I called in advance to be sure they had what I needed to bake today, cancelling my Amazon order that would have been delivered in time for me to make what I needed for tomorrow(albeit, baking at 10pm). I strongly advise against their services. I brought seven knives for sharpening, but upon picking them up, I found them dirty and with their ends bent. I sought assistance from someone in charge, but they informed me that he was unavailable and would contact me later. That was on September 3rd, and I'm still waiting for a call. read more

I enjoy baking. I especially love and enjoy baking with my Mom. Over the holidays I baked pecan tarts and my mom's pecan tart baking trays made kinda shallow tarts. So I decided to check out Chefs' Toys to buy a baking tray that would make deeper tarts and my Mom requested rubber cooking gloves. Chefs' Toys sells all kinds of restaurant and kitchen equipment (see my pics). Of course they had mini muffin nonstick 24 tray for $24.99 each and a box of small clear powder free vinyl gloves (100 per box) costed me $8.99. Parking is a little bit of a pain, as it's street parking only. Service from Javier was direct, asked if I found everything that I was looking for and rang up my purchase. read more

Drove 35 minutes called twice told him I was gonna be there right at closing. Apparently, the computer is magically shut off at 5 o'clock..... This is a simple fix if I call and tell you, I'm gonna be there around closing time. Tell me that I have to be rung up and done before five or the computers are shutting off. Common courtesy. We've been purchasing from you folks for seven years without any problems. We deal with some of the sarcastic attitudes on the phone, but I guess that's just from people working in the same place for too long, That is understandable. In this case, it was a humongous waste of time that could've been avoided just by telling me not to try to make it. read more

I have been using this location for while and been fairly happy. Good inventory and decent selection. Recently I decided to test out their services. I have a catering event upcoming and called to see how the prices on the Knife Sharpening would be, I was quoted and it was mentioned, that it takes 3 days for knife sharpening. Brought them in on a tuesday for an event on saturday. They said i wouldnt receive them back until Monday, since they are sharpened down in Anaheim. Needless to say I didnt sign up for the service and will look elsewhere in the future. read more

I sought this place out because I was in need of a black bistro apron. Boy, am I glad that this place has so much more than just an apron! It's really a candy store for chefs, servers, bartenders and the like. There's so many goodies, and such reasonable prices! It's open to the public, so popping in and out is a breeze. Parking is on the street, as far as I could tell. Wasn't too hard to find parking, but mind the posted signs. The staff helped me pick out some items and gave me great recommendations. All in all, I left with a bistro apron and a couple more items that I needed. There's a little section for restaurant-appropriate shoes, but not much. I would've purchased some shoes if the selection was better. No typical server attire, either, but there are chef suits. read more

Great customer service. They were all very helpful. Call first before going there to see if they have what you're looking for. There's plenty of basic stuff but not too many options. Price is ok. No parking. Parking is along Sepulveda or by Costco- you'll have to walk. The area is sketchy - I wouldn't feel comfortable walking from the Costco parking lot as it is quite a walk. read more

What an interesting store, so much variety ! As an amateur sourdough baker I was captivated by the number of Cambro containers available ...all sizes with lids! Now that's a real treat! They have gadgets, knives, kitchen appliances, large scale mixers, racks for bread and other pastry, you name it! Among other items, purchased an offset bread knife that's a time saver in the kitchen. The folks working there were very helpful, from the minute I entered I was offered assistance. All my questions were kindly answered. Parking is free although may be little tricky as limited spaces are available out front. read more

I don't know why I haven't left a review for Chef's Toys before, because I've been coming here for about 13 years! They will price match another retail store like restaurant Depot and I hate going to restaurant Depot so it's so much easier if I can just get my stuff at Chef's Toys. All the guys there are super helpful: Noah before he left, Joel, Javier... but today my five stars are about Chris. I'm writing this review because I came to buy a glass washer for my bar, but I'm dragging my little two-year-old daughter around with me to do errands and I mentioned when I was on the phone with him, that she had fallen asleep in the car (I was parked outside) and I would come in to grab the glass washer as soon as she woke up. He said don't worry, I will put it on your account and then he just brought out the glass washer for me and put it in my trunk! So amazing, I was able to let my daughter sleep and continue on my way home! The glass washer was out in my car in under five minutes. Excellent customer service, I will keep me coming back for 13 more years! read more

Do not come here to sharpen your knife. I've had these expensive knives for 10 years now and have had them beautiful and well maintained. Thought I'd give this knife sharpening a try here. I wish I hadn't and I'm a little sad at the inconsistency and scratches all over my lovely knives. read more

Actually, this is not that large a location and the stock was not any different than many restaurant supply houses I have visited. Since we were in the area, and only there out of curiosity, and most likely will not drive all the way from the Inland Empire again to take advantage of their services, there was very little that interested me. And as for the price, I thought perhaps there are other places where it would be less expensive. Nice little spot in case you need restaurant grade equipments, or even just for the food industry enthusiast! Moderate size equipment store with lots of employees available to help you out with your search! You can pretty much find anything you need food related at this store! You can also order things that either they don't have or that you are particularly looking for! Price is decent, just know that you are getting things that restaurants uses day in and day out! Pretty durable stuff! Parking is not so good... I just parked on the streets in front of this place, but in the worse case scenario, you can probably park in the Costco lot and take a short block or so walk to this place. I will definitely be coming back here for many other equipments/supplies whenever I need something! read more

This place is a Chef's Disneyland! They have EVERYTHING! Hubby and I walked in at 1:00 p.m and left at 3:30 p.m.! ... yeah we were there looking at everything they had in every isle. My hubby is a chef so naturally he wanted everything in the store. The only reason I am giving them four stars instead of five is because their hours aren't long enough. I came here a few days ago, and man, was I amazed! The store is well stocked with everything Chefs need! I enjoyed touring the store to see what they had available, as I do with most stores I visit for the first time. After picking a few much needed items, I noticed the prices were convenient. Much better than shopping online! The staff was knowledgeable, and helped me find everything I needed. I was in and, out under ten minutes! The only drawback was that they did not offer knife handle repair. Too bad they didn't stock Wustof knives. Other than that, a great store to visit, for all your Culinary needs! First let me say my partner and I have spent over $2K here in the past year. The selection was amazing. The service is horrendous, though. It is totally a "man's world" here...Several times while shopping, I've witnessed sales reps ask every man in the store if they needed help while pointedly ignoring me...I mean the nerve...a woman who thinks she's a chef?? I read that they are now part of a different company called Cooks Toys, so I thought I would try them out to see if anything had changed. Sadly, the only thing that changed were the prices. What cost me $8 six months ago is now selling for $15. The invisibility factor still applies though, so great job, dudes! Even though it's convenient for us, we will be making a longer trip and giving our business to another vendor. Wake up, men...women do own restaurants, do buy supplies and (gasp) are capable of making big money decisions...just not at your store. read more

Large selection, yes. Public welcome? No. I was doing some shopping today for an item that Bed Bath and Beyond doesn't carry on a regular basis. They had it here, of course. I wandered around the store and marveled at all the supplies that you see used on the Food Network esp. Iron Chef America. When I decided to make a purchase I was treated like a pariah. Apparently they could smell the fact that I'm a novice in the kitchen and not shopping for a restaurant. I asked for assistance and got "the look" (What? You're really trying to buy something?-The nerve!"). The person who I asked for assistance sauntered into one of the aisles with the, attitude, that I could've gotten it myself. There was a display for that item and the stock was placed high on the shelves, out of my line of vision, I didn't know to look to the ceiling. When he came back he asked me if that's all I needed. I said yes. I paid for my item in it's torn box that wasn't even placed in a bag. There were loose items in the box that could've fallen out or gone missing. There was someone else who was purchasing pans and both the clerks seemed more intent on helping him than me. This was probably due to the fact that he was in an apron and looked like he was shopping for a restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless you really can't find what you're looking for anywhere else. They're pricey compared to other places and you're probably better off shopping online. I'd give this place a minus 10 for service if I could. read more

A good restaurant supply store that is open to the public. If you are a home chef, this is a great place to get restaurant quality pots & pans, food prep safe knives and 3-foot wooden mixing spoons. Why you would need one that big at home, I'm not sure but I wanted one. For those who have been to Surfas, it's similar but without the foods and not as upscale feeling. The prices are a bit high on most things but I found a few killer deals. read more
