Always have to start with the service, very good high quality service. Not too much but there when needed. We had a group of eight and there was a lot of "not ready yet" which the staff handled with ease. Food came out quickly but mostly all at the same time. We had a few items that came out later but it was reasonable and expected. Ambiance is very nice, simple but elegant. You would feel comfortable coming in dressed up or casual. Let's get to the nitty gritty, the food quality was very good, taste was a knock out. The pasta and sauce was good enough that I was looking for specific tastes so I could recreate it, that's what I hope for in a restaurant! And there was fresh bread, oh how I could wax poetic about fresh bread and so few restaurants are on this very simple add. Dessert - I'm always hypercritical of crème brûle because like bread it's pretty simple ingredients but takes some care, Muzuna's nailed it. Food was pretty good but nothing blew our minds. The smoked trout appetizer was good and no complaints about the actual food. This place lost stars on the service and timing. My son and his friend showed up early to our reservation and were sat at our table but not offered a beverage or appetizer & completely ignored until we got there 30 minutes later. When it came to dinner our group's pasta entrees were served 20 minutes before others received their steaks, which made for a very awkward dining experience. Came here for my wedding anniversary dinner. The clams appetizer was the star of my meal, highly recommend! I found out they were out of scallops when I ordered my entree, though, which was pretty disappointing; it would have been better to hear about that earlier. The waitress suggested a pasta special in place of it, but I ended up going with the steelhead trout entree instead. The trout was fully rare when I got it...I had to ask for it to be re-fired to medium (I can handle fish at medium rare but not rare, unless it's sashimi). They were quick and accommodating about that request and the trout was delicious. The mashed potatoes and asparagus on the side were great. Second time here! We love this place. This is our night out place. This is a farm fresh bistro, amazing flavor combinations great service (Lisa is wonderful!) and kid friendly. We got the grilled cheese and apples for our kiddo, made with delicious flavorful cheeses for kids who like flavor! Our kid does. Crab cakes, chicken shiitake wraps and beet salad are incredible. Parking was difficult to find. Street parking only. The table set up for our large party was done weirdly; we were put very close to other tables, and even though they knew I was going to be with a service dog, there was no safe place for him to sit. He was stepped on, tripped over, and accidentally kicked by a variety of staff. The service itself was good. Friendly and patient. We had a reservation for the Sunday night after Christmas and prior to the new year. Our schedule changed the very day of our reservation and they were able to accommodate our party and back us up to 6 PM even though we were a group of seven. The dining room was cozy and comfortable and not particularly full that particular night. My sister and I both had the sea scallops which were excellent and my daughter had the pork chop. It was large enough that she only ate half and then enjoyed the next half of it the following day at lunch. We came here for a winter birthday. It was dimly lit inside which gave it kind of a romantic feel. I feel like the tables were too close to each other since when I got up I couldn't push my chair all the way back to get out . I did like the exposed red brick walls and local art displayed. The bread paired with olive oil and balsamic vinegar is always delicious at any place that serves it. We were a larger group and hungry so I appreciated them filling the bread basket and oil dip. I showed up a little late so I can't remember what the group ordered for appetizers, but it was good. For my main course I stuck with what I know will be good which is the steak and potatoes. My steak was cooked perfectly and medium rare. I have never had a New York and it was quite tender. I was quite surprised that I received more than a few asparagus spears and a dollop of mashed potato's. Which is always a bonus. The Gorgonzola mashed potatoes were delicious. Very creamy with a hint of cheese. The mashed potatoes were the star of the dish. I did also really like the assortment of mushrooms on top as well. Everyone in the group ordered different items. A couple of people ordered the duck special, the scallops, and the salmon. One ordered the salad and returned it because there wasn't enough dressing, and wasn't satisfied with the quality of the salad for the price. They all said their food was just okay. I enjoyed my steak and potatoes. Overall my food was good. But if I were going to go out for steak I would go somewhere else like Wolf Lodge or Churchhills. read more

If you are in the area don't miss this restaurant. It was honestly one of the top 5 meals I have ever had. I sat down outside and there were two menus one normal and the second vegetarian. I saw several things on both menus that sounded appealing but then the waitress mention the daily specials and one sounded really good so I went with that. I wish I knew all the ingredients or the name of the dish but she just told it to me so I have nothing to go on. It was a Pappardelle dish with spinach, mushrooms, feta cheese and the most interesting grilled white nectarines. I have never had grilled fruit with pasta before but it was incredible. The flavors worked so well with it all it as absolutely amazing. I can't wait to go back to this restaurant the next time I am in town and I hope they have that again. If not I'm sure everything is incredible on their menu. read more

The food was great, and the service was timely and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant.

We were seated promptly for our reservation. There's a good parking lot nearby. Servers were great. Many options for gluten free vegetarians which was much appreciated. Our meal started with bread and oil/vinegar mix on a plate. I feel like they could have done this better. Some seasonings. A pinch of crushed red pepper. Something that makes this more than the two ingredients we can do for ourselves at home any day of the week. Also, the gluten free bread was a sandwich bread...looked like cheap Franz gluten free bread. They could and should do much better than this. Udi's makes a decent gluten free baguette. There's even a local place called Cole's that makes gluten free baguettes and you can get them frozen. There's zero excuse to be using cheap sandwich bread for your free appetizer. Appetizer we chose was the tacos. These were more like a fried quesadilla than a taco. We had just had the tacos at Wild Sage a couple nights ago and these just can't hold a candle to those. Wild Sage just did it better. I had the meatless meatloaf which was decent. Just decent. The Gorgonzola mashed potatoes had a lemon flavor to them. WHY?!?? Lemon didn't go at all. Just no. The grilled asparagus was PERFECT! So so good and nicely seasoned. The meatless meatloaf was tasty enough but they put a tomato chipotle paste on top that was wayyyyy spicier than I care for. And it also had too much of it. It tasted like it was basically tomato paste and too much powdered chipotle pepper. Tomato paste is intense and concentrated and you don't need much of it. I scraped it off the top. A hint of that stuff was plenty. Hubs had the crispy polenta dish that had a creamy Gorgonzola sauce over it, carrots (not rainbow as advertised), and portobello mushrooms. It was delicious! Frankly, they needed to put that creamy Gorgonzola sauce over my mashed potatoes. That would have been very welcome. For dessert we had the creme brûlée which was good. But, unfortunately, we went to Wild Sage a couple nights before this. And honestly, they just did everything better, so much so that the contrast was noticeable. Wild Sage has a homemade free appetizer for gluten free with lavender honey butter. Their creme brûlée was an authentic and amazing creme brûlée that had me in raptures at every bite. The one here was good but leaned more toward custard than creme brûlée. And the sugar was a bit too far burnt on one side. The truth is this was fine. Decent. Acceptable. But for the price!!! It should have been exceptional and it just wasn't. Wild Sage was truly exceptional. I was having fomo that maybe we had missed out on something great by not coming here yet but nope. We'd have been just fine not coming here. Missed nothing. At every step of our meal, we noticed small things that made this just ok and didn't elevate it to the level of amazing we were looking for. I'll be going back to Wild Sage in future. They know what five star looks like and tastes like. Mizuna hasn't figured that out yet. I could have made these same dishes at home myself and made them better. That's not the feeling you want when you eat out. read more

The menu is extremely limited, I ordered the overpriced chicken, which was swimming in butter, and full of skin, gristle and bones! My friend eats much better at her assisted living! I was visiting from out of town. Came to Spokane to spend my birthday weekend with my 2 son's. Not familiar with the area, my children's mom recommended Mizuna. The service- Both my boy's are now adults, but they also have autism. This sometimes triggers others to treat them like they're children. Our waitress directly engaged with them as if they were no different than any other normal adult. As if she couldn't even tell even though it's blatantly obvious. This encouraged my oldest to look directly at her and give his order with a clear and confident voice without stuttering. He even tossed in some hand gestures to over accentuate what he was saying. To the parents of kids on the spectrum, you know how huge this is. The food- Everything we ordered was awesome. The risotto balls, oven baked chicken, cashew crusted avocado noodles. The only let down was that they were out of the crème brûlée. The key lime and bread pudding definitely made up for it though. The drinks- I love me a good classic old fashioned. It's getting harder and harder these days to find an establishment that won't destroy this drink. The bartender came through on this one. My oldest son has a thing for espresso martini's. I asked him how it was and he responded with a double thumbs up. When it was time for the second and third drink, I just asked the waitress to get me whatever drinks she favored. Again she didn't disappoint. We finally ended the night with a couple shots of a very tasty espresso. The food, the drinks, and especially the awesome waitress (I wish I could remember her name). Back again to one of our favorite restaurants, I've heard some bad reviews about these scallops, so I wanted to try them for myself, but before I go there, we're going to dig into appetizers first. I got the ginger jalapeño crabcakes very savory and fresh with a little bit of cilantro. I love that tangy pop of the heat. My husband got the chicken and shiitake mushroom lettuce wraps. Those looked so good I had to try the chicken right away as it was put down beside me. I could smell that yummy teriyaki coming off of it. I also stole a couple of the mushrooms; they are so good don't tell anyone (Sorry, maybe you shouldn't sit so close) lol For a side salad, we got White cheddar and Apple salad was more on the bland side than the Grilled Ginger tofu. It had a sesame vinaigrette throughout, and was just god-sent so good I can go back there and order a large one, and I would be content. For entrées, My husband got the chicken. He said it was very juicy cooked perfectly; the Gorgonzola cream sauce that he got on the side was delicious. He was overall pretty impressed. Now finally, the scallops. I was hesitant about my first bite because of all the reviews lately that it's dry and grainy!! So there I was, cutting it in half, which I was pleasantly surprised that I got more than two scallops on my plate. I actually had five with a delicious rosemary risotto and chard asparagus. Anyways I was taking that bite into the scallop, waiting for this hard, grainy taste, and it was so perfect soft melted right your mouth amazing goodness one of the best scallops I've ever had I was so happy ordered this dish. // if you're ever in doubt, definitely order the scallops. They are great mouthwatering goodness. I don't know how I had room for some more food, so I got the crème brûlée which was good we always check that hardness to make sure it's there on the crust ;) Now my husband got the vegan carrot cake. I want to detail how it tasted because we had odd views on our table. So this is what I heard it's very wet, dense, moist, "healthy " we were trying to figure it out. Maybe they use a brown rice to make the cake and pineapple juice. It's a healthier take on a carrot cake, so don't expect your traditional sugar-filled cake that's not what you're going to get. Really disappointing, tried pork belly, tuna poke and chicken wraps. The pork was pre cooked, the fish was soft, probably previously frozen, the chicken in the wraps was over salted. The food, the service, everything is always perfect here. The food is "fancy" but approachable and well priced for being one of the nicer restaurants in town. Laura was our server and was so sweet and even made a custom drink for us, the Keylime martini. It was the best one we've ever had! I hope they add it to their drink menu so that we can order it next time, too! Their patio is in the alley, but that doesn't describe it well, because it is very romantic. It is a great spot for either a date night or a fun girls night! For food, definitely order the crabcakes to start and the chicken with Gorgonzola cream sauce for dinner. I celebrated my 10 year vegan anniversary here and I loved the whole experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful on picking drinks. The food was INCREDIBLE! I had the vegan Mac and cheese and I can happily say I've found the best Mac and cheese there is! It's a great place to have a fancy get together, they have options for everyone ! Also the prices live up to the quality of food, the flavors are rich and savory. I'll be coming back again, to taste more of their vegan desserts and dishes.
