Cocktails were very good. The food for a fine restaurant was decent but the overall experience and service was great.

Four of us came here for dinner and cocktails on a Thursday evening. The service was great, and the setting was lovely. I started with a "French 75" (Honeoye Falls Flower City Gin, Simple Syrup, Lemon Juice, and Sparkling Wine). It was a great start to a fun and tasty evening. We then shared two of the most delicious Caesar salads. Fresh romaine lettuce with croutons and lots of Parmesan cheese topped with just the right amount of dressing. Two salads were ample for four of us to share along with bread service....at an extra charge.... but worth it for the great choice and even better butter. Next we shared two pizzas: one with pepperoni and anchovies, and the other half margarita and half mushroom (yes.... the put two different half's in one pan). The pizzas were tasty with fresh and flavorful toppings and a thin and crispy crust. There's a wonderful choice of entrees that I can't wait to taste next time I'm here. And, yes.... This upscale restaurant with a revolving bar right in the heart of downtown Buffalo is a must see. It's part of the Curtiss Hotel and it was so fun and inviting! Everything on the menu looked delicious but we really wanted to try some pizzas so we sat at the bar (pizzas are only available at the bar). We ordered the charred octopus with roasted chickpeas and it was amazing! We licked the plate clean. The Parma pizza with prosciutto, fig and Gorgonzola was very interesting - lots of salty flavors and sugar at the same time. I wouldn't recommend it to most people unless you're craving dessert for dinner. The White Pizza with roasted mushrooms and truffle was out of this world. The taste was amazing and definitely hit the spot. The drinks were great too. We loved our server, she was very sweet and friendly. After dinner we went up to the rooftop to enjoy the fire and views of downtown overlooking the Lake. It was beautiful. I'll be back next time I'm in Buffalo! read more

I would say my review is a 4.5/5. I met some acquaintances at the bar while waiting for a few others. (There were six total in our group.) I had a Buffalo Sour. It had a brandied cherry in it. The drink was fantastic. The last person in our group got to the bar shortly after I paid for my drink, so we were immediately seated. They had a separate hostess, someone pouring water and clearing dishes, and someone else taking our order. It definitely was a high class establishment. We all came there for a restaurant week "deal". I ordered the chicken a la vodka. It came with choice of soup or salad. There were two choices of soup, one of which was Philly cheesesteak soup, which was what I ordered. The waitress said that we could order french onion soup but there would be an up charge. She immediately came back to the table to mention that they didn't have it anymore, but the couple at the table next to us had french onion soup!!! One of the employees kept coming over to refill our waters. When my Buffalo Sour was gone, the waitress never returned to ask if I wanted another drink, she only asked the people who were seated closer to the aisle. I didn't take off a full star because the Philly cheesesteak soup came out in an interesting bowl and it was so delicious! Most of the women I came to hang out with ordered salad. I was happy with my choice to get the soup though. Also, the chicken a la vodka was fantastic!!! It had shaved chicken and prosciutto with peas and onion entangled around cavatappi pasta. I ate some and had enough for two additional meals!!! The restaurant was clean and elegant. The staff were very nice and professional. I went there with co-workers for dinner before the theater. We started off with a glass of wine & the fresh baked breads. I shared the Gnocchetti & Scallops with one of the girls & I am glad I did too much food. It was amazing. The gnocchetti was like nothing I ever eaten before. My boyfriend and I came here on the 4th of July during the bar's soft open. We only got drinks as the food prices were astronomical. The bar had no cocktail menu yet, but one of the bartenders assured us that they could make anything we wanted. The gentlemen were all immensely polite and professional. They introduced themselves and walked us through the drink making process as they were getting them together for us. I started out with a Tom Collins and my boyfriend ordered a Godfather, which very few bartenders in our experience have heard of. Not only had our bartender heard of it, he also knew how to make one as a Godfather sour. It was even more delicious than my Tom Collins and came with a brandied cherry, which they make in house. Apparently ALL of their syrups and garnishes are prepared in house. At about this time, I finally realized that the bar had revolved. It was the coolest part of the whole experience. I've never been somewhere with a revolving floor before so I was really tickled by the novelty. We made it about 3/4 of the way around the entire bar. I next ordered a Godmother sour (this has vodka instead of whiskey) and my boyfriend got a B-52, which involves Kahlua, cream, and Grand Marnier. It was layered perfectly and my own drink was delicious. My only problem was the bill. It was over $50 for four drinks, which seems overpriced. It was a special occasion, however, so I think it was worth the experience. I loved the decor of the bar, restaurant, and hotel in general. What a grand, gorgeous place. We went here specifically for the rotating bar. Sounded cool. It was not on and we had to ask for it to be turned on. Insanely slow. Not so cool. Bar has a huge fruit fly problem which has apparently been a problem for awhile. Bartender stated drains need professionally cleaned out. Watched the waitress bring back three drinks with fruit fly's in them. Pretty limited menu. Ordered a lobster pizza. Had one maybe two pieces of lobster on each slice for $22. About what I expected. If you're the type of gal that likes to wear a cute dress, sit at the bar, have a martini and a plate of delicious food all while people watching, well this is your type of place. First if you're at the 360 bar, order the grapefruit martini. It's refreshing, not too sweet, and very pretty in the hand. Now the food. My favorite dish has to be the crispy burrata. A crispy outside and a cheese middle, what's not to love. Add some tomatoes and balsamic to cut the fat, dynamo. The spanish octopus is also good. Not the best octopus I've had in buffalo, but with the red pepper romesco sauce and fresh fennel pull it together. Pork Belly was good (always a safe choice). Absolutely phenomenal. Best salmon and seafood risotto I've ever had. Delicious caesar salad. Fantastic dessert that changes daily. Boyfriend got the duck and he loved it along with the wedge salad. We recently dined here for my wife's birthday, along with another couple! The service was fantastic, starting with the host (Bruce) and our waiter (I think his name was Terrence). We ordered appetizers including the clams, oysters, octopus and French onion soups. Everything was excellent! Our entrees included the pork Ragu, the short rib special and the Sunday "sauce", with meatball! Everything was serviced timely, hot and delicious! We ordered several bottles of wine and were very happy with our selection! The waiter was attentive and very engaging and fun! Most of the entrees are on the pricier side, but not super expensive. The pizzas are probably the best bang for the buck. I had the large Tagliatelle. It was very good and a decent sized portion. The wine list is fairly extensive, with a fair number offered by the glass and not just by the bottle. I had a riesling which was good and served chilled. read more

The Curtiss is a 5 star hotel for a reason! I can be so picky when it comes to cocktails, but their hand-crafted choices are the best around. They can be a bit pricey, but they are worth it. The environment here is very fun and quirky. We came because we heard about the promotion for a free entree (up to $35) the week of your birthday. We took advantage of the $15 bottle of wine special they run during the week (I believe it was Sunday - Wednesday 4-10pm). Service was good and friendly. We ordered the small charcuterie board to start and it was great. Healthy portion there. Entrees we ordered were the filet with risotto and cavatappi. My husband ordered medium rare and his steak was more like medium/medium well. The risotto and the cavatappi both were underseasoned and needed more salt. Tldr: good charcuterie and specials. We came here (our first time eating) for my boyfriends birthday and took advantage of their free birthday meal (entree up to $35). The decor is absolutely beautiful and there is a lot of seating. We ended up over on the Huron Street side near all the windows and it reminded me of a French cafe. We started out with some drinks, which were nice but realized that we weren't given bread. We later saw it was on the menu for $8. I had the filet mignon with asparagus and mushroom risotto. It was plated beautifully and was cooked perfect medium rare. The steak could have had a little crust on the outside but the flavor was good. In my opinion the risotto was a touch mushy and possibly slightly over salted. Not at all bad but in my opinion I'd prefer to have a more memorable steak and I'd like more for a $49 meal. My boyfriend had the short rib with mash and carrots. After cutting into the short rib he found that half of it was a chunk of pure fat. After flagging down the waiter he agreed that it was too fatty and took his plate away and asked if he wanted the same or something different. He still wanted the short rib so about 8-10 minutes later a hot, fat-free dish came back out and all was right in the world. The short rib, both times, was a nice portion, very hot and was extremely tender. No complaints at all. The mash and carrots were also perfectly cooked too. We ended the meal with the bananas foster bread pudding with gelato. What a pleasant end to a meal, the bread pudding was hot and gooey and cover in caramel sauce. The gelato was a perfect touch. The service was very good and our server resolved our issue right away. We plan on coming back for this desert and the weekday $15 bottle of wine special. read more

This was a god awful experience. First there was no bread basket unless you paid for it. The drinks were $13 each! I ordered the bone in rib eye which came without a bone. When I sent it back, the waitress brought it back one minute later and threw it in front of me telling me the chef said there was a bone. While I searched for the bone the manager came over to tell me their idea of a bone in was a tiny bone. He cut me off every time I tried to explain the benefits of a real bone in steak. I gave up and started to eat the steak. The first three bites contained bone chips. I left them on the plate and called the rude waitress over, sent the steak back and refused to pay for it. No apology from the manager for a $54 steak riddled with bone chips. With so many great restaurants in buffalo I would advise to skip this one. read more

I came here excited to experience the hype but was disappointed Food was okay but nothing extraordinary. I had the special pork shank and my wife the squid ink pasta with crab. We were not presented the specials and had to ask, which we found odd. Portions were appropriate. Unfortunately the food was overpriced for the quality. We were seated along the windows that face the street/parking. I had made a reservation many days in advance and the dining room had many tables open so I'm not sure why that was. The tables where we sat were so close together that in order for the server to set down or remove plates at the table behind me, I had to move every time. Mind you I'm 5'6 120lbs and the gentleman behind me probably 5'9 170 lbs. Additionally, across from where we sat is an area where water can be filled and a register is located. Along the counter there, I witnessed at least 4 different employees walk by dirty plates with left over food or what not as well as empty wine glasses that were set there for at least 30 minutes before being removed. Maybe it was an off Saturday night but the service was awful...Perhaps the slowest and least attentive I have personally suffered in all of Buffalo: After being seated it took 10 minutes for someone to greet us and offer water. However after that, 35 minutes went by before water was brought to our table -- we had to remind them. We probably finally ordered at 45 minutes into the reservation. It was obviously well over an hour before we actually had any food at all. The party next to us decided to pay up front because they had waited for their check for such a long time. read more

A delightful treat! Beautiful restaurant. Attentive staff, great selections on menu for lunch and dinner at a variety of price points. We were having a romantic night away and stayed at Curtiss Hotel, in which restaurant is housed. Beautiful property with revolving bar, rooftop bar and a hot springs. We had a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, which was a touch sweeter than I prefer though still refreshing. My husband had the octopus appetizer which came with a chili sauce and was very tasty. I had the burrata starter, which was just ok. It came fried and with an heirloom tomato salad, which was tasty. I had the duck entree with roasted carrots, which was well seasoned and delicious. My husband enjoyed his scallop entree, though the portion was on the small side for the price. We had a great stay and a lovely meal! read more

We decided to try this place out after seeing a promotion on Facebook about getting a free lunch with one order of lunch during weekdays. I decided to call just to make sure the promotion was still going on. The lady who picked up was nice at first, but after mentioning the free lunch, she wasn't as nice and sounded a bit stuck up. We decided to go anyway. The place is really nice, and I can say the "Chez Burger" was one of the best burgers I've had in Buffalo. My friend got the "French Dip au jus" which wasn't that flavorful to be honest and tasted more like a bland roast beef than steak. The thing that really bothered us though was that they charged $5 for the fries on the side of the burger, which is ridiculous in my mind. They are always free in all the restaurants, and they weren't even good fries, just normal fries. The waiter was polite, but could have been more friendly. They did not automatically apply the promotion, and we had to remind them about it, which was not something I enjoyed doing. All in all, I would recommend trying it, but they can definitely make some improvements, especially regarding the manner of the staff. If they think they are above giving free food to their customers, they shouldn't have such promotions to begin with. read more

First, I can't actually judge most of the menu. Only two dishes are vegetarian. I had the gnocchi because the sweet potato seemed like it would be terribly sweet. Sweet potato marinated in honey - I'm sure it's fun for some people. The gnocchi was different than most I've had. It was lightly fried, but it seemed to reduce the fluffy-ness of the gnocchi. Instead of being dense, it was like having fried dough. The fried aspect was worse with the garbanzo beans - they were reduced to crunchy, hollow balls. The most disappointing part was the tiramisu. You get a lot of tiramisu in the order - it is for 2 - but it was entirely bland. It's like they didn't use coffee, liquor, or chocolate at all. It was mainly the cheese part and dry/soft lady fingers. I loooove tiramisu, but I couldn't actually finish my portion of it. We decided to dine out for Thanksgiving so we went to this restaurant. Love dining in the glass enclosed area of this restaurant because it opens up the room and you don't feel crowded. It also allows you to view the street which is cool. We started with a salad that was so fresh, didn't have a lot of dressing and was perfectly prepared. Turkey meal was so good and tender meat, hot mashed, and beans. The server was amazing. Not only efficient and attentive, she was just a doll! Believe her name was Petya. Can't wait to go back. Drinks are fairly expensive for what I would prefer but good....Unfortunately not consistent between bartenders though as I had 2 of the same drink that were very different. Food itself was tasty (Beef tartare!!) but it was slow to come and they did give us the wrong dessert. They didn't charge us for it but when we got our bill they put another customer's bill on to ours.... and corrected... but there were maybe 4 couples at the bar so it's a little ridiculous they couldn't keep it straight. read more

Went for their weekend getaway package. Had a fabulous salad to start and then the food went downhill real quick from there. I ordered the braised short ribs with polenta. I ordered the scallops- the scallops alone were great but the salad that came with was overly vinegary-and didn't go with the scallops at all. My husband ordered the mushroom pizza which was very rich with strong garlic. My son had the roasted chicken with sweet potato bacon hash. Very salty and chicken was bland. My daughter had the monkfish. Best dish of all. Another had the chicken Milanese. Very good but tomatoes were overly marinated. Overall, I'd choose another Buffalo restaurant next time. I reviewed the restaurant associated with this establishment after i was served raw salmon on valentines day while being 8 months pregnant. The manager did not come to our table to apologize about the raw food either. Yesterday, I receive a Facebook private message from an unknown person asking why i was so angry? i was confused as i had not posted any angry rants. After some investigation, i realized the message was from the owner of this hotel as he was upset about my poor review.
