From the moment we clicked "order", to when the food arrived, this was the fastest meal delivery we've ever experienced. We ordered at 7:15 PM, and by 7:44 PM, our food was at the door..still steaming like it had just been plated. This place closes at 9 PM, with the last delivery at 8 PM, so we were pretty impressed by the speed. We went with the General Tso's Chicken with fried rice, Shrimp Lo Mein, egg drop soup, and crab rangoon. My husband's a big fan of the General Tso's, and I get why--great portion size, great flavor, and for the price, it's a solid deal. The crab rangoon? Eh. It was like every other Chinese restaurant's crab rangoon. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. As for me, I had the soup and lo mein. The egg drop soup was fine, but it was a little... oily? And it could've used a bit more flavor. The lo mein, though... wow. It was like someone made noodles and then forgot to season them entirely. I found myself thinking, "Okay, what can I add to this to make it not taste like cardboard?" But honestly, I wasn't in the mood to start a culinary experiment at 7:44 PM, so I just gave up and ate it anyway. All in all, 3/5 stars. I ordered something I've never had. Spicy chicken with basil. It was hot, fresh and very good. It would have been great if it had any basil in it which it did not. When I mentioned how good it was and that it would have been better if it had basil in it, they acted like we spoke different languages and didn't speak to. Me again. WOW WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE!!! Really disappointed at this experience. Tried to order from here since we get Chinese at least twice a week - so we wanted this place would be a a good neighborhood gem. The food was so bad - I almost don't know where to begin, other than I wish we had not deviated from our regular place in Duluth called a Taste of China. We didn't want to drive down there, as we had a long day driving and thought why not give it a try? So this 1st order was certainly our last - aside the rice after being on the phone for like nearly 15 minutes, which was nice of the young girl - to make sure it was being prepared right. Outside of that - the food was wrong! The rest of the order was just miserable, from the ribs being old and near petrified (I ordered well done to make sure they would be fresh and they were certainly NOT! - They were so inedible - I didn't even give the meat which was so dry - like they were freeze dried - to the dogs! We had honey chicken - and to be fair they made it off the menu - but it was disgusting. We ordered fried rice with egg and white onion - why he was the subject of much of the discussion - as we said no scallions! So wouldn't you know it? Loaded with them - which we had called about and they offered to bring it over my house - just leave the wrong rice at the door and they would have left the replacement rice at the door - wifey was so upset about the rice and egg roll which was like a soggy sponge - we cancelled it. They gave us $7.90 back on the card - which the rest of the almost $60 - Belch! Soups tasted like chlorine water and wontons were like play dough. I can't say enough good things about this place. The owner and his wife really go above and beyond to make sure the experience is top notch. Pepper steak was absolutely THE BEST my husband and I have tried anywhere. Ever! Unreal how perfect it was. Sesame chicken was very fresh and had great flavor. All white meat chicken. Fried rice had exceptional flavor and had peas and onions in it. Lots of places don't put those anymore so I was very happy to see it. Egg rolls are huge and taste wonderful. House special soup for 2 was a huge and had TONS of chicken and shrimp and imitation crab in it. Lots of carrots and snow peas and water chestnuts. Really amazing. Service was absolutely wonderful. The owners wife is very sweet and told us they don't put any MSG in their food. They forgot to put it on their menus but she wanted to make sure we knew that, which we appreciated because it does give us headaches sometimes. Im not really impressed especially when I have had great Chinese before. The fried chicken wings appeared old, the dumplings came mashed together. I should have gotten them fried instead of steamed considering they would be delivered. The fried rice wasn't anything special, just rice. The colored appeared very light. It's definitely a to go spot, I mean, it has seating but not a lot of ambiance. I've been eyeing this place every time I drive past it. There's something about a banner of colorful flags that just screams "BRAND NEW - Come on IN!" I actually stopped at a sushi restaurant tonight and left when I remember I wanted to try this brand new "Hot Spot." I always judge a restaurant by how it smells and looks when I walk in. I was happy to see that the space was very clean and there were no awkward smells coming from the kitchen. I also felt comfort in the fact that it was packed! Of course that means they must be good because they are new and already had a packed house. Plus you could tell that some of these diners were already regulars. There was a wide range of people dining in which I thought was really cool because I don't really see a lot of dine in Chinese restaurants that feel like an actual restaurant. It definitely made me feel like I have to come back and dine in with the family. The FOOD - I was really hoping for a knock you in the face flavor brawl. Instead I got a full belly. Don't get me wrong, the food is great but I guess the reviews had me way too excited and my meal did not meet the extremely high expectations I had set in my mind. My husband, on the other hand, LOVED it. Everything is super fresh. I love that the food did not taste prepackaged even down to the veggies I felt they shop at the same market I shop at which is incredible. You can tell they use real ingredients. I looked at my husband crazy when he complimented the oil they use to cook lol but to my surprise their menu flaunts a message stating "We use 100% Vegetable Oil." In regards to the staff, they were super friendly. I wanted to know portion size so I could order accordingly but the young guy at the front had a pretty hard time trying to figure out how to show me how much food comes in an entree order vs a dinner combination order. Instead of going for the dinner, I opted for just the General Tso's chicken entree for hubby and I to share. I had imagined there would be different sizes but there weren't and I honestly feel like the entree portion was smaller than other places. I got my kids chicken wings and THOSE were bomb. I wish I would have gotten wings for myself as well. The appetizer comes with 8 wings. At this restaurant the wings and fries are separate appetizers and do not come together as a meal so you end up spending $8.95 for the wings and fries. So for me even though the wings are yum I would probably go somewhere else and get two chicken wing meals that include fries for a few dollars more. This definitely won't be my last time getting food here. They have a very extensive menu and I plan on trying everything until I find a favorite. I hope they continue to serve high quality fresh food because my husband is now a huge fan mainly for that reason. He loves to dine out and feel like he's had a fantastic home cooked meal and they definitely delivered that. I, on the other hand, cook his home cooked meals so when I dine out, I want something that makes me want to cancel cooking dinner because I can't duplicate it at home. This is my second visit, and both times, I have enjoyed every bite. I live in Conyers, so we drove about an hour. This time, I brought my parents. Mom couldn't stop talking about the wonton soup and chicken egg rolls. She said they were delicious and wanted to make sure we put this place in our favorites (gps) for future reference. Dad ordered the house special soup and said would definitely order it again. I had the General Chicken. It was hot, fresh, and delicious!
