Food trucks parks are a distinctly Austin-ite art form, and this one is pretty good. I was invited…read morehere for a Yelp function and got to sample a number of delicacies on offer from the resident trucks. Of special note is the very good blueberry lemonade from Conscious Cravings, as well as a to-die-for selection of goat cheese from the Chivata Goat Cheese Truck. (Seriously, go check out their trailer and pick up one of their sandwiches, your tummy will thank you.) Pros: Outdoor and *indoor* seating - useful when it rains or bakes in Austin, which it can. Reasonable selection of food trucks, you'll find something to try. Bathroom facilities are fine and not port-a-potties. Cons: Some of the trucks hold odd hours on the weekend. Parking is at a premium, with about a dozen spots and 2 handicapped spots. You can find parking on the side streets but be careful crossing 1st Street as the traffic zooms by at light speed! All in all, this location is well worth a visit!

There wasn't a line (it was a pretty hot day) so we managed to order quickly. We opted to split the Black Betty. It was huge!! I loved the blackberry sauce and fruit mixed in with the cream and sugar. This is one big dessert so I'm glad we shared it - honestly would be worth splitting a whole one amongst a few people unless you have a big sweet tooth! The staff were really quick with the order. There's ample seating by the truck which is probably nice for part of the year, but we were suffering on a hot summer day. I would highly recommend this spot - but keep in mind the weather as it's all outdoor and outdoor seating only.

Gordough's is one of those places that fully commits to indulgence. I was able to place my order online and schedule for pick up. The order was ready when I arrived. Parking was a bit challenging and the lot was full and they charge for parking. Service was quick, casual, just good energy and fast turnaround. I ordered my tried and true Miss Shortcake with their famous cake donut with cream cheese icing and fresh cut strawberries. The donut is so indulgent and was served warm with the most delectable flavor combinations. Tried the Son of a Peach with cream cheese icing, spiced peach filling, cake mix topping, cinnamon and sugar with honey butter. This one was a bit too overindulgent and sweet for my liking but was definitely worth a try. Portions are huge and can be shared as the donut is not as good warmed over. If you're in the mood for dessert and not think about calorie count, then this is the place.

My first visit to T-Loc's Sonora Hot Dogs and wow, what a way to be introduced to this spot!…read more I met up with a fellow Yelper friend and we got there not long after opening, which turned out to be a very smart move. While we were waiting for our food, it suddenly became a whole scene, it was National Hot Dog Day, and the line just kept growing and growing. People were fully committed too, hot dog shirts, hot dog hats, I'm pretty sure I saw a walking hot dog at one point. Add in folks bringing their own ice chests of beer and it felt like a little hot dog party. We decided to go big and ordered every kind of dog they make so we could share and try them all. A super sweet lady brought our order out to us, which I loved. No waiting around trying to hear someone shout out your name. And let me tell you, every single one was damn good. You really can't go wrong here. My favorite ended up being the classic chili cheese dog, because apparently I like to keep it old school, ha. But seriously, Mr. T-Loc knows exactly what he's doing with his chili recipe! I also tried an agua fresca for the first time and now I get the hype. So refreshing and good. Next time, I've got my eye on one of those big burritos because they looked crazy good, no joke. Accessibility wise, they do have accessible parking, which is a huge plus. The seating is a mix of circular and standard picnic tables, some with shade, but not the most wheelchair-friendly setup. They do have a ramp up to the covered area and I made it work by parking at an angle at the end of a table, nothing was getting between me and those dogs. Bottom line, this is a must try spot if you're craving great food and don't skip on the fresh made agua fresca!

The combination of ingredients tantalize your tongue. You need to get it exactly how it's is meant to be eaten and don't take anything off of it or add anything it's perfect the way it is. The bacon wrapped beef hot dog combined with all of the toppings at first can look over whelming but once you take the first bite you will taste that everything is balanced and tasted perfect with each other. Service is quick and friendly. You tell them where you are and they will take it out to you. Ambiance is food truck park with about 7 or 8 other food spots.

Waah. Development…read moreand gentrification are destroying the great food truck courts of First Street. Many of the finest ones have either closed or are draining out. What's the issue? Landlords want the land to build new high density apartment buildings. * * * Double Waah. The Bouldin Creek Food Park is still around. Bouldin Creek Food Park is probably the worst of the traditional First Street food courts. It is the northernmost of the First Street food courts - the one nearest to Palmer Auditorium and downtown. It is on a teeny tiny strip of land between First Street itself and the gulch of East Bouldin Creek. The lot is too narrow and oddly shaped to permit high density development. So the landlords are going to leave this place alone. Just as there is precious little room for development, There is also precious little room for the food trucks and the parking. So simply from lack of space, the customers sit practically on First Street itself. The eating tables get the full blast of First Street traffic. The eaters get the noise and the carbon monoxide. They also get the uncompromising blast of the Austin summer sun There is one exception to the rule. If you look carefully, you will find exactly one table in the back that is rustic, quiet and pretty. The East Bouldin Creek Gulch runs there. The gulch has lots of shade and really nice rock cliffs. Picnic heaven? No such luck. The back is where they dump the detritus and spare junk from the food trucks. The back has pallets, framing and extra plastic bottles the carts don't have room for. You are in a eating in a trash pile, a shady trash pile but still a trash pile. * * * Life gets more interesting if you have to go to the bathroom. The bathroom literally is a porta-potty. To be fair, they empty it frequently, so it is not too gross. However, there is no running water to wash your hands after you do your business. Not being able to wash your hands is not great if you intend to eat food afterwards. * * * If the food trucks were absolutely marvelous, one might tolerate the bad location and set-up. The trucks they have are run of the mill. Dawa is better than run of the mill. The rest are ho hum. All of these trucks would be more pleasant in a nicer location. Mueller for example would be a huge promotion for any of them. If you have a food truck you adore, and Bouldin Creek is where it happens to be, all power to you. Enjoy your meal. Enjoy watching the cars drive by. Be sure to go to the bathroom before you leave the house.

From speaking with Tony Jr. today, they also have a restaurant in Pflugerville. I ordered jerk chicken, which fell off the bones and came with cabbage, rice and peas and plantain. I have traveled to Jamaica a couple of times, this Jamaican food was the real deal. The jerk chicken was a bit spicey but not set your tongue on fire spicey. The rice and peas along with the cabbage was perfectly seasoned. The standout for me was the sweet plantain, spoken like a plantain connoisseur. The plantain was sweet on the inside and slightly charred on the outside...perfect combination. The only improvement would have been for me to get a side of plantain. My food was delivered fast and hot. Tony Jr. was super personable and friendly. There is seating in the center of the food truck park. You hear tunes being played in the background. The food truck park is at the core of East Austin in a semi-residential area. Street parking is available for diners. I look forward to trying curry goat and oxtails and more.
