    My husband and I went to the Maxwell House for dinner yesterday for the first time. Our server, Alex was awesome!! He was very nice, prompt and was very attentive. And he was the only one working the bar and dining areas. The food was amazing. We shared the Maxwell Poutine. My husband got the Broasted Chicken with fries and I got the Prime French Dip. And of course we had to taste each other's food. The parking is limited, but we knew that before we went. I can't believe that we never tried this place before now. We will definitely be back soon.

    Chickens have never been treated so well. Well, that is, considering they're dinner. You've read about the broasted chicken, and it is a crispy delicious as all the reviews say but here are the pro tips: 1. Get the broasted chicken wings. Way more crunch for you buck by far. 2. There's a sauce that they put on the loaded tots. Order that on the side for dipping. It comes with Frank's red hot and ranch, but this other sauce is the bomb. Loaded tots are also worth getting. I've seen tots that carrierd more load, but these actually have a good tot to stuff balance. A good app for the table to share of get 'em for yourself you're feeling hungry. Friendly staff and if you love a good dive bar this is your place.

    ~~~still the same, baby, baby, still the same~~~ on our 20 year memory lane trip to Spokane, the Maxwell House Tavern, our old neighborhood watering hole was a must stop. the outside is still exactly the same along with the iconic sign. don't let the outside turn you off. the interior has been updated with new booths, tables and flooring. the pool tables are still in the adjoining room and there were folk playing pool just like in the old days. the biggest surprise was the ladies room: painted, brightened up, new fixtures and lighting. it is an amazing transformation. the previous owner, Rich's salad bar is gone, so his delicious clam chowder is off the menu. the menu is expanded. the steak dinner is gone, but the famous 1/2 chicken is still on the menu and just as good as i remembered. it's still a great deal even if the price is now $16.00. the new owners -who used to be regular customers- are welcoming and knows everyone's names. people stopped for a few drinks after work and went home and others stayed for dinner, some pool, some sports on the new tvs, and conversation at the bar. this is not a fancy gastro-pub or as we used to call them brass-and-ferns-bars. the food is honest tavern fare that is well-prepared. this is still a true neighborhood tavern. enjoy them while they are still around.
    Certainly some of the friendliest staff we've encountered in the Spokane metro, and every one of them in continuous movement taking care of the dining, bar and kitchen areas. Made it all seem so effortless. The Broasted Chicken here is the stuff of legend. Been over a decade since my last visit, and it was my Wifey's first time. The new owners are doing the food just how I remembered. Just with more smiles than the last management, haha. Last night's dinner we went with a large order of their Broasted Wings, and they were fantastic. Big, meaty, perfectly crispy on the outside, and perfectly done on the inside. I also ordered their house Burger, and the Macaroni Salad that I selected as a side was amazing. It had shredded white-meat chicken, and could have been a meal in itself. Parking can be tricky at peak times, but it's definitely worth half a block's walk to visit. It's one of the oldest restaurants in the city, and they're still hitting it outta the park. The new ownership/team is awesome...
    Came here based on Yelp reviews. Don't drive by, come in to some of the best chicken in the Northwest, seriously!!! Friendly attentive staff. Great prices on food and drinks. My go to for chicken. Everything else looked great too. But that chicken!
    Lots of TV's for sports.
    Had broasted chicken. Taste was good. Skimpy on the JoJo's. Chickens are on the small size. Bartender was good, place was clean.
It smelled amazing when we first walked in and we were immediately greeted and seated. Service was amazing! It was fast and efficient and our waitress made the process smooth and fast. We got two apps, the flatbread and the loaded deviled eggs. The devil eggs were creamy topped with smoky bacon and a pungent parm crisp. It was lovely! The filling was smooth and the smokiness of the bacon cut the richness of the filling. The parm added a wonderfully taste as well as added a interesting texture. The star of the apps was definitely the flatbread though. It was a soft bread with a sweetness chili based topped with bacon, peppers, and onions! It was delicious! The sweetness paired with the bacon was brilliant! I got the shrimp pasta! The sauce was beautiful and the shrimp were juicy and cooked perfectly. The wine was cooked off wonderfully leaving just a hint of flavor with none of the bitterness. The burger was juicy and the cheese was wonderfully meaty. The bun was fresh and bouncy. The veg were fresh and while we weren't ask how we wanted the meat cooked (my sister is very picky) it was cooked to her liking. The least strongest dish was the schnitzel. The meat was crispy, but honestly lacked flavor. The potatoes were also mashed with chucks which I just don't prefer and it also has skin still so...
    A Nightcap Under 5,000 Pieces of Glass…read more Late Friday night, end of a work trip, and we just wanted one good last pour before bed. The Peacock Room was still open right by our hotel, so in we went. Best accidental decision of the trip. You walk in and the room hits you. Dark, moody, eclectic wallpaper, the kind of place that feels like it has stories. Then you look up. A stained glass peacock ceiling, thousands of pieces of it, glowing over the whole room. I just stood there for a second. Wow. The space is big and built for good company. Plenty of room for four couples or a bigger group to settle in. They stay open till 1am, which makes them a rare find for us late-nighters. The bourbon list earned my respect. I went Michter's, Old Forester 1910, and Weller Antique 107, and the 1.5 oz pours were priced fair and honest. No tourist markup. My wife worked through a Huckleberry Heaven, a dirty martini, and an espresso martini. The Huckleberry leaned on real local huckleberry instead of faking it. The dirty martini came cold and briny with a clean bite, just the way it should be. The espresso martini was rich and smooth with a proper foam cap, the kind that wakes you up and relaxes you at the same time. We got hungry. She had the chicken Caesar, crisp and fresh with warm chicken on top. I went prime rib French dip with fries. Crunchy baguette, savory meat, rich au jus. Exactly what you want at midnight. Then we split the chocolate cabernet cake to close it out, rich and creamy and worth the calories. Tyson and David ran the bar like pros. We're not from around here, so Tyson walking us through the local options meant something. Real conversation, no rushing us, just good people who know their craft. If you're in downtown Spokane, do yourself a favor. Walk in, look up, and order something good.
