Have you ever been to a place and then felt cooler after being there?! Well that's what happens at ruins. We were early visitors when Ruins started and it was good then... didn't know they had taken it to great. This new location is stylish, the staff is super friendly and fun. And the food speaks for itself. Easily went to the top of the list as one of the best restaurants in Spokane. . -WATERMELON SALAD -WHIPPED FETA CHEESE -DIRTY FRIES -PORK SHOULDER -OCTOPUS -PAPPARDELLE

I have been wanting to get here since they had their first location (made it to Hunt for cocktails). Finally, after many home improvement that seemed to take forever (3 yrs) I convinced my significant other that it was time! Time for something delicious, special, not found elsewhere. Though Spokane has good eateries, many that we loved have gone the wayside. Ruins has just gone to a new location and parking is free. Custom cocktails from the bartender were perfect. We were a bit early for the dinner menu but it was worth the wait. I had King Salmon paired with those little potato coins, perfectly cooked with an awesome sauce, yea I said that. My other half had Meatloaf with mashed potato and salsa verde. He's so practical and also loves meatloaf. Both of these are worth bragging about. Let's not forget dessert, though in my rush to consume that decadent chocolate tarte I did forget to take a picture of either the menu or said dessert. It was that good! Thick chocolate, caramel drizzle and lovely vanilla ice cream. Who could pass on that? We left sated and satisfied as well as convinced that a return is warranted. The location is walking distance to the KY street market, the dining room is chill, there is an outside patio and the staff is friendly as well as attentive. Go there!

Great local place with amazing drinks, food and service. Whipped feta was ridiculously good! Love the vibe of the place!

The food was quite good. The appetizer "loaded fries" was incredibly rich and such a large portion, it's a steal for that price. The salmon skin was a little overcooked so it couldn't be cut into with forks. It was an awkward evening as we arrived and asked for a table outside, knowing there would be a wait. The host person was unable to speak in full sentences to us or make eye contact but eventually said the wait was about 45 minutes. I asked if we could sit at the bar while we wait and they said yes. We had great bar service for drinks and had just ordered an appetizer about ten minutes in when the host person came up to us and said our table was ready. I asked if we should close out our bar tab and they just stared at me without words. So we awkwardly got up to follow them to our table, and I told my husband I would go back and pay our bar tab. The bartender saw us being shown a table and was upset he was not informed we were being moved. Overall, I don't think I would return here. As good as the food is, other than the view the ambience is lacking. The host person's inability to communicate with customers made it awkward, and we witnessed several other problems caused that messed up the wait staff. I do want to note that our server and bartender were wonderful. At the entree prices it would be nice if the front of house staff weren't wearing ripped baggy sweatshirts and dirty jeans. This is the sort of location and menu you go to for an elevated night out and it just didn't meet that expectation.

    Pasta with meatballs

My friends and I went to Ruins shortly after their opening. I got their pasta with meatballs and burrata cheese. The dish seemed to lack flavor and the dish was luke warm when they served it to me. It felt like it was sitting on a counter for awhile. The service seemed to be slow, and the place was pretty empty. The patio was lovely and a great spot to sit on a nice day and people watch. The outside seating is right by the trail. I do not think I would be back, the price seems a little high for the food.

Bummer, this one missed the mark overall but there's goodness to share. Pros -Accommodating service - our party had 2 separate reservations. They were able to accommodate us when we arrived to 1 large table of 8. - all ingredients were fresh, including beverage choices . Made for beautiful colors and a slight change in flavor from what the teens were used to. Turns out, the teens prefer the ordinary , fake grenadine in the Shirley Temple, not fresh cherry juice. ‍ - Dan Dan noodle dish was fresh, flavorful and delicious. Had a bite to it, which I liked. - delicious Caesar salad with the perfect sized chop to the lettuce. - generous portions! -starter flatbread was the hit , served warm with a tomato smear and whipped feta. This was a 5 star app!! Cons: - it took a bit to get the drinks right. I tried the beet margarita which was super tart. - gnocchi as featured on DDD is a very rich dish. 1-2 bites is plenty. I'd love more veggies in that dish. - my burger crew said it was a good one, would have been even better with fries, not chips. -pumpkin soup arrived cold. Had to send it back .

New location, same great tastes! I mean they moved like forever ago from Monroe Street, and the new place is by less "divey", but I sorta miss the old building. Prices went up too! Service is better though, much more attentive.

Disappointing The stuffed Crimini mushrooms are nothing special. I really couldn't taste the stuffing. The roasted Brussels sprouts were similar. They just tasted like chopped-up sprouts and they were pretty wet. Nothing about them tasted 'smoked'. The sausage rolls could have come from any store. Wrapped in unremarkable dough. This plate with similar to 'Pigs in a blanket'. I did like the garlic aioli dip. I enjoyed the atmosphere and we had a good and delightful waitress. I tried this restaurant about a year ago and maybe I will try it again in another year?

This place makes the freshest dishes. We could taste every herb and spice in the recipes. We visited on a Wednesday so the place was mostly empty. Perhaps that got the chef to give us his very best Definitely coming back to this place the next time we visit Spokane

Visited Ruins for the first time tonight. I cannot say how fantastic everything was from ambiance, to service, to food. Our server Jay was a real delight and was so knowledgeable about everything from drinks to food. The food was so delicious and we enjoyed watching the chefs prepare in the kitchen. This place is so good, I could move to Spokane. Tip- chocolate pot de crème was life changing.

My last time at Ruins was back in 2020 when they were on Monroe. After a few years, I finally got to visit Spokane and eat at Ruins again tonight. This restaurant has always had a special place in my heart because of their unique menu and due to it being home to one of my girlfriend and I's first dates back in 2020. The ambiance and location of their "new" (to me) location on Riverside is awesome! The Monroe location was super cute but also way smaller. I'm happy to report that after many years the new location met and exceeded my already high expectations. I had the Chicken Schnitzel for dinner and the olive oil cake for dessert. The chicken was incredibly juicy and the breading was crispy and well-seasoned. Around the rim of the plate was a super yummy olive oil that soaked into the eggplant puree and roasted tomatoes, and ultimately tied the dish together. The olive oil cake was salty to the point of being savory, which was perfectly balanced by the sweetness from the blackberry sorbet and plums. The chicken schnitzel might be up to personal preference, but I highly recommend the olive oil cake for dessert. Only $10 and reasonably portioned for 2 (I ate it all alone). I didn't catch his name, but my waiter made me a great old fashioned and was super friendly. I also love the overall vibes of the restaurant! It started to fill up around 6pm on a Tuesday, so be sure to get here early or make a reservation.

The whole atmosphere is dark, cozy, moody, and feels more like a hidden lounge than a typical downtown bar. Between the lighting, music, books, and dramatic cocktail menus, the vibe alone makes the place worth visiting. We tried the espresso martini, Painkiller, and Bloody Verde. The espresso martini was smooth and easy to drink without being overly sweet, and the Painkiller had that creamy tropical flavor that somehow still worked with the darker speakeasy atmosphere. Keeping it honest though, the Bloody Verde just wasn't for me personally. I can still appreciate the creativity behind it, but the flavor combo just didn't match my taste buds. That being said, if you like savory spicy cocktails, you'd probably feel very differently about it. Service was friendly, drinks came out looking great, and the music really tied the whole experience together. Definitely feels like one of Spokane's more unique cocktail spots if you want something moodier and more relaxed.

Most recently, on a Friday evening around 7 PM, my party was seated near the end of the bar by the restroom area. A server approached me in a confrontational manner and told me to move my chair because it was blocking the walkway. I immediately complied and moved it where he directed. Despite that, he repeatedly pushed and squeezed past the chair in an aggressive way several times afterward and then returned to confront me about it again. The interaction felt hostile, unnecessary, and unprofessional. Unfortunately, this wasn't an isolated incident. On a previous visit, a female server was rude and controlling toward our table, and on another occasion when we were unhappy with a menu item, the response was essentially, "You ordered it, you pay for it," with no attempt to address the concern professionally. The atmosphere is great, which is why we've continued to come back. However, after several visits involving rude and confrontational interactions with staff, it feels more like an ongoing culture issue than a one-time bad experience. I don't expect special treatment, but I do expect basic courtesy and respect. Hopefully management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve the customer experience.

The filling was smooth and the smokiness of the bacon cut the richness of the filling. The parm added a wonderfully taste as well as added a interesting texture. The star of the apps was definitely the flatbread though. It was a soft bread with a sweetness chili based topped with bacon, peppers, and onions! It was delicious! The sweetness paired with the bacon was brilliant! I got the shrimp pasta! The sauce was beautiful and the shrimp were juicy and cooked perfectly.
