HOWEVER, first things first: shoutout to Golden Phoenix for being the first place to give me all proper takeout utensils (plastic pho spoon). Not all heroes wear capes. Technically, this was my second visit. The first time, I wanted to write a review... but I tragically spilled our entire order in the car on the way home. (RIP, first impression.) So this round was my redemption meal. Everything was packed with care and precision, like a tiny takeout Tetris master handled it. Utensils, sauces, lime--all included. Not a single thing forgotten. A+ for organization. Chicken Pho: Loaded with tender chicken, flavorful broth, and enough liquid gold left over to sip the next day like a cozy little leftover gift. My 1-year-old shared it with me (tiny foodie in the making). I tossed in the hoisin, sriracha, fish sauce, and lime they provided, and boom: flavor bomb. Great place. I had drunken noodle, Vietnamese fish sauce chicken wings and tried the fresh pork spring rolls. Previously I have had the Vietnamese crispy spring rolls, with meat. Everything was great. Crispy rolls not pictured. This is the best drunken noodle with beef I have had in twenty years. Honestly I had given up ordering it because of prior disappointment. But it was great. Got medium spicy and may ask for hot spice level next time. The green pepper and carrot were perfectly cooked with a bit of crunch left but not raw. The beef was perfectly tender and a generous portion. The wings!! I have tried these wings wherever I can find them. These were perfectly crispy with a great carmelized fish sauce glaze. It was simple. Nothing fancy but perfectly done. Try them. Umami bomb! Not too fishy. Just flavor. Sweet, salty, crispy and juicy. The fresh spring roll was great too. I don't like when they are overstuffed with lettuce to make them look bigger. There was plenty of pork, vermicelli, cucumber and coriander (cilantro). Again, flavorful bites with the peanut sauce to round it out. The only thing I am upset about is I just found this place and it is just down the road from me.. so excited! The family that runs it is kinda and attentive. They have Chinese, Thai and added Vietnamese during covid when they took over. Everything is made with care. I was first introduced to pho when I was 22 and working at a Korean law firm. For the past 11 years, pho has been my go-to meal for everything: hangover, common cold, emotional comfort. I'd not be exaggerating to estimate I've been going to different pho restaurants at least once a week for 11 years. This is the very first one where a waiter or staff member has suggested something and said "that's the way we eat it in Vietnam." Our waiter suggested a sauce mixture (the base of which is his homemade recipe) that had my husband saying the two quotes at the beginning of this review. And an additional "it's like a Vietnamese holy water, purging the demons from my sinuses" I'd highly recommend this place. We'll definitely be back - hopefully we'll get more "back in Vietnam" recommendations too! It adds so much to the experience when someone shares their passion and homeland experiences with you - it is obvious food here is cooked with love. The seems fresh always because I don't go to places and eating left overs. I eliminate the problem by being proactive. The owners are great and never disappoint. I normally ask what is best on the menu. Over time I have tried most things on the menu all good. My experience with a simple Chinese dish of Beef and Broccoli was lack luster to say the least. I requested extra spicy, which was written on the order ticket. Nothing. For the price, I should have gone next door to Publix for a sandwich. It was flavorful, but there was Barely Any Beef in this dish. The portion was also light on the vegetables as well. I always give a second try to any restaurant and I will with this one. I can't recommend this specific dish. Next time I will do Pho and get a Banh Mi sandwich. read more

Great customer service! Seems like more people carry out, but we had a great dine in experience. Very welcoming, fast, and friendly service. It smells like you hope it would. You can smell the fresh seasonings, and curries cooking. We ordered the veggie egg rolls, a grilled pork Bánh Mì, and shrimp massaman curry. Everything was so fresh, not just freshly made, but also made with fresh ingredients. The egg rolls are fried, but they felt lighter than most places. The Bánh Mì had a little too much bread for me, but the massaman curry was so flavorful. Layers on layers of flavor. I no longer have to travel 45 minutes to an hour if I want delicious PHO as the GOLDEN PHOENIX RESTAURANT in Buford is much closer to me than Duluth is. The menu has both THAI and CHINESE items on their menu so you can get whichever cuisine you are feeling like. Our first time ordering from Golden Phoenix. The staff was friendly but I think they messed up one of our 4 dishes, the basil fried rice. There was no basil and the dish had no flavor. I don't really give bad reviews I usually just don't go back. But I will have to warn my Asian foodies about this place. I would have to say this is one of the worst Viet/Thai place I've ever eaten. The only people that say is good are non-Asian. This place is on my way home from work so I have stopped by a few times for convenience and tried several dishes. I gave them 3 chances to wow me. Never again. They all were cook wrong with wrong ingredients that don't belong in the dish. Whoever is the cook need to learn how to properly make these Viet/Thai dishes. I suggest YouTube. When I walked in my first impression was small, clean smelling, with a 96 health score posted on wall. I ordered the Pho, husband ordered Thai. He loves a good Drunken noodle dish. I apologize and I know you may being doing your best but the orange chicken did not taste like orange chicken. It was over done and tasted like it was cooked in very old oil. The fried wontons were extremely stale and kind of rubbery to chew. The fried rice also tasted like it was prepared with old oil that had been previously used. This new place opened up close tommy home and I haven't had a chance to try it until now, and boy am I glad I did. This place is literally the best Chinese food in the area by a wide margin. I ordered the House Special Lo-Mein and it was phenomenal (I mean if you can't get the basics down then your sunk AIR?!). The meal tasted fresh and the ingredients were legit. The shrimp spring rolls were also fresh and crispy on the outside, not mushy like lots of pretenders in the area. The dining room is small but inviting and cozy. You can tell they actually made the effort to invite people to dine in. In my opinion it's this place and Oriental J that are head and shoulders above the rest! I will definitely be coming back. Had high hopes, but just wasn't very good. I was in between 2 and 3 , since I'll likely never go back even though it's 8 minutes away and neither of sublimed it, I gave it 2. Definitely a to-go spot. Friendly counter service. The food was just either bland or too spicy. Both of our soups, Tom Yum and Coconut were really spicy neither of us could finish them. Ordered "normal" which is Medium. We also had the ginger chicken (add shrimp) and it just didn't have flavor. We've tried 4 or 5 others in the area and there is no better Chinese delivery in the area. It's not on the menu but I LOVE the Mongolian chicken and the crab rangoon. We ordered delivery service. A few minutes past the delivery time, the manager called to say there was a screw up and the food would be to me shortly. He apologized and even offered to send me an appetizer. I let him know that was not necessary. Not even 15 min later the driver was here with my food..and potstickers! I received another call from the manager just to make sure that I got my food and that everything was good. This type of customer service is not seen very often these days. Things will happen, even to the best of us, it is how you react when these things happen that shows your true character. We did our first carry out from here. We ordered basil fried rice (delicious flavor - highly recommend) and Massaman Curry (very good - they definitely use peanut butter, as was noted on the menu, to give it the sweet flavor I was looking for). We also ordered crab rangoon- which did not disappoint. The egg rolls, however, did. (Can't win 'em all). There's a spice or something in them that leave an unpleasant aftertaste so we did not finish them. We will definitely return for a future visit/carry out order and leave off the egg rolls this time.
