Prices cannot be beat during the happy hour for these seafood delicacies which are costly otherwise. I was out at Perla on a Wednesday recently to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday with a group of friends. We had a great time and our server was such a sweet guy. The Woodfire pizzas are very good if you're not into seafood. Those you have to order from the regular menu. The menu is too limited for the happy hour. I knocked off one star because of this. There's usually a live band during this time, but we did not have one on the Wednesday that we attended unfortunately. I would definitely come back for the oysters! read more

In my 38 years on this earth I experienced a first at Perla while trying to catch a happy hour. Never saw a bartender throw a tantrum up until today. While reviewing the happy hours specials I noticed "bottled and draft beers: $5.95". Not the greatest deal but went with it. I then proceeded to order 2 Corona Extras. We enjoy ourselves, finish our drinks, and now it's bill time. After reviewing the bill we notice that my Coronas were charged at $8.95 each. We bring this up to the bartender and are told "that's only for domestics"; not anywhere on the menu is this stated (don't worry I double checked). We ask if this is an error in our favor to which the magic happens. We must have said the magic words to this dirty blond bartender because that's when the tantrum happens. She then proceeds to reach into her tip jar and throw a single dollar bill and four quarters in front of us (technically still owed us $4). I've never seen such blatant disrespect and utter lack of candor or customer service. There's 100s of different ways to handle that situation if she disagreed with our thought on the bill and her reaction was literally the worst one. I had all intentions of coming back because we thoroughly enjoyed our time until literally the last minute. Obviously, we will not be back and I will share this experience with anyone that asks me about this place Take my experience for what it is and be mindful of the service (or for the love of God don't try and call them out on their specials!). We went with friends of ours to Perla. Really felt the place was extremely noisy. Very difficult to talk. That was the whole reason for going out with other couples just to talk together, but we couldn't. Food was mediocre. Definitely overpriced. Just went for the first time. Was excited to go to ladies night. Our experience was AWFUL. Our server Mason, was so unknowledgeable. We asked if classic margaritas were on the ladies night menu he said "I believe so" then when we got our bill and were charged full priced, I asked about them being a part ladies night and he lied right to my face and said "I didn't say that". Delicious! Evan was fantastic!! We ordered oysters, octopus, halibut tacos a d steak sandwich! Delicious, i think these are the best oysters around . So much flavor. Evan ( i hope that his his name ) was amazing, place was packed and he was running pretty good , even came over and apologized when our wine took too long from the bar numerous time! The last two times we tried to go for seafood happy hour we were in for a shock . One time we were told it was canceled because it was valentine's day( no mention on the website) . The second time we tried to go but there was a sign saying it was closed for a private party, (also no mention of this on the website) I had received an email that very day advertising the fish fry special they were running that night. The place is nice looking. The service is absolutely horrendous. I felt bad for the only two servers running around the whole place. Our server was absent most of the time, didn't see her for 30 minute stretches. Sat without drinks for a long time, went to the bar to order and they said they couldn't get me drinks, that I would have to start a new tab. I said just put it on our tables bill and she said she couldn't, so went back to the table and sat for another 15 minutes waiting around. The food sat out for a long time so when we got our pizza and wings they were cold. My oysters were very tiny. This place has potential but right now it's not very good and mismanaged. read more

Service was extremely slow. Took over 10 minutes to have a server came over for drinks. We waited at least 30 minutes for my pizza. Which was basically not edible because there was so much olive oil on it that it was dripping. My husband's sandwich didn't come out for almost a full 20 minutes after my pizza. read more

We came for the oysters and unfortunately, we were served 1 rotten one which ruined our experience. We called the man shucking the oysters over to let him know (as you can get really sick and even die from eating oysters that are dead). You are supposed to knock them to make sure they're alive. He was wearing headphones and watching tv. Seemed very annoyed we called him over. When we told him what happened, he shrugged his shoulders and said I don't eat them. Will not return. Came on a Friday night at the tail end of happy hour, and had a good experience. Located on the Transit-side of the building, I love that the atmosphere is bright and modern. It was packed while we were there, with many people sitting at the bar, and most of the tables full as well. Just a heads up, it was pretty loud. Half of the drink menu is bourbon, but there's also wine, cocktails, and you can ask about beer on tap. I had the I'm Still Standing cocktail which was very good! For appetizers, we enjoyed oysters (sold in multiples of 4) and the grilled octopus, which was surprisingly good and came with a white bean salad. For dinner, we split the bee sting pizza which was drizzled with honey and delicious. I'd love to come back here again. Heard about this via Spiel the Wine https://www.wgrz.com/spielthewine and we decided to try it last night. Had oysters, the grilled octopus, and the honey sting pizza. All were delicious. I'd never had octopus before but thought if I was going to try it here would probably be a good place since all the Salvatore restaurants have a good reputation. It was firm but not chewy and tasted good. I'll definitely have it again. Wine list includes most common varieties and there's a nice cocktail list. read more

Was excited to try Perla for the first time. It was my birthday and we even met the owner at the front desk. I complimented his appearances on Spiel the Wine t.v. show and told him it was my birthday. The place is nice looking, the waiter was fine, but the food was bland and uninspired. The chicken wing dip was tasteless and greasy and served with homemade potato chips. We thought tortilla or pita chips would've been better. I ordered the scallops and rigatoni. I got 3 scallops which were burnt on one side and raw on the other. A small dish of pasta in a bland sauce. My husband ordered Chicken Milanese which was basically a breaded and fried cutlet drizzled with balsamic sauce. Desserts were in the $15 range so we passed. The dining experience was not enjoyable. There was an extremely loud DJ playing during dinner hours, so loud that our table left with hoarse voices from trying to talk amongst ourselves. The food is very steeply priced for the quality, consistency, and service. The space is not cohesive nor is the ambiance. The menu does not match the dishes that are ordered. I would like to go back on a night when there are specials and the space is not so loud to give this new spot another try, as Salvatore's has a great reputation for amazing food in Buffalo. read more

Like everything the Salvatore's do , high quality food, great decor and high prices. We started out with Oysters and they had a great selection and we're fresh and delicious. Next we go their lobster rolls . They had a decent amount of lobster and were very tasty. Service was terrific. Lots of parking. We'll definitely be back to try their pizza and other menu items. Pros- our server was nice and attentive , drinks were ok, modern ambiance. Cons- Food. We ordered two salads with added chicken breast for approx $25 each. Chicken tasted prepackaged, not fresh. The amount of chicken (strips) given was ridiculously small. My friend got the arugula salad and it was half the size of my Vermont salad! It was literally like a small dinner salad- also served on a smaller plate! We got a confusing response when we asked about it. Server said that salad was made somewhere else. What?? I was so excited to try Perla for date night. As the other reviewers mentioned it is cold and very loud. You could hear the dj playing in the other restaurant while the music was blasting where we were. We started with the oysters which were very good, however I had just started my second oyster when the pizzas came out. The food should have been timed better. We ordered two pizzas The fungi came out very nice but the other pizza was so burned it had to be sent back. The pizzas were nothing special. Also, the smell of burned fish in the pizza oven was very overwhelming. Overall the ambience is nice but too many negatives. We will not be returning. read more

Got a salad, pizza, and cheesecake to go as I was staying at the delevan for the night. It took over an hour to come out and was so gross. The salad looked like it came out of a bag, the stuffed banana pizza was cold and some pieces had banana peppers and some had nothing. The cheesecake was mediocre at best. If I could put 0 I would - We were there for a surprise bday - 5 of us - I arrived at 6 and waited 10 minutes before I saw a waitress - got a glass of wine which, note to all restaurants..smaller glasses makes the wine look like you're getting your money! The birthday girl arrives shortly after I put in my drink order and it took another 10+ minutes for her to get a drink so I put another drink in at the same time because I knew it was going to be a while before I'd get to order another drink - we put our food order in - 2 dinners and 3 pizzas - all ordered at the same time - the 2 dinners came out at around 7pm - the other three waited and waited and waited finally talking to the manager - excuse was dinners come from the kitchen - pizzas are behind the bar so they are made at two separate times - Sooooooo after 7:30 our pizza's come out - burnt on the bottom - nothing fancy - we did talk to a manager - she gave us "complementary" 6 small pieces of bread with an olive spread (which we didn't eat and the bday girl is gluten free) then offered a chocolate dessert to the bday girl which she said "fine but can we have 5 forks to share it" - the three pizza eaters had a slice each (it was getting late by then) and a to-go box for the rest. The birthday girl went to the bathroom and they brought out her dessert with a sparkler in it - we literally thought we were getting punked so jokingly we sang Happy Birthday to an empty chair. The slice of cake was like a sliver - It was Trivia night and they did have some type of work party at the bar area....HOWEVER not everyone was eating - a lot were drinking and playing trivia. It was the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in a very long time - and typically if things are slow it is because of being short staffed - I saw managers dressed in all black and lots of wait staff in white shirts and black pants - it was not from lack of employees - I will never go back there - and after reading all the other reviews there's more people that have had similar experiences - I wish I would have read the reviews before spending the money - My friend had a nice surprise birthday and we still left a very nice tip. Website says they're open on Wednesdays until 10pm, but we were told that their kitchen closes at 9pm. We never had a server. We communicated with 4 different people. Nobody that came by thought to take our plates that we were done with. We had to pick them up and hand it to them and their response looked surprised as if it wasn't their job. I'm not sure if anyone here was ever trained to serve. Clams casino were burned. Oysters weren't good. I really liked the lobster roll. We had to ask for our check. We had to go to the bar to pay. First of all, you arrive at this place and park in the back, there's no signage whatsoever, you just have to walk in and walk around until you find it. You have to walk through another restaurant before you get to Perla. Same thing if you are looking for a bathroom. Then you sit down and all the glassware and tables appear upscale but you look outside and see a trashy looking boulevard and a tire store. My plate and napkin were very dirty when we sat down. We put in wings and raw seafood for appetizers and waited close to 30 minutes for the raw seafood. Oysters weren't properly shucked and had to rip them out of the shell to eat them. Our server Sebastian was a nice kid but extremely slow and mumbled to himself whenever he came over to the table. Our first round of drinks were empty for ten minutes before he asked us if we wanted to get another round, at which point we had to ask him to put in entrees. He didn't know what went in a Negroni and had to ask me what spirit was in it when I asked what their well gin was. The drinks then clearly didn't get rang in and took another 10 minutes to get to us. I ordered a Negroni and it came with a straw and an orange slice lol. Pizzas were doughy and undercooked, toppings had no color and tasted not great. At the end of the meal we sat there for 20 minutes looking for Sebastian to ask for boxes and our check, but he just kept walking by with out even looking our way. We finally decided to flag down another server who told us Sebastian was in the weeds and got us our check so we could finally get out of there. What a fresh, fun place to meet up on Transit! Within the OG Salvatores lies this hip bar/restaurant with a small but curated menu. If you stop in during the holiday season, you also get to experience all of the Christmas decor on your way to the front of the building from the back lot. A manager greeted me upon arrival and mentioned they were newly renovated and he hoped we had a great time. My friend and I sat at the bar and had the opportunity to be served by a wonderfully friendly bartender who made sure our drinks were refilled and our food was delivered to our spot succinctly. We split some fresh PEI oysters, the wagyu beef carpaccio, the bee sting pizza, and a lobster roll. Everything was fresh and loaded with complimentary flavors. I have mixed feelings about Perla. I found the menu, food and service to be good but the ambiance not to my liking. I wasn't fond of the majority of the seating being high top and the noise level is more like a night club than a restaurant. I was sitting adjacent to my wife and literally had to move so we were shoulder to shoulder to hear her. Even then we kept repeating ourselves. It wasn't just us as the waitress has to lean in to hear us. Maybe if they worked on the acoustics it would be better. The food and service though were good. Everything here is small plates and artisan pizzas. We started out with oysters, clams and shrimp. Oysters and clams were excellent but the shrimp seemed sub par and not what I've seen elsewhere as jumbo. Next we had an arugula salad. It was good but I thought it could have been bigger. We finished with a fungi pizza. This was excellent and perfectly baked. Not sure if I'll return. I liked our food but just couldn't enjoy the atmosphere. read more

We went there on Friday evening for the alleged "happy hour". Horrible bar tender that scolded us when we sat at the bar only to be told those seats were "saved seats" and slamed down a reserved sign. A very nice couple at the end of the bar said they were leaving and we could have their seats. We should have left and went to Salvatores bar, where we have always had great service (and we compensate our servers!) The drink prices were outrageous. We ordered off the "menu," and we were charged an entirely different price. We had one drink, paid our bill, and left. We will not be back. It was also cold and loud. We had such a blast at perla for trivia on Tuesday! The drinks are amazing, all tequila based but very creative and tasty ! The tacos are amazing as well, $3 each, you have to order 2 of the same, bang bang shrimp, blackened halibut and southwest chicken..all delicious! The staff was so accommodating and personable! Went on a Saturday night. Service was decent but food was meh. 3 of the 4 oysters that I bought were angled up hard in the ice bed, with all the brine drained out. How is this an oyster bar?? So much of what makes an oyster so amazing is the brine. Really disappointed. The crab cake was disgusting. It was crab paste molded into a small skillet and baked. It was a mushy salty $23 disaster that was sent back. Pizza was good. "Crumbled and Carmelized" A band was playing, and the acoustics are awful. I really wanted to like this place. Our server was really nice and very attentive. But the "artisanal" pizza was terrible. Ordered a simple pepperoni and mozza pizza. The crust was terrible. Our server insists that it is made in house but if so, they need another baker. The pizza is supposed to be Neapolitan style but the crust ruined it. Likewise, we ordered margaritas and they were awful. Not the worst I've had but for the price, it just wasn't worth it. They were served in a rock glass, no salt rim and the base tasted like a pre-made mix (our server said it wasn't but...). The only saving grace was our server who was a really nice guy. He was obviously doing his best. If you're coming here for pizza, don't. Stick with the seafood and avoid the margaritas. read more
