Maybe my previous visit to this place was out of touch. Perhaps I wasn't feeling good that day a few years back. Maybe they changed their menu or maybe I didn't know what I was looking for when I first made my visit back in 2018. What I can say for certain now is that something changed. For the better... So I decided to give this place another shot and get the normal gauge for a decent Korean Chinese joint. Granted they expanded their menu items out beyond the Korean and Chinese and into Thai which, great but not sure how that'll help for being out in the Buford/Sugar Hill area but do what you gotta do. So for the food this round. The jjajangmyun is solid. There's a deep rich wok hei flavor that's smoky and savory which is what this needed. The noodles are fantastic, the black bean noodle sauce is packed full of thinly sliced pork strips, onions, zucchini and other essentials that gives the sauce that flavor that is both savory from the wok hei yet also has a mild sweetness due to the onions. The noodles carry the sauce well and they cooked it perfectly. With the black bean noodles, the obvious pairing is the sweet and sour pork. The breading is a bit thick but the meat chunks are just as thick which gives it a decent mouth feel in terms of the fried breading and the pork meat. The sauce is sharply tangy but not unbearable. All in all, my experience this round was more than satisfying. I will say though, the pricepoint for the dish is pretty disappointing. I dropped $50 between the two entrees which is pretty painful dining solo. So come here with friends and go family style with main dishes. read more

The Know It Alls love this place and I am so shocked at the low rating!! Mr Know It All and have been here for lunch in the past and decided to take the family!! The service is wonderful! All of the staff were fun... they made conversation with us, answered any questions my elderly dad had, and not to mention very friendly. Now when you pull in to the parking lot, it doesn't look promising...but inside reminded me of Chinese restaurants I grew up with in Chicago. It is your typical Chinese decorations in red and gold with Buddha statues. But it is nice, clean, and could hold quite a few diners. It was beginning to get busier as we were finishing up! Ok so one of the best things we like about this place is the choice between Chinese and Thai. The Chinese offerings are many. And the Thai menu is quite a bit smaller. Dad had Mongolian beef, MKIA had massaman curry, the daughter had chicken mushroom soup with potstickers, and I had Pad Thai Shrimp. And the portions are so big... yes we shared!! Two and a half stars for this place just isn't right. It's a solid 3.5 which is why my rating is at 4. Using elementary school math. :D Yeah, the place is old and chintzy, but their black bean noodles (jjajangmyeon) is right on. The fried dumplings were done right. Thick and fried well! I didn't really care much for the chicken wings or the ban chan, but I'd definitely go back for jjajangmyeon. The decor is pretty atrocious though and kind of makes me laugh inside. It must have been a stylish place at one point, but it's showing its age and not very gracefully. I think it's one of those places where you just have to know what to order. My boyfriend grew up eating here so agreed to give it a try and loved it. The vibe reminds me of the Chinese restaurant in my home town growing up. All of the food is amazing and the kids loved it. It's not the way things are done these days, but I sometimes prefer to see the restaurant myself. Very interesting decor. Lots of carvings of wood and jade. It reminded me of some of the places I've visited in Chicago's ChinaTown. A gentleman greeted me as I walked in. I asked him about some menu items, and he answered quickly and concisely. I ordered a few things. He told me to have a seat. Literally, 5 minutes later, my order was ready. Service was excellent in my opinion. Took the food home, and my wife and I dug in. Ive come here for over 30 years and seen all the ups and downs over the decades. All legacy establishments over this period of time has its hard times, but at the end, this team comes through. Golden Buddha is the Chinese standard for Buford (20/Buford Hwy 23) for me and will continue. With a residence now nearby again, I come here for mostly take out and have been very happy for 2017. Food is always fresh, staff has been there years, friendly, professional. Lunch is nice to eat in and serving sizes at either time is large and plentiful. The crab wontons are great, as is the hot and sour soup to start. All others like beef and broccoli, Mongolian beef, moo goo GAi pan are favs for my family . I can only review on what I'd call typical Chinese food but hear their other dishes are equally very good. Still recommend for good ole Chinese, will be trying their sushi soon as the bar set up is nice and fish looks fresh!! read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We walked in after a family gathering for a funeral.. came a little later than our reservation, BUT we brought a party of 20+ they made at LEAST over $500. Ridiculously RUDE customer service! Asked us: "Why did y'all come to your reservation so late?" "If you don't like your plate we won't take it back" -as soon as we got our plates they brought us receipts -During our meal they were interrupting our family fellowship trying to close out the tickets asking who was on what ticket and before we could get halfway into our meals they had receipts there with more than enough time before close. With all the money that was spent you don't take the money and give bad service. I'm from Texas but I will tell everyone that ever comes to this town to spit on their front door handles and walk past them.. the food was overpriced for mediocre taste, and the terrible service because they were sore about time but reached deep in our pockets with bad attitudes was the icing on the cake.. We don't leave too far from the restaurant. I placed an order over the phone and the guy asked me if I would like to tip the delivery guy which I respond four dollars. My sesame chicken was cooked too hard and my partners pepper steak was too soggy . Also the cooks was just sitting down and eating along with our waitress . Customer service was horrible . I understand that waitresses only get paid very little, but there was no reason for me and my partner to be treated as such. When the waitress brought the ticket to the table, I explained to her that I just had enough for our food . She immediately started shoving the ticket back to me and then went to go get her boss. I used to live in the area about 15 years ago and I have missed it greatly. I happened to be visiting some friends so I was excited to get to try the food again. There is always some anxiety over trying something again after so long as often times the memory of it is much bigger than the reality of it. I can safely say that it was not the case this Golden Buddha!! It was just as good as I remembered. The "crab angels" were light and crispy. My husband ordered the Golden Buddha special beef dish and was very pleased! The rice was perfectly sticky, the beef was outstandingly tender, and the veggies were fresh and crisp. I ordered the sizzling rice soup that was my favorite 15 years ago and was so warming on a cool evening. Plump shrimp and tender chicken and veggies in a steaming hot broth. The worst food I have ever had! They serve Chinese-Korean fusion food, and trust me on this since I originally came from South Korea, I know exactly how the taste should be like. They do not even know how to make the food right. For my first and last visit, I had juamppong which is basically noodles with vegetables, seafoods, and spicy soup. The food was not well salted and spicy enough, SO WHEN I TOOK A SIP OF THE SOUP, I COULD NOT TASTE ANYTHING BUT WATER. Also the seafood in it seemed like raw. Noodles were not tasty either. It was like chewing rubber bands. I usually never leave any food at all, but I could not swallow the garbage, so I left more than half of the bowl. We came here for lunch and had a great time! Service was on point and food was really good! We were immediately greeted when we came in and seated - party of 9 with 2 under 2. Our waitress even remember some of our party's previous orders! We ordered a lot of apps, sushi and we had lunch which came with egg roll, soup, and the meal. First off, the food is good. That said, there are some very troubling lapses in service. It makes me wonder what goes on in the back kitchen, seriously. The first time I was here, I ordered the vegetable mapo tofu. I got the pork tofu instead. When I pointed it out to her, she literally gave me no reaction whatsoever and continued serving our table. UH WHAT???? The second time, I ordered a spicy noodle dish that goes well with the yellow pickled radishes they give out as a side dish. When I was almost halfway through the radishes, I knew I would need more (because I always do). So I asked for more. The reply from "Michael" was "After you're finished with what you have." UH WHAT???? I'm at a restaurant with a waitstaff, not at the family dinner table at the age of five. Is it just me, people? Would that annoy the crap out of you? The last thing is the worst. I got to the bottom of my tall glass of water, and when I looked down inside the glass to see where the ice was blocking my straw, do you know what I saw? A wrinkled, dirty, brown-yellow fortune from inside a fortune cookie. UHHHHH WWWHHHHAAATTTT?!?!?!?! I was drinking someone else's garbage the whole time. Michael just said "sorry" and got me a new one. Really? So that solves my problem huh? I think the absolute bare MINIMUM you could do is offer a refund of my meal. This restaurant used to be so good we found them when we moved here in the early 90s they were just Chinese food. They should have stuck with what they know went there for lunch today soup was good not very hot but good egg roll was good but greasy. They changed their sesame chicken to a sweet sticky version that is like the everyday slop buffet it used to be peppery and sweet. Our group was there for lunch and drinks but as soon as the food came out they dropped the bill on the table huge mistake when there is a group ordering drinks. Then the waitress stood and watched us the entire time when we told her we were ordering more drinks she snatched the ticket seemed upset and got our second beer then brought out another bill. We all felt rushed it might have been a fast food restaurant. The owners don't really care because they will not make any substitution and are very forceful about it as well as the fact what Chinese restaurant doesn't serve rice noodles? When my friend wanted to order the house Pad Thai she was told it was just chicken and would be a 5.00 up charge for additional meat. My suggestion is to get back to what they know Just Chinese food.
