Above average for Vietnamese food in the area but a bit overpriced. I do think there is better pho in Chinatown, Manhattan where I grew up eating. However, their pho is still yummy and I liked the noodles they used. I especially enjoyed their appetizers such as the truffle fries (to die for!) and summer rolls. Their Thai iced tea also has the perfect consistency and taste - approved! The interior of the restaurant isn't all too big. I came around 6:30PM on a friday and was able to get seating for my bf and I. However, by the time 7PM hit, the place was packed. A star off because I was disappointed in their house special banh mi. When my family came, the staff was very welcoming and polite despite my dad giving them a little bit of inconvenience for seating. Stepping foot into the restaurant, I could tell the atmosphere is great for all occasions with the layout being simple and easy to move through for both staff and customers. I ordered their signature pho which included a variety of beef with my family ordering their spring rolls (they were very tasty along with the sauce being very addictive). Signature Bahn Mi - 3.75/5 - I guess this is the typical standard bahn mi.. nothing outstanding worthy of getting only from here, but at least it was toasted to perfection. Also it was filled, so that's a plus, considering a lot of shops are putting less and less into their sandwiches. Signature Pho - 4/5 - Broth was surprisingly light but tasty, which I rather enjoyed. For some people they may find it lacking since there are quite some modern Vietnamese restaurants that make their broth super rich. Bun bo hue was new to us- hint of seafood in the spicy broth from shrimp paste, with pineapples, vietnamese ham, pork with pork skin. Fried salt and pepper squid was good. Made it a meal with a side of rice $3. Vietnamese coffee is regular. House special bahn mi is meaty, though couldn't tell where pork belly is bec I tasted the mince meat more. Could also use more cilantro/carrot slaw. Very attentive staff. Will surely return. We usually went to Elmhurst Vietnamese food locations but yelped and found this place. It was a tad too oily but it paired great with the lettuce and pickled carrots Lemongrass chicken over rice - the chicken was very tender and flavorful. It came with a fried egg but I wish I was over medium instead of over hard Bun bo hue - I ordered it to be very mild and it was perfect. It had the complex flavors of shrimp paste with a slight tangy taste. The noodles were very soft and just enough cooked. Usually in other places the BBH is served with pig knuckles with bone in but chef papa served only the meat, no bone; I loved it!! We came here as a group of 9 adults 2 small kids and a baby (for lunch due to the great google reviews totaling almost 700 reviews with a 4.7/5.0 rating. It's questionable how they got 700 reviews in the first place. We sat down and noticed it is clearly written on their menu that group of 6 or more that an automatic gratuity of 20% is applied to the bill which was no problem. We ordered 2 spring rolls, Vietnamese pancake, salt & pepper squid, grilled pork chops, grilled lemon grass chickens, signature phos, beef stew soup and Vietnamese coffees. We asked the waitress to simply cut the spring rolls in half for us so it's easy to share as a group and they indirectly said no and gave us 2 knives for us to cut it ourselves. I mean I specifically asked them to do it and not me. I didn't ask for a knife to cut it myself they could have easily used kitchen scissors and quickly did it but they couldn't and no explanation and handed me back the spring rolls with knife on the side. I mean 20% gratuity was already there. That made a sour taste for the remainder for our lunch there which started with the spring roll appetizer. Super small restaurant can't handle more than 1 large group at a time. When it comes to the Vietnamese Pho it is not up to standard. Go to Namson or Thái Sơn in Chinatown Manhattan and you'll see the Pho flavor difference. Chef Papa's Pho soup base was super light and not rich in flavor of the broth that we were looking for it lacked that. Their grilled chicken and grilled pork was ok. The grilled pancakes was interesting. But overall this place is over priced for what they are serving. The Pho side garnishes like the Lemon or lime, bean sprouts, basil was next to nothing. Served on a small plate. The other 2 placed mentioned they give you a lot probably 4x the amount of bean sprouts this place gives. The restaurant is too small they had to turn away some patrons and told them to come back later. Overall, definitely won't recommend and will not be coming back. read more

It tasted like it was pre cooked and barely heated. The sandwiches used to be amazing. Now it's just full of picked carrots and barely any other ingredients. And everything tastes way too salty. Broths not as flavorful. Summer rolls are padded with so much noodles. Everything is just overall disappointing. The first time I thought it was a one off experience but then every time since it's been so disappointing. The bowl is big enough to share. I like how the garnish such as the bean sprouts and jalapeño are covered on a plate. They do have different kinds of pho such as short ribs and vegan options. The crispy chicken was my favorite. The sauce to the chicken was amazingly delicious. The chicken was really crispy also. The summer roll had a great tasting peanut sauce. I've heard about this place dozens of times but it was always so out of the way that I never bothered going, but I'm so glad I did. It's a small restaurant but can seat about 20 or so people, and the food is quite good. They have chicken pho, where it's smooky and has a nice charcoal flavor. Their wings are also delicious- it has a nice fish sauce flavor to it. I got their regular pho. Which was huge. Ended up not finishing it! Overall, fantastic pho restaurant.
