Our drinks were always full and she answered all our questions. She brought me beer samples to figure out which one I wanted. The waiter was busy but always greeted and said goodbye to all guests coming and going. Food 10/10 For the tablet we got calamari, the Durkins famous double cheeseburger and the fried bologna sandwich. The food was extremely fresh! The cheese was melted to perfection. We left with full bellies but not feeling heavy. The food was decadent but not greasy. My husband got a mocktail, spiced cranberry and it was fabulous! My husband and I can't wait to go back. Bartender Blaine refused service to my fiance because she had an out of state ID and poked fun at her for it. Said that "every bar does that" while we moved to a bar down the street (Cease and Desist) and they accepted her ID. Got to enjoy the salad but was cut sort by the terrible service. The menu chosen for the restaurant week is a good choice of things to try that are satisfying to the palate and getting to the 3rd course you will not be upset choosing the peanut butter pie, especially if you like peanut butter and chocolate. The tres leche cake is also good but kinda dry to most tres leche I have had but it's still good. The service here is prompt and accommodating. The restaurant is a low light setting so it might be easy to eat get full and fall asleep all in one setting. I highly recommend you give Durkins a try during this restaurant week. read more

We came to try to beat burger in Spokane. I love the interior decor, it was very cozy. We started with the calamari , which was the best calamari we've ever had. They were made with pacific squid, and there was plenty of them in the dish. We love the fresh dill and parsley. There was just enough sauce to flavor the calamari. The Calabrian chilis were a nice little kick to the dish. We both ordered the burger along side with our beers, an amber ale, cream ale and the hazelnut . The beers were delicious. The burgers were spectacular. The homemade pickles added a nice crunch to the burger, the patties were tender and meaty. The cheese was very creamy. Exactly what I wanted in a cheeseburger. The server was kind and accommodating to all our sauce requests. I have tried Durkins during restaurant week and the food was delicious, and I'm glad we got to try them again. read more

I was informed by several people that this place was notorious for its burger. So when I came to Spokane for work, I decided to go ahead and give this place a try. Upon my encounter with one of the bartenders, I was told that they only had one burger. It was a double burger and it came with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and a delicious pickle. The burger was spot-on and much better than I had anticipated. It was fairly large and filling and was cooked nicely. It came with some fries and a dipping sauce that always was a good adjunct to the burger. Burger came it to ~$25.00 which is expensive for a burger, but given inflation and the deliciousness this burger represented, I was satisfied. Ambiance-wise, it is a nice looking bar that serves food, and they make upscale drinks. Definitely was not planning on having drinks here, but the bartender was nice enough to agree to make me a royal aviation as they make regular aviations. In a town where restaurants close early, Durkin's stands out. This is the third restive tried on a Tuesday night, after two restaurants said their kitchens closed early. I tried some cider next door and they said Durkins is open later AND has the best burger in Spokane. I looked it up on yelp and sure enough, there are multiple reviews about the best burger in town. I walked over and was greeted by the bartender, who helped me get seated with water and put my burger order in. The whole area is dim lit but you can tell it's clean and next to the bar is open kitchen concept, so you can watch your drink made and the food cooked. Pretty cool. The famous burger cake, it's quite large, and immediately I knew I couldn't finish it but boy is it delicious. I can't claim it's the best in Spokane but I've had burgers all over the US and it's pretty good. Double patty, pickles, onions, some type of tzatziki/aioli situation, dense seasame bun, hot hot flavorful meat. It's really good. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived. There were plenty of booths open as the waiter walked us to a tiny table in the corner as we did not have reservations, with other people who also did not. I live in Spokane and have been to Durkin's a few times during the last four years. I like that you can bring a bottle of Barrister wine and not be charged a corkage fee. I was there last night with two friends. Our booth across from the bar was comfortable. One friend had the fish sandwich which she liked. My other friend and I had the Steak Frites, the Chateaubriand for $35 which is served with delicious fries, a good sauce and a bit of watercress salad. Our steaks were tough as nails. We mentioned this to our server respectfully, letting her know it wasn't her service. All three of us felt a bit disappointed that the server didn't follow some basic steps, the least of which is an apology and having a manager come to the table. We weren't even certain that our server relayed the information to the chef! The gist is that I won't be returning to Durkin's and highly recommend diners avoid the Chateaubriand! read more

first time at Durkin's per the recommendation of a friend. immediately loved the vibe inside. You could easily elevate your look or stay super casual and you wouldn't stand out either way. My friend told me about the cool bar in the basement but neither the server or other staff members told us about it so know that is there. my boyfriend got the steak which he said was an 8/10 (he's a TOUGH critic) but the portion size was too small. My new favorite restaurant in Spokane!! Ambiance: There are two areas to this restaurant/bar. When you first walk in there are a row of booths across from the cooking station. This is a good area for perhaps a group of 4-5. We said hello to the chefs when we walked passed but they were not really engaging which is totally fine because they are working overtime to create amazing food. The downstairs however is such a vibe, a darker lit area with unique seating and decor, as well as a full bar. The music is A1 and the booths/chair combos are perfect for a dinner of two. There is also a couple small couches in the middle of this area that offer another unique seating area. Service: Downstairs the bartender was our server as well. He was amazing!! As soon as we came in I was confident he knew what he was doing. He made my date and I two amazing drinks and he also answered any questions we had regarding the menu. Food: OH MY GOODNESS. This food is top tier. If you've ever been to the Otium in Los Angeles this was so so close in quality if not at that level of quality. I got the burger and my date got the mushroom gnocchi. Both dishes were 11/10. The gnocchi was melt in your mouth and the sage on top was crisp and full of flavor. I also got the fig salad which was delightful however beware to chew with caution, due to some hard pieces in the figs. The burger is made with "chuck patties" which is a ground beef made in house, and omg it was to die for!! Most of the dishes were in the $20-30 dollar range which I think is pretty darn good for the quality. We will definitely be coming back to this restaurant. We celebrated my nieces 60th birthday on November 21st. Food and service is great but the booth we sat in needs to be replaced! I slid in and hooked my pants on a protruding spring. I kept forgetting to mention it to the server and of course they were busy. I didn't realize until Thanksgiving day that my pants got ripped from the spring. So, we love Durkins and are regulars. My husband is battling cancer and has a restrictive diet due to this. The server tonight would not even allow us to order a side of vegetables. I understand that substituting their menu is frowned upon and deeply discouraged, but my husband was left with a starter salad as his entree while on chemotherapy treatments. Durkin's was one of my favorite Spokane restaurants until last night. The menu was different as was the staff. I understand they have a new Head Chef. I didn't see anything on the new menu that appealed to me. I elected the pork chop which I could have cooked at home. Our waiter was not as friendly or effective as the previous wait staff. He spent time talking to someone at the bar. Apparently, he or the kitchen missed one of our orders as one diner at the table was not served and had to wait 15 minutes for their dinner to arrive. Two individuals order the duck with cheese spaetzle. One of whom was German. Both complained the duck was tasteless and the spaetzle arrived cold and there was no cheese in it. The German in our group has made cheese spaetzle for me and I think he knew what he was talking about. I had a very thick, if not dry, porkchop. It had a fruity sweet sauce that didn't help the dryness of the pork or my enjoyment of my dinner. The only happy person at the table had fish and chips which I suspect came from the freezer.
