A new favorite restaurant of ours. We went in for an early dinner, about 4:30 pm on a Friday. Arrived to be greeted by friendly staff who were helpful and ready to take our order. We placed our order and grabbed our cups, beverages (kudos for a very clean drink machine), and utensils, all of which were to the side of the counter where you order. At this time, the quaint dining room was half full. I counted a total of 10 smaller tables inside the dining room, so mind you, it can fill up quickly during peak hours. Two large picnic tables can be found outfront, as well as six small picnic tables outback- all dog friendly. We grabbed a two-seater table inside and then heard our name called for our order (more kudos for quick ticket times). You go back to the ordering counter to pick up your food. We ordered the Maple Benton's Bacon Chicken and Waffles ($15) and a Plain Jane Blue Plate with mac n cheese and green beans for the sides. Everything was delicious, well seasoned, and balanced. The green beans had a slight smokiness to them that was reminiscent of collard greens, which we loved. The fried chicken had some spiciness to it, so beware. Overall, it was a great experience. We appreciated the cleanliness and how the staff were always smiling. Bonus, they have a drive-thru, too! We look forward to another visit. read more

This quaint little restaurant has some awesome food. Imagine just about any take on a fried chicken sandwich. Can I just say yummy. I had the peanut thai curry, yes you read that right. Of what a change up from the norm. The chicken overflowed from bun, was crisp and moist. My family and I stopped in this little gem on a Sunday before noon. The place was exceptionally clean, and the Manager and young lady behind the counter were very helpful, as it was our first time in. I ordered the chicken liver appetizer, and the chicken breast with Alabama white sauce, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese. They brought a colossal order of chicken livers with the jerk sauce drizzled on top. They were fried to perfection. The batter was delicious. I noticed a couple of people watching as the livers were set on the table, so I offered some of the other patrons a chicken liver. We all were so impressed with the flavor. My entree was equally impressive. The restaurant was clean, inviting and very orderly. You can tell that the Manager and staff are all on the same page as far as cleanliness. The thing that really stood out to me is seeing so many people smiling, and really enjoying the food. People were sharing bites of the different things that had been ordered. I really wanted to like this place, but left a little disappointed. We were passing through on Sunday afternoon and read good reviews, so made the stop. We were given menus and had to order at the counter when we were ready. This means we paid before we got our food and were asked to leave a tip before getting any service. When the food was ready, had to go pick it up at the counter. A fast-food experience, but I can forgive that for the quaintness of the place. I ordered the smoked sausage and kraut, and my wife ordered the chicken and dressing with a side of mac&cheese. Expectation: a nice sausage link for me and a slices of chicken with a mound of dressing. Reality: thinly sliced sausage mixed in with the kraut and shreaded chicken mixed in with the stuffing. My first thought when I saw the chicken platter was "where's the chicken?" OK - I guess we can deal with that. It looked good. To the table. My wife took her first bite and said "It's not hot." Mine was OK - not steaming, but better than luke warm. We called the employee cleaning the nearby table (can't call her a server - they didn't serve), and she took the meal back and brought a new one in a few moments. Not reheated - a new platter. The man I assumed to be the owner came over a few minutes later to apologize. He explained that they probably dished this up while my kraut medley was being heated and it got cold while it sat. So I asked - it looked like the sauerkraut was charred a little - probably heated on the flat top... why not do that with the stuffing to have it HOT rather than warm? Well, that's not the way it's done. I commented about other restaurants serving food that is not hot and was told that the food lasts longer if it's kept at a lower temperature. So it's all about the convenience of pre-making food, rather than the customers' dining experience. Reviews - they were light and crunchy but bordered too salty (but feel that's a very personal taste & I don't tend to use much salt). Neither of us tried desert - maybe next time. We got a side of fries which were okay (not fresh cut like I expected). The peach cobbler was $8 and to be honest, it was just okay too. Too much $ for what we got. More ice cream than cobbler. We have been extremely excited to try this restaurant for quite sometime and we finally did. Unfortunately, our review isn't really even at all. I'll start with the positives. The Nashville Hot sandwich was the best I've EVER had on an absolutely out of this world bun, the Ain't it Just Right smash burger was phenomenal, and the Fruity One chicken and waffle was delicious. Now for the negatives. The chicken and potato dumpling soup was absolutely terrible and a rip-off for the money. It was sweet and had more potatoes than chicken and dumplings combined. The chicken on the fruity one was spicy with zero warning so my wife ended up having to find food from home, the fruit selection on it was lackluster, and it only comes with half a waffle for some reason. The French fries are mediocre at best, also spicy so my wife couldn't eat even those. Finally, for 2 sandwiches with fries, 1 chicken and half waffle, and 1 soup we paid $52. We really wanted to love it but I fear the negatives will mean we won't be back. read more

And the best chicken, good potato salad (not like the normal homemade potato salad). I loved my veggies, still a little crisp and great favor. Next time we will order some ice cream, just didn't have room for dessert. One suggestion is the menu is hard to read from us blind old people. There were only two small things that did not thrill us: 1. You have to stand at the counter to read the menu and order, and three of the four of us are unable to stand for long. But the prices were reasonable, the food hot and delicious, and the staff friendly and polite - so we will let that pass. 2.The fountain Cokes have an unpleasant taste, like their water source is not good. So, we would recommend ordering bottled beverages from the case. But otherwise, food was fantastic, potions very generous, prices reasonable, and workers were friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back, next time we are in the area! Ordered the chicken and waffles online for 12:00pm. I arrived shortly after that time and my order was ready. It had all the potential to be a great meal but sadly due to the packaging it wasn't . They threw the butter and syrup on both the waffle and the chicken which resulted in a soggy mess. Completely ruined it. If you order this to go I would advise calling it in and request the items be packaged separately or you might as well just jug a cup of syrup.
