We stopped in to Emma Rue's as we had to wait for seating at People's Waffle (they're connected). The menus are via QR code which I like - paperless is pretty great. Ordering coffee could have been better, it seems like they only have one barista who is also the one taking orders so you had to stand there for a few minutes before placing your order and there isn't really an area to wait in for your drink so you kind of stand there awkwardly. The barista eventually did ask for help but I had to repeat my order a few times to them as they didn't know what was going on, maybe they were new. The drinks are quite small for the price but they taste great. read more

Been here a couple of times for coffee and once for drinks. I have been impressed each time. Coffee has been spot on! Especially if you get tired of the sweet/sugary stuff that is served elsewhere. Excellent macchiatos, flat whites etc. Plenty of other coffee drinks as well. Service was friendly. Stopped by for a drink after work and service was excellent again. Drinks are well made. I absolutely love the concept of late night drinks and desserts so I'm hoping to get there for some after dinner delights soon. This time we had some breakfast drinks to go with our waffles. I had the elderberry grapefruit mimosa and my husband had the espresso old fashioned. The OF was a bit too intense for both of us at that hour of the day, but the mimosa was unique and refreshing. I had some of the most disrespectful and back handed customer service I have ever received in my life from one of the bartenders here. Although, our orders were taken in an appropriate manner, our drinks were lacking the normal garnishes and proper treatment that I normally receive here. Our drinks were quite delicious and tasty and there was no delay in our orders other than that. I usually don't write reviews but we went on 10/15 around 5pm and the service was AWFUL. The girl working unenthusiastic, took a while to acknowledge us and took 20+ Minutes to give a us a menu then we ended up grabbing one from a dirty table. She had people asking her for water cups at one point which was self serve and took so long to even hand them a clean glass. When asked what we wanted we ended up leaving because they were out of the dessert we wanted and didn't think we would be served in the next hour if we stayed and ordered. honestly terrible do not recommend. Maybe that was a one time thing I'm not sure. The chocolate muse cake was so rich I mean it really was thick and delicious. Wow! I got to enjoy a full body cup of coffee while waiting for a table next door at People's Waffle. The ambiance is comfortable for any type of seating you're looking for. Asked barista for coffee to go, but got a mug. Reminded her politely that I'd requested to go. She proceeded to sloppily dump my coffee into cup, spilling it down sides and turning a 12 oz drink into a 10oz one. (messy, would drip after I picked it up). Asked her for another cup, got the "whatever look" and was handed a new cup. Neither was offered with a lid. So I asked for a lid, and was pointed to the self serve bar. No lids that matched the cup. Back to barista, asked if they had lids that fit the cup. Said she didn't know, and I could try one of the ones directly in front of her. This place is really cool. Has a great vibe for meeting up or working remotely. My latte was really good, I didn't try any of the baked goods but they looked amazing. Stopped in for a nightcap because we saw an ad on Instagram and the place looked cool. We were greeted with "sit anywhere and we'll come to you"; from there everything was downhill. The proprietor spent about 15 minutes with the table right next to us, extolling the virtues and history of the French 75 while we sat empty handed. I finally went up to the bar and ordered two Smoked Apple Old Fashioned cocktails. When the bartender brought the drinks to our table, neither matched the other; one was light colored and the other was dark. Very poorly made cocktails that tasted nothing like the ingredients noted on the menu. As we were choking down our drinks the bartender brought us another drink and attempted to explain that because he believed I had a "palatable pallet" he'd like to offer me/us a taste of another cocktail in an effort to stretch my pallet and to elicit feedback. It was the oddest of interactions, as the bartender could barely communicate what it was he was attempting to do. He topped things off by asking my name and then naming the mystery drink a Noble (insert my name here)! Needless to say, the mystery cocktail was not good either. Our drinks were so bad, we never finished them and I had to (once again) get up and go to the bar to pay our tab. As I was waiting for someone to acknowledge my existence, I was "entertained" by the most inept display of bartender flair I've ever seen in my life. Slamming of shakers so loudly that it sounded like a livery stable in full production mode, the spilling of drinks while shaking them over the shoulder, tap tapping of strainers to strain drinks that needed no straining, and some sort of funky air Tai Chi movements complete with spins and pointing at the mixing vessel like it was actually adding to the mixing experience. Two ladies sitting right in front of the bartender actually turned to me and laughed out loud. It was almost as if I was on one of those hidden camera TV shows. It was at this point, I knew we would never visit Emma Rue's again. If you do happen into Emma Rue's, you may also want to avoid the bathrooms as they were barely up to rest area standards. read more
