We used to love this place so much, just meh anymore. While the server was friendly, we didn't see her much. She did check to see how we were after the food was delivered and we asked for refills on drinks and ketchup. Neither ever showed up until I caught the drink girl and got a refill after the meal was finished. The wrap was very good and refreshing, the accompanying waffle fries were still mushy. The other side of the table enjoyed a French dip and said it was good. Same issue on the waffle fries. Oh, and the mozzarella sticks that used to be as good as house made, are just generic heated from frozen types now. read more

Their burgers were fantastic and exactly what we were looking for. Our group got the Western Burger, Mushroom Swiss Burger, and the Blue Cheese Bacon Burger and all 3 of us agreed that all 3 were fantastic. I got onion ring and they got fries and everyone was equally impressed. Fresh, yummy food. When we first pulled up, we weren't sure what to think from the outside appearance but don't let that fool you. The inside was so cute and welcoming. Loved the environment. Loved the food. Heard great things about this place so my friend and I drove out to Deer Park to try it out. I ordered their fried oysters (delicious) with two pieces of halibut. The halibut was great, but it's no wonder they sell out of their oysters! Instead of fries, I ordered a bowl of clam chowder. My friend ordered their butterflied shrimp dinner. She said they were delicious. With her dinner, she also got a loaded baked potato, garlic bread, and instead of salad opted for clam chowder. The clam chowder was creamy and full of clams, it could've been warmer, but still had great flavor. Definitely worth the drive to Deer Park and we started planning our next visit. read more

Second time we've eaten at Salty Dog Eatery and looking forward to our next visit. Tonight I had the Bacon & Blue Cheeseburger and my husband had the Sriracha burger. Both were cooked to perfection and the flavors were amazing. Blue cheese in the burger was always a head scratcher for me but it sure works, especially here! The French fries were yummy, perfectly fried and lightly salted. Digging into the raspberry cheesecake as I'm writing. Omg... So creamy and delicious. Clean interior. Love the Quonset hut. Some of the best fried fish, shrimp, oysters & especially large meaty clam strips! I appreciate being able to choose a side instead of being stuck with fries all of the time. I prefer the generous serving of crunchy coleslaw or fresh green salad. Also, the garlic bread is a perfect accompaniment, unless you're afraid of butter! And the staff are warm, friendly & welcoming! Obviously, it's a good sign when the locals fill the place too! Definitely worth the short drive north! We have been meaning to go here for years. Finally did and was not disappointed. Kind of quaint place made out of a quonset hut. Decorated with wood siding and NW decor inside. Very clean. My husband had a Rueben Sandwich. He stated it was the best he had!! The meat was generous, dark rye bread tasty. I had the Cod fish snd chips. Delicious. So light and crispy. Not greasy. I was compelled to have it because of the name of the place. The food was served very hot. Yay!! They do have quite a few fish selections. Mostly fried. The french fries were superb. Yum!! The atmosphere is great, the staff is really nice! The food....however...was a bit dry and....well....'salty'! It was literally WAY too salty! It a place like this i expect greasy, hot and yummy..but not overly spiced. I'm an old guy so I don't eat tons of salt anyway and certainly that may be part of it but my taste buds still work pretty well and I felt a bit like a snail crawling across a pile of Morton's that day. The wait time is not too long, it is a moderately clean and well kept establishment...it is what it is...a small town diner. So I don't normally eat anything fried but I got a bit of a craving so I went in for dinner. I ordered the halibut and coleslaw and it was so delicious. The fish was tender and flaky, the breading just the right amount of crunch and I am sure that coleslaw was homemade. I just realized I never checked out any deserts. Oh well, next time! This place is a good example of good service add extra value to the food and vice versa. We ordered to go and when we went in to pick them up, there was no greeting, no smile, and nothing. I didn't feel welcomed. There's an extra $3 charge for something we don't know. No explanation. Food was decent but we will probably chose somewhere else to eat. read more

We met family for dinner tonight at Salty Dog. We all live in Deer Park and wanted to support a local business. IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD! We had fish, oysters, clam chowder, and salad. Food was average. Service was decent. I've been in the service industry for years and my pet peave is not clearing tables. We had a guests with us and wanted to sit and visit for a bit after our meal. The waitress visited our table 3 times after our meal was served and left dirty glasses, baskets and cutlery. Someone said that our waitress was also the owner. It's possible that she doesn't waitress often but regardless keeping tables clean is a basic. Otherwise a pleasant experience. read more

I wish I had pics of our dinner tonight at Salty Dog, but we dove in so fast to our food! Everything was absolutely delicious! We split the French dip and a four piece battered halibut. It was the best French dip either of us had ever had! The beef was incredibly flavorful, as was the aus jus. The battered halibut was so good! It is a light batter so the flavor of the Halibut really shines through. Everything was so good! Our server was the owner's daughter and she was delightful. Even if it wasn't among the few restaurants in Deer Park, And was in Spokane, I'd still go to it because it's that good. The waitresses are always so friendly, great atmosphere. If you're super hungry and want to consume 2000 calories their fish and unbelievable fries are the way to go! read more

I am happy to review our experience last night. We have lived in Deer Park for 15 years and have frequented this restaurant but, my meal last night, was exceptional. I had a BLT on a ciabatta roll with LOTS of delicious bacon; one of the best I've had. My side Caesar salad was also delicious covered with thinly sliced parmesan cheese curls on top. I have ordered this meal many times before but last night seemed upgraded. My husband said his shrimp was delicious along with a bowl of yummy clam chowder soup. I went with my hubby and some friends. I was hoping for some fried oysters, but I got there too late. It does say on the menu to get there early because they will run out, but I didn't know this ahead of time. My friend ordered the fried calamari and I tried some and it was good. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder, and it was nice and thick the way it should be. Too bad it tasted like floury paste. I was really disappointed. Our waitress was really nice but got my hubs order wrong. He couldn't get her attention, so he ended up walking to the front and another waitress corrected the problem. The prices are crazy expensive for what you get at this restaurant. The service I've had has not been good. The waitress was rude and not friendly both times. The fish and chips are really good but it's like $10 for a one piece fish meal. That's insane. I also don't like that they get involved in small town politics. I've seen many messages up on their reader board regarding various elections or levies and I feel like that's just unprofessional. It also alienates a big part of your clientele if they don't agree. We are locals and went to have dinner with a family member from out of town and waited for over 1.5 hours for food. When we questioned the server, which was the owners daughter, she was very rude back and said "there's nothing I can do". We will NEVER go here again and I wouldn't recommend anyone else going there. You can't judge a book by its cover... Appears from the outside to be an old airplane hangar but has a rustic, open and warm interior. Small bar area with the restaurant area consisting of 6 person high top wood table, booths and standard tables. Went with a friend who had been there before and he said they are known for there fish and chips, especially their halibut and chips. So how could I not order halibut and chips. The menu also contains an assortment of hamburgers, steak, chicken, etc. Looked as if most of the items other then the fish was prepared on a grill. The fish was good. Crisp, not greasy and tasty. Tartar sauce was exceptional but they only give you a small container, you may have to ask for extra. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive and food did not take long.
