I ordered several different dishes to give them a real test since getting only one dish can give you an inaccurate evaluation should you just not happen to like that particular dish. I noticed that the shrimp in the shrimp dish was very flavorful. With all the farmed shrimp found in most stores and restaurants it's hard to find any flavor at all anymore. I don't know if Chef Panda is buying wild caught shrimp or not but they sure were good. Each of the other dishes were excellent as well. The portions were very good for the price. We first tried this place a long time ago and were not impressed at all. We tried again a year or so ago and it was much better. Recently it went back to not so good again. The chef panda beef and orange beef are awful. Gummy is the best word that describes it. Lo mein is actually really good but that is about it. The lunch special are all I can write about , I have ordered all of them by now. Usually they are a tad greasy, but very tasty. My fav is the amazing chicken, I usually don't eat chicken. Pay the dollar extra to get the lo mein it's worth it . The owners and staff are very nice , and they go out of there way to provide good service. read more

This Chinese restaurant sits in the middle for me. The food was ok, but wasn't great. The general tso chicken was pretty good and they got the spice level spot on. The lo mein was subpar and didn't have much flavor. The spring roll had a semi raw taste/texture. If I were to eat here again I would only buy the meat. So I'm all about giving credit where it's due, and I totally respect small businesses, however...when there's room for improvement I think that should also be mentioned. We just moved back to Surprise and decided to give this place a try. Well....we won't be going back unfortunately. Here's why: 1) Ordered some crab puffs - missing from my order and when I called to mention that it was missing, the gentleman went over my order and said he didn't even have it down. Awesome. 2) 1 of the lunch specials didn't come with the fried rice that I had requested. So just some plain white rice that we could have made for free. 3) The fried rice I did have in my other lunch special, well, it was not good whatsoever. It had absolutely no flavor, simple white rice with a splash of soy sauce. Definitely not good. Took 2 bites and decided I wasn't even going to attempt it any further. 4) Orange chicken sauce...not good either. I ended up using my husband's sweet and sour sauce instead but still didn't bother with too many bites afterwards because 1-3 pretty much just ruined it for me and I was done. So yeah...there was a lot of flavor that was missing...like a lot. And I was a lil frustrated about spending $25 on something I couldn't even eat. Definitely not giving it a 2nd try. Love Chef Panda! We ordered for the first time last night and the food got there fast and it was HOT! The delivery man called my husband by name and was so so nice. He even brought a singing Santa hat that my 1 year old loves. Their sweet and sour chicken was crunchy and you could tel the sauce was homemade it wasn't that thick red sauce that is usually served at other Chinese restaurants. Thanks to my entire family contracting COVID-19, and the necessary 6 week full quarantine, we decided to try delivery from this little place. It is our new favorite spot for delivery Chinese. I've lived in the Phoenix metro area most of my 42 years, and no other Chinese places I've tried even come close to the delicious high quality food you get at Chef Panda. We've tried several dishes since discovering the place and everything is consistently divine! I'm so happy to live within their delivery area, but would be willing to drive quite a distance for such wonderful meals! Highly recommend! read more

Last night we placed an order and after about an hour and a half it still hadn't shown up yet so I called the restaurant and they were going to call the driver and call me back. The chef called me back and apologized that the driver hadn't shown up, he had no idea where he went, he offered me a discount and said he was going to recook our order and bring it over himself, he was so sweet on the phone, we didn't take a discount but he did bring us a double order of walnut shrimp, he showed up within 20 minutes or so, such a nice guy :) then he forgot our drinks and apologized again and brought those to us as well. Found out about this place from a co-worker. Was a little tired of the same ole same ole so we decided to try it. It's set in a small strip mall off Bell and Reems in the NW Valley. You walk in and there are tables on each side. A lady at the front takes your order and you sit down with a number and wait for your food. It doesn't take too long before the food is at your table. We ordered tonight for the first time. The Broccoli Beef and Cashew Chicken were great! But the Orange Chicken was WONDERFUL! We also give 3 thumbs up for the spring rolls and fried rice . The delivery driver was very nice and delivered with a smile and a Happy Halloween! And there was a pretty masquerade mask on the top of the order. Wanted Chinese food today, usually order from Chen Wok, took a leap and ordered from Chef Panda and I'm glad we did, this food is awesome! It arrived hot, not lukewarm but hot. The egg flower soup had so many fresh vegetables in it and tofu you could actually see and taste, the steamed rice had a pleasant hint of jasmine water and their egg rolls were the bomb! The price was reasonable and the service was fast, way less than the hour we were advised. I didn't mention any of the coupons they offered but they gave me the extra specials regardless. I also have to say Derrick who took my call is the best order taker I've every dealt with, he was the most pleasant, helpful and energetic person, and an asset for this new business in Surprise.
