Casual, colorful, the kind of spot where you expect someone to walk in wearing flip flops and carrying a fishing pole. Comfortable vibe. Easy place to settle in and see what the fryer can do. First up were the fried green tomatoes. They came out looking like they'd just won a beauty pageant. Crispy outside, tender inside, cooked exactly right. Texture nailed. But flavor-wise they felt like they forgot their gym bag at home. Needed salt. Needed a little personality. A rare moment where the fryer did its job but the seasoning clocked out early. Then the headliner arrived. The fried chicken at Champy's Famous Fried Chicken has a reputation to protect, and thankfully it shows up ready to work. Crisp, flavorful crust. Juicy inside. The kind of chicken that crunches just enough to make everyone at the table look over and get jealous. "If the deep fryer had a Hall of Fame, Champy's chicken is getting a first-ballot vote." And then came the move that sealed the deal. A dip into Champy sauce. Suddenly the flavor level jumped another notch. Salty, tangy, just enough punch to make the crust shine even more. The sleeper hit though? The cole slaw. Creamy, balanced, and actually refreshing next to all the fried goodness. It's the quiet kid in class who ends up acing the exam. Easy to overlook, but absolutely worth ordering. Now for the tiny curveball. I happened to land there on karaoke night. And let's just say... the speakers believed they were performing at an arena concert. Loud enough that conversation required leaning halfway across the table and reading lips. On the flip side, the crowd was clearly having a blast. A few genuinely good singers, a few that were more... enthusiastic than talented, and plenty of people cheering them on. Honestly, respect to anyone with the courage to grab a microphone in a room full of strangers. So no star deductions for that. The people who showed up to sing were having the time of their lives. Bottom line, Champy's Famous Fried Chicken is a fun place with seriously good fried chicken. Order the bird, grab the slaw, lean into the fried side of the menu, and enjoy the show if karaoke happens to be on the schedule. Just maybe bring your singing voice... or your earplugs.

You walk in and you choose your table and a nice waitress will bring your menus. We like the chicken strip basket which comes with two sides. Of our favorites are the fries, the collard greens, green beans, and mac and cheese. The chicken strips are very crispy, the meat is just a little dry but the flavor is great with even the mild level heat having nice heat. We also got the catfish which has a perfect crust and perfectly cooked inside. The baskets come with sauce and you get two per order. Probably more than you'll need. You get great food for an affordable price. Good Southern service. Just all around one of our faves.

We were told to seat ourselves and our menus would be brought to us. After a short wait, the bartender/server came to take our drink order and food order. We both ordered the mild heat chicken tender special (3 tenders and fries for $7). We also added a veggie plate so we could try the Mac and cheese and greens. Our food arrived after a few minutes. The tenders were cooked fresh and were piping hot when they arrived. The chicken was dusted with mild heat seasoning. Outside of that seasoning, they weren't seasoned with anything else. We both remarked that we've had better Nashville hot tenders and better tenders in general. The Mac and cheese was just okay but the greens were the star of the meal. They were flavorful, meaty and had just enough kick to keep things interesting. Good meal overall. I recommend that you try them out. We will return to try other menu items.

We placed our order and grabbed our cups, beverages (kudos for a very clean drink machine), and utensils, all of which were to the side of the counter where you order. At this time, the quaint dining room was half full. I counted a total of 10 smaller tables inside the dining room, so mind you, it can fill up quickly during peak hours. Two large picnic tables can be found outfront, as well as six small picnic tables outback- all dog friendly. We grabbed a two-seater table inside and then heard our name called for our order (more kudos for quick ticket times). You go back to the ordering counter to pick up your food. We ordered the Maple Benton's Bacon Chicken and Waffles ($15) and a Plain Jane Blue Plate with mac n cheese and green beans for the sides. Everything was delicious, well seasoned, and balanced. The green beans had a slight smokiness to them that was reminiscent of collard greens, which we loved. The fried chicken had some spiciness to it, so beware. Overall, it was a great experience. We appreciated the cleanliness and how the staff were always smiling. Bonus, they have a drive-thru, too! We look forward to another visit.

You gotta get it!! With Alabama Sauce!! We love our Nashville Hot chicken, we usually get it at our favorite Hattie B, HERE it's almost equal good(I just like it more when it's Bone In) Our kids devoured the smash Burger and ice cream waffle - they gave it double thumbs up!!!
