD! I think with a bit of marketing and a bit of a facelift....this could go back to being the popular spot it used to be. Kendal Yards may be a ways down the road...but people would definitely stop by if they saw a few upgrades. The "bowls" were really cheap paper and everything looked a bit rundown. I hope the owner can keep making it work now that he took over for his uncle. The ice cream treats are definitely good...so I hope people will help this owner build his business to success! https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g58759-d7039474-r607499599-Doyle_s_Ice_Cream_Parlor-Spokane_Washington.html# read more

So, I live a few blocks away from Doyles and had watched it for many months closed during the pandemic etc. Now with that mostly under control and the arrival of summer, they have expanded their hours. So I ent in and discovered they had a flavor from my childhood in the Midwest called "Butter Brickle". OMG, I had not eaten that since I was 10 or 12 years old. It was fabulous, so fabulous I had to go back and get more that evening. Service is outstanding as well. This place is a treasure in Spokane, I highly recommend it! read more

Had the Mexican chocolate ice cream which was so good. Will be coming back soon to try other flavors.

You can't put a price on nostalgia. Our family loves going to Doyle's Ice Cream Parlor because it allows us a chance to step back in time. My husband grew up going there and we enjoy introducing our kids to this delightful corner store. Because of Doyle's size and the amount of its typical transaction, it doesn't take credit cards or checks. Doyle's is also open only a few months a year. They have no phone number. Check its Facebook page for hours of operation. They're really good about keeping it updated. Doyle's makes old fashioned ice cream in kid friendly flavors like bubblegum and black licorice (my favorite), and nostalgic flavors like maple walnut and rum raisin. But they churn in small batches every week, so flavors do run out and are rotated. Scoops are large and milkshakes are generous. They also serve up sodas, floats and sundaes. Doyle's has a vintage soda fountain and is home to a large collection of vintage toys and Spokane memorabilia. Our family loves Doyle's Ice Cream and hope it never changes. read more

I have been going to Doyle's since I was a young man and they are fantastic. The ice cream is delicious, the service is great, and the display cases full of antique toys delight both myself and my kids. It is true they don't take credit cards, but for a small neighborhood business it makes perfect sense. The highway robbery committed by credit card companies make it difficult for a small business to use their services. If you want an old fashioned trip to the ice cream parlor, don't miss out on Doyles! read more

I've got to be honest, I was taken to and past Doyle's multiple times, and I still couldn't tell you how to get there. From the outside, it looks like someone took an old house and repurposed it to sell ice cream. Since we arrived to visit our family, all we heard was, "Doyle's! We need to go to Doyle's! I want some Doyle's!" This was not coming from a small child. Upon setting foot in Doyle's, the first thing that stands out is the collection of toys in the front. The three or four display cases span a century. The space age is a particular highlight. But, this review isn't about a toy museum. We lined up to get our cones. Everything at Doyle's is handmade, with the cone makers currently in use to prove it. Mint chocolate chip, two watermelon and Reese's. It was all good stuff. Doyle's is cash only, so be prepared. Doyle's is a summertime essential. Just needs a card reader. read more
