Place is super casual and located in down town Burlingame. We ordered the lemongrass chicken garlic noodles and vermicelli salad. Both were excellent. They put the sauce on the side and we had plenty leftover which I appreciate since I always feels like I don't get enough. The garlic noodles were rich, addicting and not too oily. My husband mentioned it used to be his go-to spot when he worked in the area, and he always got the lemongrass chicken with rice (which comes with a small salad and jalapeños). The flavors are on point, and it feels healthy since the chicken is grilled. I ordered the pork banh mi, and I really enjoyed the sandwich. It was slightly on the sweeter side, but the overall flavor profile was good. The bread wasn't TOO hard, which is always a plus! We ordered their curries, one with veggies, the other with dumplings and the garlic noodles with fried tofu. The curry tastes like the boxed curry with 2 pcs of carrots and one chunk of potato. It was almost non existent. Came with a (cold) hard boiled egg on the side. Dumplings were okay. The garlic noodles are good. Have to eat them fast because it dries up rather quickly. Okay let's talk about their lackluster curry bowl and horrible lemonade. Not a fan of either. The rice curry tastes like something that as mildly warmed up in the microwave with cheap curry aftertaste and the lemonade was just sugar water and didn't have a nice acidic balance. The wait was about 15-20 mins for 2 sandwiches with 2 orders (2-3 items each) in front of us. Food: if you want a Vietnamese inspired American sandwich, this is your place. If you wanted a banh mi, you would be disappointed. They do not use Vietnamese baguette for the banh mi. Instead, they use regular baguette that is hard and a bit stale. The mayo also tasted like store bought Japanese mayo. Ordered lemongrass pork and lemongrass chicken and both tasted fine. The flavoring was decent but there wasn't much meat in the sandwiches. The pork was very flavorful and had an amazing sauce that would have been great over rice. You also get the fish sauce on the side too. My only gripe is that mine wasn't really over a salad. It was just over lettuce and it ended up being half lettuce and half bean sprouts underneath. If I replace rice for salad, I was expecting mixed greens or something more substantial than lettuce. I didn't have the garlic noodles or Banh mi on this trip, but I was highly recommended these items when I got there by another customer. What veggies? It was like 30% veggie, 70% cooked wrapper inside. I've had better frozen store bought veggie eggrolls than this garbage. You get 4 eggrolls, I finished 1 and a half and gave the rest to a seagull at the park. Besides writing this review, feeding a seagull was my good deed for the day. While I was waiting for the eggrolls, there was a filthy table, rice and food on the floor. Worker did come out to greet a family but didn't bother to clean up a mess. The menu couldn't be simpler: spring rolls, bahn mi, garlic noodles, and rice/vermicelli bowls are the only items you'll find, in addition to drinks like lemonade and milk tea. Though simple, the food was surprisingly fresh and tasty for what it was. My pick was the vermicelli bowl with two crispy chicken rolls. On a bed of vermicelli rice noodles came lettuce, cucumber, pickled daikon/carrot, cilantro, and a generous ramekin of nuoc cham, or sweetened fish sauce. But the best part of the bowl by far was the chicken spring rolls, which were freshly fried, perfectly crispy on the outside, and flavorful on the inside! Add on a little sriracha for an extra kick, and this makes for a tasty meal! I also tried the meatball bahn mi, a sandwich of sliced meatballs paired with lettuce, cucumber, cilantro, and pickled carrot/daikon. Poor service and argumentative staff, over sauce! The online order clearly states that the peanut sauce is INCLUDED with the fresh spring rolls. In addition there was a selection for a check box to choose other sauces. The staff was arguing that I instead chose fish sauce. I was actually choosing additional sauce, not instead of.
