We wanted to order as quickly as possible to not keep the servers waiting so we ordered the halibut, the filet mignon, the brussels sprouts, and the scallop potatoes with an iced tea and an IPA. The halibut was perfectly crispy on the outside and white and meaty on the inside, the steak was perfectly medium-rare with a nice crust. The brussels sprouts were the perfect combination of sweet and smoky as it was drizzled in a light vinaigrette that made them sweet and savory. The scallop potatoes come with a giant sheet of cheese on top broiled to perfection and the scalloped potatoes-even though they were stacked really thick we're not super heavy. I would absolutely come back, but I would like to come back wearing something a little bit nicer, the servers were very professional and didn't rush us at all even though they had started to clean up as it was nearly 11:30. read more

Was able to walk in on a Monday afternoon for lunch. Beautiful sunny day. We sat outside and the views were so nice on the river. As for the food, loved the Oreo Mint Chip Ice cream pie for dessert. The steak frites were decent. The "jumbo" shrimp cocktail was so sad. 3 pieces of average sized shrimp for $34 is kind of crazy. And the plating was so bizzare?? They would bring the food next to our table and we had to look at it and wait for our waiter to return to give it to us (you can see our pie was melting). And our waiter was dropping things and struggled so much to plate things. It would have been better just to put it on our table and let us plate ourselves. read more

This is my go-place, I've been here literally 15+ times now. But, something's been a little off lately. I just came here as a treat for my two daughters who wanted a great steak. I ordered an 8oz filet mignon ($79) and my one daughter got the steak frites ($49) and my other daughter got the skirt steak ($49). The prices all around are rising significantly every time I come... and it's less and less people. I think their prices are outpacing the demand. I still remember when the filet mignon was $42. Also... I ordered a Diet Coke. It wasn't listed on the menu but surprise... it's $6. Six... dollars. My filet mignon was a solid 9/10, amazing crust on the outside, medium rare on the inside... I love that contrast. My daughter with the skirt steak!? UNREAL. SO GOOD. I couldn't believe it, so underrated... if you like Korean BBQ, there's that type of marinade and it was perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth great. 10/10. Now, my other daughter's steak frites... not great. It was tough like leather, I have no idea what kind of cut of steak it was but it was fat and gristle everywhere. She couldn't eat most of it, it was so tough. Highly recommend avoiding this... 2/10. The service was great, as usual. The manager on duty came around and was super nice. I always love that touch. I talked to Chris Moore last time (co-owner), hilarious guy. What I'm noticing, though, is the decline in clientele. Like, it was pretty empty at 1pm on a Friday. Maybe 15-20 table along the windows (it was raining outside). I usually dress appropriately for a steakhouse, as you should - typical dress shirt, slacks, etc... but this time, we did a spur of the moment stop and I called ahead if it was okay that I had on dress shorts and a plain black shirt. The hostess was like, "Yeah, come on down." I still felt awkward... until I walked in. Almost everyone was in t-shirts, gym shoes, etc. I couldn't believe it, like it was Chili's. To me, you have to enforce at least a collar dress code, even if it's a polo. Then, these tables around us were there getting burgers, and not steak. I don't know how to say it nicely but it was again, more like a Chili's crowd (and I like Chili's sometimes!). Anyway... the thing that burned me was the stupid Diet Coke. $6 is insulting. I know, paying $79 for a steak, $6 for a drink should be no big deal but the big kick in the (you know what) is that it's not free refills!! I couldn't believe it. The waitress asked if I wanted another one... I said, sure. $12 on the bill. To me, that's deceptive. I used to be a waiter when I was younger and we would always give the courtesy heads-up if there wasn't a free refill. It's assumed. I asked her about it and she was super defensive, "Yeah, there aren't refills." How would I know? I didn't know the price of it, and I didn't know there weren't refills, as it's not anywhere on the menu that I can find. (Sorry if I'm wrong about that.) So, anyway... we still had an amazing time, my girls loved it... but I docked her tip for that. I usually tip 25% but I knocked it down to 20%. I love this place... I really do, but I see it in decline right now. They have to require a dress code. Stop allowing people in gym shorts and t-shirts at a white table cloth restaurant. When I see people being allowed in like that, it makes it look desperate for 'any' business but then the people actually buying the high-priced items are going to go elsewhere. We had reservations for a Wed. We were sat in a booth. The place gave me 1920s vibe with the decor but I liked it. My only complaint is the space. It seemed as if it was too many tables packed into the space. We didn't even want to get up and go to the restroom because it was very little space to maneuver. The tables that was near us the staff could barley fit thru. Nemo was our hostess with the mostest. He was great! We had the lobster cargot for an appetizer. It was delicious but cooked a bit too long because the lobster was slightly tough to chew. My friend had the brick chicken. Although it was juicy and tender it was very bland. No flavor to it at all. I thoroughly enjoyed the Cajun marinated steak. I didn't even have to use steak sauce. I can say that is the BEST steak I ever had. It was cooked to perfection. Racist. Went here for a summer dinner with 5 other well to do "brown" people. They seated us at a bad table even though we reserved one along the river which when I called- they said would be accommodated for a special celebration. When we arrived and saw that wasn't the case- we asked for a better one and they all of a sudden claimed that they were reserved and they proceeded to do that for each table that became open in that area- 4 total. They changed the story as they went along. They were originally not reserved. Then- they tried to block my attorney friend from coming in for wearing jeans and a collared shirt, but let a white male come in with a casual white T-shirt and shorts. It was pretty blatantly racist over and over again on many levels. Don't patronize them at all. There are other riverfront restaurants to go to where you will be treated better. read more

I went here for a business lunch and it was amazing, I've never been here before this - it was on a Wednesday and it was packed that's how you know the food is good! We had a seafood tower to start with and that was awesome it comes with shrimp, sashimi, lobster tail, oysters and a bunch of sauces. For the entree, I had the filet mignon - excellent steak great quality and tasted fantastic with the celebration sauce it came with. @chicagocut.steakhouse was a bit disappointing this year. I didn't post food bc it was 0 stars. Hubs steak wasn't as flavorful and fall of the bone as before. My prime rib was awful. The worst part about my experience is that our server, Tony, continued to force what he wanted upon our table. Example: our teen said he didn't any salad he still brought out salad for him and says "just try it". Not to mention leaving our table in the middle of explaining the menu several times...literally would cut himself off and say "wait a sec" serve someone and wouldn't come back. I asked for a drink menu twice. It was ridiculous. Then my prime rib was ridiculously bloody. I really enjoyed this place. It's ambient, though louder than I expected. Still works as a date night spot. The service was great, our waiter made recommendations and checked in frequently to make sure all was well. Was in town for a work meeting and this was the place that was chosen for our big group meal. Half of our group walked to the restaurant due to the traffic while the others took an uber. Guess what? We made it all at the same time. LOL. I ordered the Dijon Herb-crusted rack of lamb and I had tuna tartare. I'll be honest I wasn't a fan of the breading on the chops but the flavor was decent. We ended up sitting outside on the river getting nice views as the sunset over the water. I did end up walking back to the hotel to not be stuck in traffic and walked down the big meal that I had just ate. The bathroom is in a weird corner in the back of the restaurant. We had dinner at Chicago Cut Steakhouse, I ordered the bone-in ribeye cooked medium rare, and it came out perfectly--juicy, flavorful, and exactly what you'd want if you're a ribeye fan. If that's your go-to cut, this is definitely a spot worth checking out. Jen had the filet mignon, also cooked medium rare, and it was incredibly tender and delicious. For sides, we shared the creamy mashed potatoes and corn. Both were excellent, and the portions are generous enough to share, which worked out perfectly for us. We each ordered an espresso martini, which was a nice touch--shaken and poured tableside, and very well done. For dessert, we tried the molten lava chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. The flavor was good, but the center wasn't quite "lava" as expected--it was more cakey than molten. Still enjoyable, just not exactly what we anticipated. The food on the other hand wasn't my all time favorite. I started with the burrata and heirloom. The burrata was melted when served with no flavor. I also got the bone in filet. It was good not great. It was a large amount of bone. There were like 4 slices of filet that were good. The truffle scalloped potatoes came out over cooked. My opinion I think the pancetta was a bit much when mixed with truffle. The broccolini was pretty good. The dessert and cocktails were my favorites. Sat inside, closest to the river and fun outdoor seating. Watched a waiter getting dressed in the corner. Shirt, tie, jacket. He ended up being our waiter and he was great, but a tacky first impression. The environment is extremely loud and hectic. They basically bring bulk food to your table and literally four people surround the tray and plate your food. It is chaotic and sloppy plating. Pretty bizarre. We ordered an Old Fashioned and had two glasses of wine. All great. Ordered Chilean Sea Bass. Excellent. West coast and east coast oysters. Excellent. I ordered a Bone in Filet, medium rare for $104. Farthest from the bone was closer to medium well. By the time I got to the bone, it was so rare that it was still purple. The sear hid the poor cook on the steak. Baked potato, large, but just fine. That order cost us around $325 before tip. There were two tables inside with people actually screaming for most of the dinner. Staff did nothing but look at them. Our $325 was probably about mid range for two people. For that price, the tasteless environment was unacceptable. I think if you get outdoor riverside seating and order as cheaply as possible, you will be fine, but if you are looking for a nice, classy, date night and are okay with spending $400-$500, this place is not it. We had a busy weekend with a lot of reservations. This place was the only place that did not send me a message asking for feedback. Well, now you have it. The staff overall is absolutely attentive, but the results out of the kitchen are, meh, and their acceptance of screaming is pretty horrible. read more

I had hoped to return here much sooner after our last visit. But it took six years for that to happen. And the food, ambiance, and service were just as good and impressive as last time. Again at our request we were seated on the patio that overlooked the Chicago River. The "L" kept clacking along slightly above us, and tour boats glided by below. Again, the sound of emergency vehicles' sirens became a common backdrop to our meal. This time a heat lamp was nearby to take away some of the late-October chill. We began our first dinner in Chicago on this cross-country trip with two hot Jumbo Stone Crab Claws with Drawn Butter at $45.00 a claw. Next for me was a crock of French Onion Soup that was just overflowing with cheese, and a Wedge Salad that consisted of two upright wedges filled with tomato slices, Bacon Lardons, Maytag Bleu Cheese Crumbles, and Bleu Cheese Dressing. For entrees, Diane selected Chilean Sea Bass with Miso Glaze and crispy Hash Browns, while I opted for an 8 oz. medium rare Filte Mignon with two Tristan Lobster Tails, Drawn Butter, and Shitake and Crimini Mushrooms , plus a Baked Potato with fxings. My Filet was medium rare s ordered, everything was delicious, and the lobster was sweet. Diane topped off the evening by ordering and savoring a large slice of moist Carrot Cake. Service by Parker and his assistants was impeccable, and the ambiance superb. The final tab, including tip, with no alcohol, was over $400.00, even after the manager on duty gave Diane a generous military discount. This meal for two at Chicago Cut cost more than the dinner for ten that we hosted at Chesapeake Seafood in Springfield, Illinois two days before. So I have learned this is a place that you go to "be seen" or say "I've gone there". When you are taking an order you should give your entire attention to your guest in a place like this. Not stopping every minute to talk to your assistant. Shocker when the steak comes out they were missing an item. First time flagging the manager and explained and got it quick. Ok so far I can deal with it. Showing on your menu that 1L of wine is $45 you do the math and decide to get it. They first say, "not sure if we have anymore". No problem. If not I have another option. To my surprise they came back with a glass of it. Fine no biggie, just figured they would refill that way. Ok. Lobster Mac n cheese, came out like cold. Not warm, cold. Flagged down manager second time, let her know and she replaced it. For the record, they were absolutely amazing when it came out the second time hot. Got dessert, which so may options, amazing. However the other table next to us was getting their plates cleared. Literally 2 feet from my face while I'm trying to eat my dessert. For a place like this and the amount you pay. Honestly unacceptable. Now the bill comes. Well, they explain the wine is $45 a GLASS not a liter. Told them we wouldn't have gotten that. Manger agreed and sad I know I have told the regional manager this many times. Ok then Fix it regional manger. She did remove both glasses which is nice but wait, was charged for 2 Mac n cheese. So had to remove the second one. In the end, we will not be back. We live here we aren't tourist as we were asked when we first sat down. Which not sure why that's matters. Do yourself a favor. Location and staff were great. Really busy on a weeknight, which is usually a good sign. No issues there. Food was very mixed, sad to say. The Crab Cake was the best part of the meal - one of the best I've had (yes, I've had crab cakes in the Chesapeake Bay region). Large, very little filler, moist, tender, full of delicate crab flavor, crisp coating. Just great. The mixed greens on the side were a nice touch, a mini-salad you could say. This could almost be a light meal on its own. The Demonico, ordered medium rare was underdone. Actually a bit cold on part of it. It looked the same as another diner's rare steak, so maybe they erred on my order? I didn't send it back (it would have been awkward in the company I was with) and just ate around the edges. Possibly sat around before being served because the fat lacked that melt-in-your-mouth quality that i expect of proper steaks. And not as flavorful as most ribeyes or even NY steaks I've had at even midlevel restaurants, though I know they are of lesser quality. Disappointing considering the specialty. Side of grilled asparagus was just OK. Large spears, stems had the skins peeled, a nicetouch. They were properly cooked, a bit a dente, which is how I like them. Just didn't have any flavor. I grill lots of veggies at home including asparagus, and always toss with olive oil and garlic and seasonings. So maybe it's a style thing. Side of whipped potatoes was bland. I don't recommend them. No texture, no taste. Didn't taste like fresh potatoes and didn't have sufficient fat content (no butter and/or sour cream flavor). Just starchy. Can't really explain it. Not a hard dish to make. I was really looking forward to dining here. Other than the crab cake, can't really vouch for the rest of my order. Haven't written a review in years. Mother's Day brunch was a disappointment. I'm definitely bummed after that. I've had better food at several resort buffets in Mexico. No steak and eggs options and the only meat option was a prime rib that was comically too rare (even for prime rib), cold, and flavorless even with generous au jus. The shrimp were frozen and the scrambled eggs were like what they serve in the dorms in college. I've come to Chicago Cut many times and will keep coming back. LOVE the Cajun ribeye and get it every time. Other favorites are the truffle potatoes, Brussels sprouts, kale & quinoa salad. My only critique is around atmosphere. The seating can feel a little crowded inside, with tables fairly close together (Note the volume is still low enough for conversation).
