Back at our favorite bakery. We got our usual goodies. Red bean bun, onion pastry, pork sung bun, custard pineapple cake, and etc. Service is fine. Cash only.
I knew before coming back to Cherry blossom that the egg tarts were not the way they used to be. We got here this morning and my husband ordered four eight tarts and I immediately ate my warm egg tart. It was not as good as it used to be. The crust was soggy and tasted only of grease. The egg custard itself was not custardy but had just a sweet plain egg flavor. A good egg custard tart should have a flakey non-greasy crust and a rich custardy flavor. Their egg custard tarts had no soul. We will not be getting our egg tarts from here anymore.

Solid chinese bakery in Richmond, I believe its cash only. Super affordable. My routine is strawberry matcha down the street and then pick up bread here. I've tried a number of items here- raisin, pinneaple, hot dog, custard, red bean black sesame, etc. Everything here has been very good and its fresh. My personal favorites have been pinneaple bun (they have minis as well) and the red bean black sesame.
Stumbled into Cherry Blossom Bakery while walking around Richmond after lunch. The lady behind the counter was quick, and efficient. And the bakery was bright with natural sunshine from their large windows. They have a bunch of baked goodies on display. Seeing they had egg tarts, I bought a few. Also bought banana rolls, because it's a childhood nostalgic sweet treat. I brought them home and their tarts were still warm! The custard was soft and creamy and the crust was flakey! Like most egg tarts, they weren't too sweet. Though reading other reviews, the tarts are inconsistent. I thought the crust was flakey, while others have said it wasn't flakey. Maybe I got a new batch that just came out of the oven. If it was in the fridge, I would heat it up in the toaster oven for it to taste better. And the banana rolls were also good and chewy and not as sweet as the ones I used to get in Chinatown. I'd rather have it less sweet than too sweet. You get 3 for $4.25. Glad I stopped by and grabbed my favorites! If I'm in the neighborhood again, I'll be sure to get more of these yummy egg tarts and possibly try other pastries. 4/5

Came in the AM and everything was freshly baked and you can definitely tell since everything feels light and fluffy and some buns were still warm. My favorites were the pineapple custard bun and BBQ pork bun. I will definitely be back to try more next chance I get! On a weekday afternoon, my friends and I were welcomed into the bakery and had a wide selection of pasties to choose from. We grabbed almost a dozen pineapple buns with some other miscellaneous pastries, including their BBQ Pork Puff Pastry and Sponge Cake. The BBQ Pork Puff Pastry was flaky and crispy, and the pork filling inside was quite delicious! The Sponge Cake also had a good texture, being light and not too dense. I'd love to try one of their other pastries in the future!

This bakery has such an assortment of goods. We walked in on a Friday afternoon. The pineapple custard buns were great -- the right amount of filling and crust was tasty. The pork buns tasted a bit old / stale and the inside had too much fat in the interior.
Their mooncakes are so yummy! It tasted fresh and softer than the store bought ones. No need for the preservative packets. I've never tried freshly baked mooncakes until now. It definitely tastes much better. It comes with 4 plastic bags to put the mooncakes in if you need to bring it somewhere.
This place has such good buns! I got the mini pork buns and the ham and egg buns. The pork buns were super tasty and filling as they had a pretty good amount of meat. It was a bit doughy but I like that texture! The ham and egg buns was amazing. The egg was so fluffy and soft and melted in my mouth. I do wish there was a bit more ham but overall it was delicious. I would come back!
I typically come here when I am in the area. The lady who greets me has always been friendly, and I like that they make the smaller pork buns. The egg tarts are great because of the flaky crust. Milk tea has a lot of flavor, and it is not the powdered stuff that people use for boba drinks. They have some seats to sit down for those who like to just enjoy their egg tarts over a cup of milk tea while enjoying that bakery smell.
I have been coming here for some time. On this visit, I purchased the following items: (1) Pineapple bun. This comes in small or large size. I usually get the small ones. (2) bun filled with ham and egg (3) bun filled with hot dog wiener (4) baked bbq pork bun (5) red bean bun They were all good. My favorite was the pineapple bun. My least favorite was the ham and egg bun. The buns/bread at this place can be a bit doughy. My daughter thinks they are too doughy but I like the bread. They are always fresh and soft and not too sweet. The lady at the front counter is friendly and efficient. I also like the fact that this place opens early. read more
This is your typical old school Chinese bakery. The prices are affordable compared to some of the bakeries in Chinatown. Walking in felt nostalgic while having fond memories grabbing pastries on the go with family since we love HK pastries. The lady running the shop was friendly and welcoming. You can't go wrong with their classic offerings like egg tarts, cocktail buns, and pineapple buns. The pastries may not be aesthetically pleasing since they are simple looking, but the taste makes up it all up. Don't let that fool you! I tried the flower sponge cake and sadly it was bit dry where it was a bit hard to swallow despite how soft and spongy it is. I visited an hour before closing, so perhaps this was not their fresh batch. Their cakes look good, so I'd come back for their birthday cakes next time. Last weekend was the end of one of my favorite and biggest annual festivals in San Francisco in Japantown which is the Cherry Blossom Festival. What if I told you can go to the Cherry Blossom everyday of the week and you don't need a Time Machine to be transported in the past or in the future. You don't have to travel to the biggest Cherry Blossom festival which happens every year in April at Americas capital Washington D.C and San Francisco's Japantown . This particular Cherry Blossom is known to have lots of buns and I get Déjà vu thinking about it. Located in San Francisco on Clement street it's called the Cherry Blossom Bakery. On a Spring stroll on Clement street I landed at the Cherry Blossom Bakery. Inside Cherry Blossom you won't find any anime , Pokémon ,Hello Kitty , origami or soba noodles but you will see lots of bunnies ( Not the Easter Bunny). There are all kinds of buns to choose from including a raisin bun. I decided to try their pineapple bun. It was a bit flakey like some in SF but it was so soft you can squeeze it. The buns were so tasty. I also tried the onion bun which was savory and soft and my new favorite . It was so good. I also tried their egg custard tarts and they were creamy and soft in the middle but got a flakey crust like some in SF. They were delicious and not too sweet. Enjoy the Cherry Blossom everyday of the week in the city of San Francisco with a bun or a mooncake . Come to the Cherry Blossom but it's not the annual festival weekend "celebration" in Japantown at the San Francisco" location"but it's a bakery in the Richmond District on Clement street with flavors that are "Asian" but the bake goods are to be enjoyed for any "occasion" This place is called Cherry Blossom but they do not sell any "flower"they sell buns which are not too sweet but not very "sour " like some in SF which means they make their own bake goods themselves with "flour"and they are open in the morning and closes around the "dinner hour " read more

Overcharged and POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Accusing me that I bought egg tarts. 2 ham and egg (2.30 x 2 = 4.60) 2 raisin buns (2.20 x 2 = 4.40) 2 pineapple buns for 3.70 2 cocktail buns for 3.70 Total should be $16.40 but they charged $20.80. Didn't realize it til we got home and then I called them and the lady was yelling that I bought egg tarts which I didn't. I told her to check the cameras. Wasted time and gas to drive back to get my $4.40 back and another customer there said they over charge her all the time so now she brings a calculator with her. It's not about the money, it's the principle. They know they overcharge and they do it often. Do you calculate when you buy food or groceries? I know I do but now I will. Do the math before you leave. I will not be coming here again. read more

I recently noticed on my last two visits that the amount of stuffing in their mini pork buns and coconut bow are not as generous as in past visits. Pictured is the coconut bun that was bought at the end of July and will be going elsewhere to purchase these items. Too bad as I used to like this place for these two items. read more

When making a trip to San Francisco, no visit is complete without visiting an authentic family owned-and-operated bakery. This takes me to "Cherry Blossom Bakery", a staple in the Inner Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco. From my knowledge, this is their original location while their newer spot opened around 2016 off of Ocean Ave in the Ingleside neighborhood. Going back to this spot, they are situated directly on Clement St. and tucked in between 9th & 10th Ave. If you decide on driving here, parking can be a challenge so it is best to arrive by rideshare as well as Muni buses that drop you off nearby. The hours of operation are quite generous as they are open 7 days a week from 6am-6:30pm which are very respectable times to get your savory sweets during sunrise or possibly a late-afternoon snack before the evening hours kick in. Keep in mind that this is a cash ONLY business so make sure you bring those $1's, $5's, and other bills when paying the cashier. I also wanted to add that there is no indoor seating here. The bakery itself is small but well lit and at any given time, you will see a ton of savory baked goods. What makes this place special is that much of their dough-filled treats are loaded with a ton of protein-packed foods including chicken, pork, beef, and other various fillings. Some of the more popular rolls include BBQ Pork Rolls, Durian (fruit filled) Rolls, Chicken Pies, Wrapped Hot Dogs, and much more. And as for the baked goods, you can find just about anything and everything including cupcakes, croissants, cakes, cookies, moon cakes, egg tarts, and much more. I've eaten at quite a bit of bakeries in San Francisco and the Bay Area for that matter. This place might be small but there's a BIG variety of options here. The sweet ladies that work behind the counter were friendly, attentive and patient as my lady and I decided to take a bag filled with treats on our drive home (which is in Sacramento). We ate an egg tart that same day while enjoying the fresh baked croissant the following day for breakfast. We also tried one of their Cream Rolls and a Mini Custard Bun; all at very reasonable prices. All in all, "Cherry Blossom Bakery" is a must try and excellent small business worth checking out. This is a good place to get mini pineapple custard buns for work. In order to get a pink box, you need to spend ~ $18, otherwise your order will be in a clear bag. I'm including pictures of items I didn't try, but will try in the future. I don't really like their BBQ buns or egg tarts. My go to for BBQ buns and egg tarts is Sunset Bakery on 9th @Judah. read more

Cherry Blossom is in our regular rotation of SF takeout dim sum/Chinese pastry spots - we like them best for their baked buns. It was a bit intimidating ordering for the first time when I came in, but it's pretty easy to point and choose items. We regularly get the baked pork buns, curry puff (super flaky pastry) and pineapple buns. So good! Super disgusting. I ordered corn bun in the middle i notice some is not soft and i thought it was ham. End up being sugar cane someone chew on it . So nasty ! Never coming back. Just ruined my whole morning read more

I stopped by here to grab some Chinese pastries and HK style milk tea because my 2 hr wait at the Chinese Embassy for my visa pick up. This place opened at 6am!!! I got an onion bun, ham and egg bun, sponge cake, hot dog bun, chicken pie, 3 mini BBQ pork buns and a HK style milk tea. All that cost ~ $18. The buns were perfectly soft and the slight sweetness was perfect. I really enjoyed the bun. They were exactly what I was expecting. The pie crust was flaky, but the filling was OK. The milk tea was perfect. I loved that they have the mini buns - BBQ pork, hot dog or red bean pineapple. The lady at the counter was quick and friendly. I live in the East Bay, but definitely would be buying from there if I'm in the area again. Highly recommended for fresh Chinese bread and pastries. read more

My favorite Asian bakery in Inner Richmond! This place was always my go to for egg tarts and other buns. Their egg tart had the perfect consistency. It also has a great balance between sweet and eggy. The crust is a flaky crust, no the solid crumbly crust. No need to go all the way to Chinatown for good egg tarts! They also have solid pineapple buns and pork buns. Everyone is nice there too! It can be intimidating when everyone mostly speaks Chinese. They're really sweet and fast. read more

I came into the store planning to take my time, choose what I wanted, and place my order all at once. But the staff (a woman) kept standing right next to me, repeatedly asking what I wanted even after I asked her to give me a moment. She started picking items before I finished deciding and asked if I wanted to use a box. I told her which items I wanted, but then she said the box wasn't full and told me to add more. I explained that I was only buying for three people and didn't need that many. Then she made a comment about how I was buying so little but still wanted a box -- the way she said it really came with an attitude and made me uncomfortable. That's when I told her to just use a bag instead. Honestly, it was such a small matter. If she had just politely explained that using a box requires a minimum number of items, I would've completely understood. But the way it was handled felt rude and unnecessary. I just wanted to shop in peace, not feel pressured or judged. read more

The pastries here are delicious! We always get the cocktail buns, and I personally love the barbecue pork buns. The only issue with this place is the service. The staff are not very nice. It doesn't matter if you speak Cantonese or not. The second-to-last time I came here, one of the staff members threw my friend's change towards her (on the counter) in a very aggressive, rude manner. It was honestly more funny than angering, haha. That same day, they seemed to be annoyed at all the customers, especially since someone ordered a ton of pastries but didn't have cash. (I believe this place is still cash-only.) If you can muster up the courage to go in and order a few things, highly recommend you check it out :) read more

Ordered a fruit cake for pick up. It was SO delicious, and reasonably priced. Called over the phone to place order but not exactly modernized with order# or confirmation codes so I just trusted the process lol and hoped it was ready for that day. And it was! Everyone enjoyed the cake and loved that "it's not too sweet" read more
